Hello. I have upgraded my gear to OBS Engine RTA and have Eleaf iPower 80w. I used the stock coils that came with the tank. However, first two vapes are barely visible, only after 3-4 I can get normal clouds and the issue is that the tank gets really hot, and the vape is hot to my lips. Decided to build with demon killer alien clapton premade coils. And the issue remains, first 3 vapes are barely visible after that I get enough clouds but the tank gets very hot. After putting two alien claptons to the base, I got 0.17 Ohm. Want to know how much Ohm would be enough for my 80w iPower, to get enough clouds and to evade hot tank and vapor.
Also, I vape 100vg juice, maybe thats the issue, because its very thick.

If you don't wick it correctly for 100% vg I would say yes that's one of your problems. I have dual aliens in my engine. .23ohms at 65watts. 90% vg juice. Never a dry hit, great flavor and great clouds.

Thank you for the information. However, the question remains why my tank becomes very hot and only after 3, 4 vapes I get enough clouds. Should I try different coils, that have higher resistance? Also, do you mix your own juice? If so, can you share any recipe that is your favorite? Thanks

You can't use big coils. Try using 2.5mm id coils. Set the coils even with the top of the posts or just a bit lower and keep them in close to the posts. 3mm claptons will get hot.

I run 3.5 mm ID SS 430 claptons in mine. Set as high on the posts as they will go.
I have no problem with heat, but I take 5-7 second hits, 75W @ 440F and don't normally chain vape.
I don't have problems with mine either but I'm like you and don't chain vape.

I also have the same problem here... obs engine just arrived from China, I build two aliens coils 3 mm diameter 0,27 ohms...I was trying to vape at 80 watts but the device got very hot and I experimented some liquid in my mouth. I will try a different build with 2.5mm set the coils high and I have to take a closer look at the wicking...just put it a bit in the holes not filling the holes... it is terrible when you feel hot liquid in your mouth...just need some help here...waiting for your reply

The wicks have to touch the bottom of the bas make sure, that the juiceholes are filled 100% with cotton.

A little bit of spitback after filling is possible, but after 2 draws or so it should go away.

If you use thinner liquid (50/50 or even higher PG), you need more cotton in those channels. Then you should go for an ID of 3.5mm.
Although me personally, I wouldn't install aliencoils in the Engine, because I think they get too hot.

I had many issues and I experimented a lot. However, I decided to throw my claptons away and made simple dual coil build. I used stainless steel (SS304) 0.5mm. Two coils, 9 wraps on 3mm. I am using this build for a few months now and have no issues anymore. I think my battery was not powerful enough for the alien claptons.

Idk if your issue has been solved but it sounds like a short. All of the obs engine tanks have the lower bits press fit together and their qc is not the greatest, there have been issues like this before or with them leaving some material in between that would arc.

Is there anyone Who installed notch coils on obs engine? Do they fit on this tank? Notch coils have 5mm diametre. I don't know If they can fit and I want to buy some notch coils. ..
Don't waste your money. Notch coils are horrible. And no 5mm coils won't fit in the engine.
