So i've been using my big baby beast with the rba base for a while now (probably more than a month) i've rewicked it for the 4th time i believe now, never really had an issue with it exept for the occasionnal leak. I still use the .3 coil that's installed from factory in it (haven't built any and don't have wire atm for it anyway) i recently got a predator 228 mod for the battery life since it uses 2 18650, but last night after wicking it, my mod now won't read the tank at all as it says it keeps shorting out or dosen't detect it at all. On the other hand that same rba is detected and reads fine on my aspire nx75..... I'm kinda lost as to why or how ? (the build by smok is suposed to be a .3 reads at .36 as of writting this) I've tried numerous times to screw and unscrew to no avail so any help or suggestions are welcome.

Sounds like the classic Wismec Predator... Mine started doing that and when it did read, the mod started getting hot as if something was shorting out (not the batteries). Getting rid of it was the best thing I did.

Might be possible the firing pin is a little shorter and isn't making connection on the 228? Do you have something else to test on it?

1st- Did you try a different tank on the new predator?
I've had a similar problem to find a small coil clipping down the 510 hole on the mod. Very tiny, but was shorting the mod down.
I've also used a small piece of wire to poke & pull the connector in the 510 hole.
Also have found, one quick run of a nail file to the bottom pin on tank to get a connection going.

Give the things I mentioned a try......

Mine didn't get hot at all still cool to the touch and reads my fat scylla tank fine while it wont read or fire my baby rba.

I have tried my Fat Scylla on it, reads and fires with no troubles. Also i doubt it's anything you mentionned since the rba fired with no issue before i rewicked it. My only guess atm would be that i'm shorting it out by having the rba base inside too tight. Also to note that it sits flush on my predator while it hangs on my nx75 (about 1-2mm of space between the mod and tank on the aspire). The 510 connector is stiff and dosen't move with the rba and there's no wire going out from it it's all inside.

I'll also add here that whenever i pull the batteries out and back in + unscrew and back in the tank it sometimes ends up reading it fine but after a couple vapes shorts out and won't read anymore. I've been using that rba on my aspire mod since last night with 0 issues didn't short didn't heat up nothing.

I'm starting to wonder if it's the chip on the predator that's faulty....... It reads my scylla coil at .51 when my aspire reads it at .55 Kinda weird....Readings (when it works) for the rba are about the same though (.34-.36)

My predator does the same thing with my Medusa Reborn with a 0.29 build in it. But the ohms on my tesla says 0.21. I think mine does it because the 510 pin is pretty long on the medusa and maybe too tight
I'm guessing that's my issue too. Because of the rba base on the big baby the 510 pin is pushed outwards and does not spring back anymore (which is why it leaves a space on my nx75) i've unscrewed the rba and put it back in, seems to do fine for now.

NB: Pretty sure it's not the first time i have issues to use the big baby rba, last time it was my nx75 that didn't read it and kept telling me it shorted out, the only thing i did to fix it was the same as now : remove the rba base and put it back in. Usually that works,i've had practice on wicking that thing a couple times now and i know it's not the coil itself that shorts out but rather when you screw it too tightly,it's one of the many reasons the baby rba is not really good, but hell won't complain since it came free with the tank :p I can at least know that way if i really want to get an rta next month.

Update: Pretty sure it was indeed the coil as now the predator reads it fine after i screwed the rba back unto the base a bit less tight i've been vaping it for a bit and it still fires fine. Reading at .34 atm firing at 40 watts.

For anyone reading this and having baby rba base issues watch them threads ! Too tight will short it too loose and well..... Leaks of course. Mine's pretty much finger tight more than that and my predator shorts it (not the aspire oddly enough)
