5-6 years ago hubs painted a 1968 Cadillac for a guy in his 30's. Young but he loved those old caddys. Hubs painted it in Aqua blue and put a hood scoop on it. We saw the car around a few times but never saw the guy again til today. We heard that caddy coming for a long time before we saw it pull up in the yard. Still looks good as ever though he drives it year round. He bought a four wheel drive pick-up that he wants to make inspectable and put a plow on it. He dropped it off this evening. We won't see him for another 3 1/2 weeks. He's a TT driver and single still.

It's going around here too. Pokey's oldest missed a whole week of work last week. Youngest missed a couple of days of school last week, felt better for a few days and was sick again today.

House hunting continues. We had a good showing with the agent, but she wants a Buyer's Agent contract...that's a nope for me right now. I'm not feeling inclined to guarantee a commission in writing when she didn't do any leg work on this place besides showing up and unlocking the door. The house itself is decent, but it does have some issues that would need to be addressed, along with about a $10k drop in price. They have my number if they want to really talk :)

I've never heard of that Bov. There is always contracts here.
Was she the seller's agent or your agent?? So without a Buyer's Agent contract, an agent could drive someone around for weeks, or in my case months, and then the buyer could say I'm not going to pay you a commision or give it to a friend ???

In Ca there is a 6% commision. 3% goes to the sellers broker/agent and 3% goes to the buyers broker/agent. Traditionally the brokers takes 1 1/2% and the agents gets 1 1/2%.
Dad was a Broker for years. He paid 90% to his top agents. He said he made more from the 10% from top agents than he did from the 50% from the regular agents.

I'm sorry you couldn't sleep, Fran. Thinking about you and Hubs for the Dr appt today.

Wharf, the house showing appt was supposed to be with the seller's agent, but she got sick and sent a different agent in her place. It's not so much that I'm against having a buyer's agent, but I didn't like some of the terms of the contract. The main one that stuck in my craw was binding myself to her for 6 months + 30 days after the end of the term. I can not talk to, view, or negotiate with anyone else, especially owners or 'for sale by owner' properties. Really? I can't talk to the owners to find out about the little things, about what they like and don't like about their home?

I don't have a problem with a buyers agent taking their cut for the work they put in, but is he/she really working for the best price for me when her pay depends on the price I pay for the property? I'm a tiny piece of chump change in the grand scheme of the real estate picture because I'm very limited on what I can afford, and she was told that from the git go. Along with the contract she emailed, she also asked if she could show me a property that she was "sure I'd fall in love with" at more than double the price I told her was my top end.

Maybe it's just this particular agent that rubbed me the wrong way, but my gut screamed "tag teamed with a bait and switch." :(
