I didn't slant mine... They work just fine level in my two. Do have to squonk a little longer, but that's probably as much because the RxW doesn't wick as fast as cotton does rather than how they are mounted. But that doesn't mean you can't.
I do slant mine slightly and use a longer tail down onto the deck.
England acquired many Cypriot immigrants in the 50/60's so I guess Papa_Lazarou could be as English as you can get.......

I have my coils on an ever so slight tilt and my wicks are longer like mentioned by Rattler and FB. I don't find myself squonking any harder or longer than any of my other atty's like some of you. My RxW wicks as fast if not faster than cotton or KGD when I used it before. I guess I just have one of those super squonk fingers!!! Here's a pic of my wicks...

I'm using it on a grand. I think I'll lower than resistance a bit. I'm a mouth to lung also. I've put the rm2 back on the last few days..I'll play with another build this weekend.
I've paid attention with so many that do slant their's and thought about slanting mine for a try. But with the vape being so good as is and how long the RxW lasts, it will probably be a long while before I rebuild them.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.....I keep hoping the nuppin will develop a problem so I can try some MM wire in it but right now it taste so good I would not dare change it.
I hear you, the builds are not broke. I'd change my builds on them no problem if there was a need to. But there is no need to.

Tis the season I guess. I have a registered post package that stopped moving when it got to Sofia, Bulgaria - has not moved again for 12 days so far. The postal there was probably trained by the same place that Israel Post was.

Took a little time to get the coil mounting down. Tried a couple of wicking styles before I got what I think is a nice setup and I chose a perfect juice for it. She hits well above her weight. Nice. Nice. Nice.
What a week this has been - this little beauty, a Chalice, and a gifted Cyclone w/afc. My reos are purring.

Man, it packs a punch, doesn't it. Twisted up a .5ohm setup and it's giving me all I can handle. Impressed.
