Jerry this is tobacco country...I remember seeing one news story showing a protest against CVS...It quickly went away...

I have no problem with CVS or anyone else pulling tobacco from their shelves; we can decide to use such things or not; they can decide whether or not to sell them to us.

I have a problem with CVS's pretense that they've done so out of benevolence and concern for our well being; they've made a business decision that creating that appearance will, in the end, bring in more dollars than cigarette sales would have.

If they thought for a moment otherwise, their shelves would again be bursting Marlboros and their employees would be offering to light them for us.

I agree PI...I saw a new commercial where they will be offering health "services" in store...Not 100% sure but thinking they mentioned their recent decision too quit selling tobacco because they're concerned about our health...

Temps have moderated somewhat but still freezing....Last evening @3pm a shift in the wind brought us too 36* with the sun out....For comparison Asheville....way up in the Smokies and usually a good deal colder had us by 10* at 46*....Pass the propane...

Maybe and maybe not, PI. CVS is a Rhode Island company, it's headquarters are a few miles northwest of me. Rhode Island is an ultra-liberal, anti-tobacco state. I have no doubt that CVS' decision, was strongly influenced by that.

Of course their profit margin was considered when they made that decision, but their standing with the people who run this state and the non-smokers, was a great influence, as well.

Edit: I have seen that commercial as well, Dee.

RI based or not, Jer, CVS is a national chain and a publicly-held, for-profit corporation; as such, whatever the political climate outside the HQ doors, its influences are its stockholders, and its purpose in life is M-O-N-E-Y.

I might suspect CVS of altruism were Rodger Williams the CEO. As it is, Larry Merlo is pulling down 1.3 mil, and I see no reason to believe he'd jeopardize that if an anti-tobacco stance wasn't exquisitely politically correct from shore to shore.

Thank you, Tracy. I'm happy to have reconnected with the ghosts of ECF and Notcigs past.

Of late, the only vaping-savvy people I've mixed with were rugrats in a B&M vape shop that had jumped onto the vaping bandwagon just to be hip. I had nothing in common with them.

We vaping geezers with nicotine-stained fingers have to stick together.
