I had to stop in and check on LD. Being on the north side of where the eye made landfall is never a good place to be. I have seen the pictures of how bad the flooding is in NC. :(

LD, I am not that far from you. If there is anything at all that you need and I am able to help, just say the word. Seriously. I would be more than happy to help in any way that I am able to.

Glad to hear the local cadre has made it through safe and sound :)

Anudda busy weekend for yours truly. Worked on a bunch of camp stuff, tonight we grilled, had the neighbors by.

Latest coffee pickup is a Kenyan, could be a winner. The notes on it are Tropical fruit, Tangerine, Caramel, Butterscotch, Creamy Body. I've gotta make some time to roast it during the week, since this coming weekend is scuba student checkouts (no rest for the wicked :) )

We've got extreme flooding all around....14.8 inches of rain here....Drove 50 miles for generator gas....had to give up on the non ethanol....Trust I'm about sick of hearing that damn generator and there is no promise of electricity in the near future...I-95 is gonna be router through the small town to my South....Two seperate bridges cross the Cape Fear River there and one is down due to being underwater....So I-95....small town.....bottleneck at the bridge....What could go wrong????? Last I heard NC's death toll was at 6....From what's going on with the water and from what I've see it's surely gonna rise...There are a lot of places inaccessible where I'm sure life was lost.....We're OK.....maybe better if a shower was possible.....but overall in much better shape than many of my neighbors....

You seem to have luck like mine so I doubt this is possible but, shortly after we moved up here to this podunk town, we had an ice storm and lost power for two weeks. Thankfully there were a few hotels around that offered use of their shower for $15.

We went for just about 30 days after Hugo with no power but, at least we had city water and were able to take cold showers back then. Hang in there, my friend. Better days are surely coming.

Last I heard there were more than 400,000 without power in SC and more than 500,000 in NC. The good news is that 400,000 in SC is only half of what it was yesterday so they are moving quickly to get folks restored.

If all else fails, I am sure that you are familiar with the local creek. lol Sometimes you just gotta look for humor somewhere.

Spike spent the afternoon sleeping on the sun.....He doesn't like the noise from the generator and is gunshy of the dropcords running to the appliances...Answering the call of nature during a hurricane probably ain't gonna make his top 10....He did have an 24 foot trailer providing shelter though....He's pretty game

Still no power or any promise of such.....1/2 mile down the road a transformer attached to the top 1/4 of a pole broken maliciously lies dead in the middle of the road.....For 2 days now....Two miles the other way a huge pine blocks all traffic.....someone plowed into it Sunday night....That tree and that transformer have that yellow tape blocking them.....Top that with the tree and transformer being about 10 feet beyond the tape....No sign of the power company....Heard we're low on the priority list.....They're on a list also

Morning Fran and Lynn! Chilly here as well, had to put the heat on to take the chill off the house!

Maddies bi annual eye doctor appointment today. This should be the final October drive down there as once she turns 9 they can see her locally. Yay! One more in April after this.

    Have a great day everyone.
