Yeah Bov.....You missed that one...Coolant circulates around the cylinders in an attempt too keep them cool....It definitely passes
thru the head gasket...First you must observe the coolant level when cold....get it good and hot and then observe it again...keep a hawk eye on the cold level...also check where it's parked...Should it be losing coolant and none was observed under the car smell the exhaust for a sweet anti-freeze smell....I can smell it a mile away...matter fact last night when I got in from the beach I whiffed the grill and the gap between the fenders and hood...thought I caught a whiff of burning oil....Twas a negative...Also observe the exhaust for water dripping or steam....steam is OK if it's cold out as a hot muffler forms condensation when rapidly cooled in cold temps..You can also remove the radiator cap and look for bubbles in the
tank when the engine is running....I run a product called Bars Leak in all my rides...it stops leaks and more importantly lubricates the water pump...there are also corrosion inhibitors...whenever you add water either used distilled or the 50/50 blend anti-freeze...minerals from tap will fekk your sheet right on up...
I gather much from the diagnosis....there should be a vacuum....Bullsheet...Vacuum must be mechanically applied...I've seen the coolant machines...never one that draws a vacuum...I prefer to spend the time and fill the system the good old fashioned way..That also gives me time to listen to the engine run...ACs are another story as you gotta pull a good strong vacuum on them...Being the mechanic called out the head gaskets makes me doubt him....well actually I think he was upselling...there are a ton of places for anti-freeze to leak besides the head gaskets...Keep a check on the level..It may drop a little in the first week...that would be normal as I often add a little after about a week of running...I'd check into the Bars leak and it should be readily available at any auto parts and maybe Wally's Wurld...Should the head gaskets be leaking I'd likely trade it in...I doubt they are but it's possible...
Got my crown molding up....saw my limb cutting neighbor and was happy when she ignored me...Got the bluish purple ankle from Hell...Resting wasn't in the cards so I hobbled on...I've cut almost 5 acres of grass the last two days.....it's growing already....No damage from an almost direct hit from Ana...It hit a little South but that puts us in the highest wind zone...The ditches down East look like lakes...but all was good...The tide wasn't right for the shark teeth...When low tide arrived I was beat so I'll just try again next time...the bath will be complete with a finalization of the paint line between the baseboard and wall....a mirror....some towel hanging thingys and maybe a shelf for my stuff...I'm sure something else will crop up....let's hope it's an easy fix.........
