Good advice from Dinger. You have to take care of yourself as much as possible because your mom is going to need your help when she is released.

I know how hard it is but, please remember to eat and sleep when you are able to.

You are both on TTs prayer list and of course you are on mine as well. (((LD)))

The MRI results show no damage to the brain....normal atrophy from aging....no clots found...The Doppler shows only slight cholesterol buildup in the neck arteries....said nothing to worry about....Event ruled as a trasischemic attack or TIA....a mini-stroke....Last night a case worker was working to get insurance approval for a rehab stay...Westfield is known as the best in the area and when she had broken bones we couldn't get her in there and there's a waiting list now....Good news is my Ace in the Hole Cuzz Lizz quit teaching and is a speech pathologist at Westfield and she has a bed waiting....Overall I'd say Mom's condition has improved somewhat....I feel a little better about the situation.....

I took up a spot in the sun while talking to family on the phone about the situation...That hospital is cold and I'm temperature sensitive...Much like a motorcycle ride in cold temps.......it takes a while to warm up...I was overlooking the helicopter pad and entrance for the ambulance....A call went out....eta 5 minutes....full stroke...That gave me a horrible feeling and I got the Hell outta there.....Combine the storm and no power and then Mom's stroke I've not even had time to get all the drop cords picked up.....I was behind schedule before and now the schedule is just blown....It is what it is either I'll fix the stuff people want fixed or someone else will...Beach house remains a mystery and for that I'll just wait for the floods to subside...Haven't seen the news in days but last time my State was in dire straits flood wise....Right now I've been rode hard and we are still riding so there will be no breaks for the foreseeable future....Cuzz Lizz is one of three grandchildren with the red hair gene passed along by my Granny Flarie...Sis and I being the other two....a direct link to one Hell of a woman...I take comfort in the fact she will be in direct contact with Mom daily....Maybe then I can seek shelter...

Much love to the whole crew.....I'll check back when time allows.....Dee

That is great news, LD!!! Considering the alternative anyway.

Don't stress yourself about the things that you are behind on. They will all get worked out eventually. You can only do what you can do and you are giving priority to what matters most.

So glad that you checked in here! I have been keeping vigil on this thread hoping for good news. :)

Hang in there, my friend. better days are just around the corner.

Your post reminded me of when my husband was in ICU. His dad stayed so cold that I woke up one night and had to go looking for him as he was not in the waiting room. I found him stuffed between 2 soda machines trying to get warm.

Just catching up sorry to hear about the stroke LD. I've had 2 strokes both affecting my speech '95 and '10 and several TIA's. Time and practice is the healer and perfectly fine now. Well maybe it turned me into goofy socialist, idk? Anyway I take warfarin (Coumadin) now and have monthly labs (protime) to check thinness of blood. Have to watch green vegetable intake as it has Vitamin K associated clotting.

Best thing I can tell you is remember to have patience it maybe frustrating for you folks some days but 100x more so for her. When you get tired it gets worse. Hoping for the best recovery possible. Feel free to ask me any questions you think I maybe able to help with, its somewhat different for everyone depending on what portion of the brain was affected.

Very glad to hear no damage shown on her MRI, and little buildup on her carotids. Having your cousin securing your Mom a bed at the best rehab is great! Please rest when you can...and stay warm!!

No blaming that on on your strokes, Moon ;)

My husband is on Coumadin as well. has been for about 8 years. Would you believe that he has never, ever had to have his dose changed? He is always at 2.6 when he gets his blood checked every single month which is actually perfect. I know that is unusual and that most people are up and down with their levels.

My mom has had a few TIAs. She never even knew it until an MRI revealed it.

BTW Moon, I tried to include you in a group PM yesterday and ECF would not let me do it for some reason.

I was that way till the last couple of years when garden is in season, then it goes out of whack then I go in every 2 wks to check and adjust as needed. The lab tech tells me that's common.

Thanks for the effort.
