Tomorrow's a little more coffee roasting, then some grinding and sending out packages. I've taken to pifing kawvee :)

Summertime is perfect for cold brew coffee. Nicaragua San Jose has marvelous chocolate tones, as does Bali Paradise, and the Costa Rica r&s has caramel notes.

Cold brew concentrate is good for either cold coffee or hot. You get all the flavor of the beans, and very low acid, a win for anyone who likes a good cuppa Joe :)

Mark, they sound wonderful! I've only started drinking iced coffee about a year ago, couldn't stand it before then. My daughter brought me one from Dunkin and it has become a thing for me each workday (3x per week) ever since! :)
I have a Keurig which can brew over ice, but I like dunkin better. So.i.buy. The "reg cream and sugar" on top of their syrups is what I blame these extra 10 pounds on as well! Lol

Enjoy your brews!!!

If you have a spare glass pitcher you can make your own cold brew concentrate.

Coarse ground coffee, 6 fluid ounces of it with a quart of water. Stir a little, then cover the pitcher with Saran wrap or foil and let it sit on a counter 12 hours.

Strain it through cheesecloth, a second optional strain is putting it through a coffee filter.

(I use a French press, but the above works fine )

The concentrate lasts for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Mix it 1:1 with plain water, for either cold or hot coffee. For hot, just microwave the coffee cup for a minute or two.

If you want to try making your own cold brew, I'd be happily to send you some fresh roasted coarse ground beans. (This also works okay with generic store beans, a breakfast blend version is good to use, just make sure it's ground coarse.)

Roasting is actually cost effective. In my case I have a neat little setup in the new mud room/entrance from the addition to our house I put on some years back.

I cool the roasted beans in a stainless steel colander, in a little wood frame with a small fan on top, right next to the roaster setup.

The puppies love the smells.

Coarse ground coffee, 6 fluid ounces of it ???.... or is it 6 ounces by weight coarse ground coffee with a quart of water ?

I'd love to try your roast Mark.

Have you ever tried a dark roast for your extract ?

180ml of coarse ground coffee :) I'm too lazy to bother weighing. I use a small air roaster, each batch fills a 9 ounce mason jar; for my own use I grind 2/3 of a jar when I make cold brew.

Happy to send some to you :D

I've done dark roasts for a couple of friends, but tend towards the lighter end, city and full city. By the time I get to Vienna the beans are losing their own characteristic notes.

Since getting around to cold brew, that's my preferred drink - I love the flavors that come out, and the low acid nature of it is noticeable.

I sent some Bali Paradise to a friend in WV and she had us all drooling, posted a photo of a beautiful latte that she made, in a gorgeous setting :D

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh................... last thing I need is another hobby ;)

Good morning, all.

Getting ready to meet my son and get my grandson for the week

We will be water park hopping and spending time at my sisters pool in between. This will be the last week that I have him this summer and next summer he will be another year older :( I keep telling him that he is not allowed to get any older. He is at such a fun age!

Hoping that everyone has a great week. :)

30 ml Strawberry Flavor (TFA) $5.35
30 ml Boysenberry Flavor (TFA) $4.85
30 ml Raspberry (Sweet) (TFA) $4.85
30 ml Bavarian Cream Flavor (TFA) $5.35
30 ml Caramel (Original) Flavor (TFA) $4.85
30 ml Cinnamon Danish Flavor (TFA) $6.85
30 ml French Vanilla (TFA) $4.85

Happy Birthday Wharf!!! :)

Mark, your house has got to be the best smelling one around!!!!

Oly, your flavors look awesome!!! If I could add another one or two it'd be cotton candy (to sweeten) and another cream like fresh cream or sweet cream or even whipped cream. The Bavarian cream is awesome too. I like to mix a couple. That is an awesome start for sure!

Salem, I am tickled that you're getting your grandson again and know that you're going to have a blast with him this week! Can't wait to hear about it!

My return to work starts tomorrow! I've had a nice week off with my family and am ready to return.

Hope you all have a good night! :)

Got my Clapton wire yesterday....Had a duh moment this morning....It's called Clapton wire because it looks like a guitar string....so I'm calling my coils Van Halens....Worried about resistence and seeing what others had coiled I went with 8 or so wraps and came out at 1.73 ohms......way higher that the .9 or so I was shooting for...So I dropped a couple of wraps and Dangitt!!!! Just checked the Dagger and it shows 1.50 on the nose....Still higher than I wanted but I ran with it....I got some SS Clapton and now that I ain't skeered of the ohms I'm gonna get some fused Clapton wire....It kicked the KF5 to another level....I'm dang sure liking the KF5 now.....
