So I decided that I'm reaching 30 and I want to stop smoking. Why?
- Intro:
I do 2-3 packs a week. I never went more and I never went less than this. I studied my reactions and persistance to smoking and the more I observed, the more I realise I just want a smoke and the bitter cover that stimulates my oral pathway. I find that if I begin taking in too much, I get headaches and a slightly nauseating feeling of heavyness in my head. If I dont have it, I get irritated, less tolerant, less relaxed, and increased craving. Within the two extremes, I sit in the comfortable zone of smoking when bored, craved during a snack desiring like session, and the usual morning, after eating and after stressful event situation. I did not end up with the chain smoking like increase because I realised I did not crave nicotine as much as I crave something in my mouth. This when observed deeper made me realise I had craved the oral habit of smoking more than the nicotine effect but of course the dopamine release is still left for wanting.
The dilemma:
I have tried replacing it with pepsi/coke which worked for a month. I stopped altogether which worked for a month, tried chewing gum which did not work at all and finally began being introduced to the electronic smoking/vaping arena:
What strike me as this being the one to save me is these factors:
- When I stopped, I realised my room was cleaner, no stockpiles of cigeratte packs and ash lying about and in the entire air in the room i breathe over elongated periods.
- I did not burn my mattresses, my cot, my skin, my mouse, my keyboard, my wires and cables...all of these free from ash too or else it would be a muck of dust and ash.
- I was hungrier, breathe deeper, and more aware as well as active. Also, my chest expended away from sticking onto my sternum but so did my tummy for a while.
Now, vape tho....somehow circumvents every single problem and every single advantage i have with smoking tobacco. Now dont get me wrong, sure ppl can meddle with your liquid if you are stupid enuf to buy from a person on the street rather than a registered shop on the block.
But I also realised, duuuude, its not so easy to care for your vape. You need to learn alot of things and also repeatedly go back to these vape shops so WHY THE .... WOULD THEY MESS WITH YOU SHYT?!! Of course they want repeat patronage right?
So anyways, I dropped the hallaballo of vaping behind and said, this year....this year, is the year everything change. I will stop smoking, I will become more active, I will eat healthier, I will move out of the country so I can practice in a place where I feel belonged...etc etc etc.
The first step...was vape.
Now the problem is, I have experienced some side effects, however, I think it is 65% caused by my relapse from heavy hitting the nicotine with smoking puffs.
They are:
- Nausea that occured when Im overly hungry but unable to eat yet. I attribute this to increase salivation which is attributed with smoking withdrawal symptoms.
- A little rougher feeling in the esophagus region rather than the upper oral pathway
- Flem, mucous buildup thats seemingly close to sore throat but without pain with a little associated flu like symptom that does not block your nose but sticks behind your nasal cavity opening into the oral cavity. This could be again attributed to smoking withdrawal symptoms
I hate being optimistic without objectifying it first from the subjective. So let me ask you all, am I deluding myself or did any of you experienced this days after stopping cigarette smoking and beginning vaping?
Thank you for your time, attention and effort in helping. Love and light to thee, adonai!
