My Nuppin' made it across the Atlantic a few days ago - and I must say Pete was a real gent to deal with :)

I knew hanging around in these parts was going to cost me

Finally got it coiled up and running today and I'm very impressed with it - it looks great and certainly packs a punch! Because I like to run my Reo with a kick I guess I coil mine a bit differently than most here - a single coil of around 9/10 wraps of 0.3 mm wire (which I think is 28/29 AWG) round a 2mm bit which gave me 1.7 ohms, with some KGD cotton. I also have the AFC turned right down (about 1.5mm I'm guessing) but I'm getting plenty of taste, throathit and vapour from it. I've not tried that many BF atties but for me it is definitely up there with the best of them.

My only problem is that I now have three BF atties I like and only one Reo

Maybe you got mine.

I live in Vancouver, about 2.5 hours north of pdib by car. Granted, there is a national border between us, but I would consider that pretty close proximity, never the less.

Where did the USPS route my Nuppin' through? Wait for it...... Israel. Yup, the middle east is where it's been sitting for over a week.

You are now closer to it than I am, so I'm thinking they maybe just sent it to the nearest customer. :)

Note: Peter is not at all at fault - he meticulously labelled the shipping info correctly (and even alerted me to the routing snafu).

What????And USPS wonders why it's going broke

If Canada Post had sent it to a country on another continent I would suspect misguided outsourcing ("if we route packages through Greenland, we save paying domestic salaries and fuel charges for all but the last 4 kilometres").

Isreal Post happily let me sign on to get updates, BTW - very nice web site; even told me the exact minute the package arrived to them.

Loving this thing more and more.

Oddly I find this attie more picky about drip tips than any other I have tried. Once I got the right shape/length/diameter DT my love for this attie doubled

I had some issues at first but managed to vape a 3ml mini bottle in lightening speed. LOL. Mine was more of a coil placement tho.

I might have gotten this all wrong, but I think, the problem is the parcel type.

Rob's "Delivery Confirmation International" is always delivered in time, 5 to 8 days.
The parcel travels via Frankfurt airport, which means by airmail.
And the tracking info is close to realtime, even here in Germany:

On the other hand, "International Letter" seem to take forever.
The parcel enters Germany via Hamburg harbor, which means by ship.
LokiLab's last parcel took more than 2 month to arrive here,
And the tracking info ends with the last US sort facility.

Different to air cargo, ships don't leave harbor on a daily basis.
Depending on your order date, the parcels may hang at the departure harbor for days/weeks.

Personally, I only buy from US shops offering "delivery confirmation international".

Yep - double jeopardy.

Do we want to know what you're previous dealings with Israel Post were?

I'd guess no... but about 15-16 months ago it was dealing with Yizhaq & Yaeliq Rozenberg... some of the worst premade joose I've ever bought.

Before that... I had a sawyer friend there I used to buy exhibition grade Old World Olivewood from until around 2005... and did mail/packages for many years to/from a film producer friend from the years I was a film location coordinator for many of the film production companies/studio's for several years in Carmel, Ca during the 70's.

Hey, caup. Not sure if you were referring to my shipping issue, but if so, the problem is far more than parcel type. Instead of travelling 200 km on the same continent (NA), it was sent to Israel (10,000 km out of its way).

Clearly, nobody (least of all the Israelis, I suspect) intended for this to happen.

That for sure is a hell of a detour, unbelievable.
You don't happen to live in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv Drive ?

Papa_L, I meant your post but accidentally picked the wrong reply button.

Heh - nope, my address contains no reference to anything vaguely middle eastern and my name is about as English as you can get.

Well USPS is certainly full of surprises :)

My surprise was that it got to the UK in 7 days posted first class, which was a day quicker than my Reo which was posted priority!

You win some you lose some I guess - it probably depends what bin somebody throws it in at the airport. Well worth waiting for though :)

I found the Nuppin hits harder than my other RBAs. So I had to build to slightly higher ohm and made sure that the coil was up high enough to be in front of the air hole. Because of the height it also takes a longer squonk so watch it with the drip off for a few squonks to re lean how long a press you need.

I feel the same about the nuppin hitting harder. What is the reason for this?

Two possible reasons I can think of;

It might have a lower voltage drop

But I believe it is because of the combination of a small chamber and the height of the coil. More air can flow around the coil picking more heat and vapor. But the small chamber keeps it from cooling off to much.
