I don't even know what to say at this point. This is my 1st thread on
this Forum, and unfortunately it is about my stupid leaders. I am in the
Army and born and raised in Brooklyn. I have seen this city, at one time
the greatest place on earth, fall into the hands of the rich and stupid.
The Middle Class has vanished leaving hard working people living hand to mouth,
and Hipsters getting large allowances from their parents to get a bigger place
in GreenPoint. The hard working "Working Girls" have been pushed
out of Time Square to make room for Disney.

My heart is Broken, and I can't even have an ecig cause 21 out of 4 legislative
members are idiots.

Nuff Said!

Stop calling them e-cigs and remember to call them Personal Vaporizers!!

People hate cigarettes and anything associated with them.

Emai/calll your reps today. Do not just say it - DO IT

At this point it doesnt matter what we call them. The government doesnt care about what they are called either..They see a larger deficit with the Tobacco industry sales decreasing due to "Personal Vaporizers"!! Either way, it all revolves around money. If the Big Tobacco companies are giving money or not does not change the fact that the already cripled economy will suffer more from decreasing tobacco sales. Its a large industry guys.. You wud be suprised.

I seriously doubt its just big tobacco, I'm sure big pharma was lobbying for this as well, PV's would seem to be a serious threat to their patches, gums, and drugs like zyban and chantix. Everyone makes a big deal about the dangers of tobacco and secondhand smoke, here comes an tobacco alternative that's actually effective and minimally offensive to non smokers at best, and we're gonna ban it? But still keep real tobacco nice and available? What part of any of this makes sense? Only a fool would think this has to do with anything but money. The government does not actually care about your health and well being so long as you live long enough to contribute to the system and create more worker/consumers for it. Not saying there's anything wrong with contributing to the system or creating more worker/consumers, we need that, I'm just saying the government should care about our health and well being, instead of selling off that and our rights to the highest bidder. I Just discovered these amazing devices, I can see it actually changing my life, and the fact that it might get taken away from me and I might have to continue my already 14 year cigarette addiction, because of the greed of politicians catering to the greed of corporate America under the guise of the lame argument that "We have to protect our children" and "we don't know enough about them and they might be harmful", makes seriously nauseous. We don't know enough about them? How bout doing some research instead of just sweeping a possible miracle tobacco treatment under the rug? They might be Harmful? MIGHT BE! and I'm sure inhaling vaporized ash and soot from a burning leaf containing hundreds of chemicals other than nicotine is so much safer than just nicotine, a couple med grade moistening agents, and flavoring. Gimme a break, The government needs to stop trying to babysit us any way, your body should be your right. And protect our children? First, I seriously doubt PV's are going to be the next big craze among teens, second, even if they were, I don't have kids, but if I did I know I'd rather my kid get his hands on one of these than an analog cigarette. Easy solution, restrict sales minors and have strict regulations on its sale. Parents talk to your kids about nicotine. don't let the government raise your kids for you. But I'm sure I'm preaching to the quire here.

I know most of us say the kick-backs are the reason, but can anyone prove it. You should be able to go thru their money received campaign books and somewhat prove they got money from the big tobacco. I would think we would have people in our group that could find it in some sort of public records.

No one can really track a bride can they? Big tobacco is big tobacco.. People with money rule the world.

When it comes right down to it, I suspect this has a lot to do with pure ignorance on the part of our legislators. I'm sure the tobacco and pharm industries are pushing for the ban, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are directly paying elected officials for legislation. Instead they are playing on the fact that legislators don't take the time to actually research the ramification of the legislation they pass.

The American society today is such that our politicians play to a "feel good" mentality. Take, for instance, No Child Left Behind. Who could argue with legislation whose name sounds so good? It has been well documented that cigarettes are bad for your health. I'm sure our legislators believe they are protecting us from the evils of smoking by passing electronic cigarette bans. They do so without realizing that they are actually taking away a viable alternative which allows us to break away from the addiction to cigarettes.

Although I'm not from New York, I did e-mail several New York legislators in an attempt to provide them with research to make an informed decision. I seriously doubt even one of them actually read my e-mails.

When you think about it, an e-cig is a battery and a heating element. I really don't see how 2 every day items can be banned. I think they are going to fight about it for a while but in the end what can they really do. The only item they would actually be able to control would be the juices and although I haven't tried yet, it does seem easy enough to make them.

kick-backs may be not the case here. but ... the FDA receives funding from the pharmaceutical companies that make the nicotine gum, the patch, and the nicotrol inhaler inhaler. FACT. these products have a riduculously low success rate for quitting. E-cigs, while not touted as a smoking cessation device, has about an 80 percent effective rate for those trying to use them to quit cigarettes.
so the FDA has a financial stake in seeing e-cigs go in the toilet. and yes ... ill call them e-cigs. im not afraid. this is america is it not? freedom of speech and all that?
Big tobacco obviously has a financial stake.
Our elected officials biggest problem is stupidity and ignorance. oh yeah .... and stubbornness. we try to educate them and they wont listen. cant say i blame them really, all the smart ppl dont want the jobs :p

As far as an outright ban ..... NY still has a long way to go. yes a bill was introduced. yes that bill got passed. many more trials before its made into law. may be a few years yet.
If it Does pass ... well ... Sad, Sad day for Americans everywhere. Next thing you know we'll be putting ppl in prison before we prove their guilt and censoring our music and literature. oh wait ... are we .... can it be ... A Solcialist Repuplic? lmao .... thats the direction were headed. time for revolution? heh :p

One day due to this forum, I followed the money from Big Tobacco and the funds given to certain associations, I followed the pharmacutical companies and what drugs they make, etc. It is all connected. People here probably already know all this but when you smoke you are not thinking about it or you push it to the back of your mind. Once you follow the money it will disgust you. They are all working together and they are working together to keep you smoking and that is enough to make you never want to smoke again!
