I am a GUY from L.A. not girl. lol
I'm not entrely certain about all the others...I just remember the buzz about the v4L changeover (and some very unhappy customers) back about 2 months ago and the confirmation of the transition to sound activated autos by leaford himself

Hmm. Hopefully from a different source they are still vacuum. I love my vac KR8s. I couldn't even use my 510s in the car in traffic. But I can stick my KR8s out the sunroof at 40mph and they don't fire, but still draw better than my 510s did. *Shrug* it really boils down to what works best. I'm keeping all three types that I have, and may even venture into E9 territory.

i hope there not sound active..i just got mine and my bfs 808 but i didnt get them from v4l

If it was only a couple months ago that V4L switched, you probably got the older type from another vendor. *fingers crossed*. But really, there aren't any other options to get a auto that isn't sound activated than the KR8 and the SmokeStik. You could always e-mail the CS from where you bought them from and ask. They might know for sure. I do know that Drew from NHaler said his current KR8s were vacuum, but his are US assembled, and expensive as a result. I would ask the supplier you ordered from.

that's exactly it...it's all about what works best for each person individually.....we all smoked different brands...full flavors, lights, ultra lights, menthol.....wides, filterless, 100s, 120s...pipes, cigars... whatever....

I'm happy with what I got now...one aspect could be tweaked to be better (atty of preference has to be dripped or needs a juice feeder)....but I've got flexibility depending on juice....and I know that I'll never have to worry about batteries ever...

and I have hope for you all that the batteries you got are vacume activated.....seriously a quick test is to take a carto condom and put it over the led "ash" cap (that'll cause it to fire because of the difference in air pressure) or get it near a magnet...

Or just crank up the stereo. lol

That is fantastic! Just tested my autos and sure enough they both fired immediately! Thanks for that... that is a good piece of knowledge to have! I have yet to own a sound activated auto but they sound like a major annoyance.

I ordered manual batts, I hope I like them. :)

I am sure you will if you don't mind them being manual. I hated the idea of manual batts untill I got my eGo. I adapted quickly and got used to it, but I am finding myself much happier w/ vac opperated autos at 3.4-3.7v. Whatever works should be the tag line for this thread. lol in fact, I just added it. lol

EDIT: I hated the idea of manual batts, not auto batts.

Well sorry for what could be a somewhat invalid question. :/ Blame it on my being a nub.

lol....quit apologizing....we were all new to this at one point in time....

I still think the best way is to make a list of what is most important to you as far as needs in a device....
and honestly alot of that will be trading off one thing for another....

what seems forever and a day ago now....I think my first question was asking someone to tell me the best PV that would last me an entire work day of heavy use, that didn't need to be topped off too often, auto, put out good vapor production, was relatively smallish or close to cig size, could stand up to a heavy industrial and exposed to weather enviroment....lol....it didn't exist....

then the eGo came out and that was closer....
but I started with a 510, tried a KR8, tried some other stuff....

and now I'm settled into an eGo when "slumming it" and a mod the majority of the time...and building my own mod at present....

I will say that adapters are awesome..they let you try different combos relatively cheaply

EDIT: what may have seemed like me being offended was more a need for me to work on clearing up some gross misinformation which certainly is no help to new people...

When u buy LR stuff, most of the places worn you not to use LR attys/cartos on less than 450mah batteries.

Really? Why? It does seem to use up the battery life and juice quicker, but isn't that to be expected?

He can't and hasn't answered this because he doesn't really understand electronics like he thinks he does. mAh is a measurement of a battery's capacity. It only tells us how long we can expect a battery to last given a specific current draw. (eg. If we pull a constant 1A from a 1000mAh battery, it would last for one hour before dropping voltage to the point that the battery is considered discharged.)

This explains why you are correct about battery life. A lower resistance atomizer will use up batteries faster than a higher resistance atomizer because Ohm's law (I=V/R) tells us that applying less resistance to a specific potential (voltage) will increase the current. Going from a 3 ohm atty to a 1.5 ohm atty doubles the current and halves the battery life.

If suppliers are warning against using low capacity batteries, it's most likely because they don't want to field complaints about LR attys killing batteries, nor do they want to replace batteries that have been over discharged because people are expecting a certain life span and keep trying to puff away when the battery is dead in half the time it usually takes.

Edit: If we're talking about drain rate and whether a battery can provide the current draw that's another story. It doesn't make claims about higher voltage given the same resistance providing more current and a faster hotter vape any less correct.

Also, earlier I said "3.7v offers a significant improvement over 3.1v". That did show my bias. I should have said it offers a significant "difference".

I can agree with both those statements...perhaps they arent the most clear and going into detail

a battery pushing a true 3.7V is indeed a significant difference and improvement over a 3.2V battery...

*here's the qualifier....there are no stock batteries and even very few mod batteries that deliver a true 3.7V without voltage sag and overstressing the batteries because of the amp draw the atty/carto is asking for compared to the max drain of the battery..

the whole as many combinations of KR8...I'd agree with that statemnt too but with the qualifier

* that qualifier being that yes cartos are available all the way down to 2.0Ω (litecigs I believe) and up higher than 3.5Ω (it might require some dectivry to get the #'s out of the vendors)... and then the 901 is threaded the same so it'll fit a KR8 battery without adapter and those are available in a huge range as well (down to 1.5Ω) but yes the 901 is technically a different device than a KR8 (just like a 306 is technically different than a 510 even though they are the same threading)..

every 510 atty I've bought have been genuine joye and have metered in between 2.2Ω and 2.5Ω...
same with the 306 atties every one has been 2.5Ω -2.8Ω...

the problem is more that I see vendors that arent forthcoming with the info as far as resistance...or sell an off brand/clone of a product and neglect to include that info as what's considered standard or LR does vary by manufacturer...
a good example of that is you have the 1.5Ω LR atties...and then you have 1.8Ω ones and 2.0Ω ones from different manufacturers because to them they are LR because their standard are either 3.0Ω or 3.5Ω...
because of the 510's popularity all sorts of clones and knock offs are out there which yes gives us a huge selection of resistances : I've seen 1.5, 1.7, 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 3.0, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.2 now and what's standard for joye isn't standard for SLB, or eastmall, or hello, or bauway...

and the same is true for the cartos...just happens that the arbitrary resistance from a lot of the manufacturers of those are the same...

just cause you asked for a link...heres some 2Ω 808d-1 cartos KR808d-1 Premium LOW RESISTANCE SOFT CAP Blank Cartomizers

my point is...I'm sorry that you feel you wasted or lost alot of money....
however when in doubt....ask someone around is bound to know or at least give you a good lead...
and often because the market IS so open and unregulated without standards for specs much of it could be put on vendors and the lack of information on the products they carry...
and yes it is unfair for new people to be expected to know to ask these things.. often they only see the model # and the price...they don't kow that there's going to be a difference in (for example) the 510 that cignot carries, the 510 that TV carries, and the 510 that EM carries...or a difference between the KR808 that v4L carries, the one that vapornine carries, and the one that puresmoker carries....
