I still have several bottles of premix to use up. If it's not horrible, I'll vape it. If it really sucks, I pour it down the drain. I dumped some foul juice last night. When my stock dwindles enough, I'll order some DIY stuff to get started and go slow.

I think it'll be better to start now while you still have some of your premixed. Glad that I started DIY early since this gives your newly mixed juices time to steep. Still haven't tried the boiling water thing but, I'm doing it the old fashioned way. So, I'm waited for about 2 weeks now and finally tried two of the juices I made.

One way ok and the other one tastes great. Only doing individual flavors at this point. Although, that's going to change with the next juice I mix. Just ordered some PG I found somewhere since the one I got is kind of weak compared to vendors that I've tried.

Tried to go slow myself but......that plan failed

Oh they're having a sale on TPA flavors at Good Prophets. It's only 3.99 for 30mls (although, it is in the plastic bottles and not the typical glass bottles)!! Would suggest you give it a look and see if there are any flavors that you like to get. Better then paying full price IMO.

Got my order in, I'm with you DIY all the way. It cost me $3.43 for a mix of 30ml that's over a 300% SAVINGS, and I know what's in my juice, I put it there.

+1

Only thing I have to worry about now is how much nic and stuff to buy. Really go overboard with this type of stuff since I'm still a juice junky.

Well, mostly due to this thread, I started down the DIY path. I'm still only halfway down it, lol.

I bought a 236ml bottle of 36mg/ml of unflavored nic juice and a couple of bottles of flavoring at MtBakerVapor.com and it has worked out very well. And at only .15 cents per ml, I don't know if there is much incentive to go full on DIY, as this route is so easy getting the premixed, plain nic juice and adding some flavoring to it (plus no worry about some toxic high strength nic laying around).

I'd really recommend going this route to any new DIY'ers...start with plain nic juice (pre-mixed by a supplier at your desired strength) and flavorings, and once you are comfortable with that, then move on to making your nic juice (nicotine/pv/vg). Take DIY slow and it can be really easy without any sort of steep learning curve.

Some juices don't have to steep to be good. When one is new taste it. If you really like it go ahead and vape it, but save a little to try in a couple of weeks to compare. When you hate a brand new juice, stash it for a couple weeks and try it again.
I have been pleasantly surprised many times after a good steep. Some flavorings just need time to bloom, marry and meld.

The juices I make are all tobacco. I have to let them sit to be good, but once they get a hot water steep and sit for a week they are AWESOME (to me anyway.) there is just one flavor that was good the day it was made, and my wife made it for me, But it was like a caramel coconut juice with a cuban supreme afterthought, which is probably why it didn't need to steep. I bought a whole bunch of tobacco flavors to try, and I will now go through what I thought of them. Camtel FA- awful patchouli flavor, M-type TFA- nasty chemically taste... nothing like tobacco, Cowboy FA- less patchouli taste but still there... yuck, Cuban Supreme- a delightfully rich subtle cigar flavor, 7 leaves FA- gaggy cocoa unsteeped but AWESOME when steeped and used at small percentages, Burley FA- a nice tobacco flavor hard to put your finger on needs steeping. I know I was not asked but I thought that might help some folks deciding on which flavors to try, and what to expect of them.

I am curious if anyone else knows more about mt baker vapor?

They are as close to local as I can get. Ordering some pre-made nic might be a good way for me to go.

also if you buy pre-mixed in the strength you need and then add flavoring, I thought that would dilute it and mess up the final equation.

is that not correct?

It won't make enough difference to matter. Can you tell the difference between 9mg & 8mg when you are vaping it?

so you are saying that even if you go as high as 20% it would not make a difference.

mt baker (the place that the above poster referenced) only sells the pre-made nic juice in the normal strengths.

it just seems like it would throw it off too much potentially.

I am wrong I guess?

Mt Baker Vapor is relatively new...and I'm not sure what they carry now. Last time I checked them out they had very little to choose from. Nice guy though. He's in my area, so I'll see if what else I can find out about him. I chatted with him last year....but as I said...he was just starting up and only had a few flavors. If you're looking for a bigger supplier www.ecigexpress.com is also in our area...about the same distance to you. And they carry a TON of DIY supplies.

I vape 18mg, so I make up a big batch of 20mg nic. Then I add my flavor, making it 18mg most of the time. But if it ends up being 17mg or 19mg, so be it. I'm not going to do all the math for a couple mg difference. As canoeist said, it's not like you can really tell.

I can tell! This week my juice has been 30mg nic. I usually do 32. I went through so much more and was not satisfied unless I vaped a lot! Also found myself more stressed when grabbing a quick vape or two. It was like I didn't get a hit! I did not know what was going on until I checked the bottles that used to fill my REO's. So not a mental thing while it was happening.
