I agree I am very confused with this.
I accidentally did this. The contact is on the inside of the locking ring, not the bottom. As long as it's not dangling down to the center post, there is no possible way to short. Everything near the locking nut is on the negative side of the coil.

Rebuilt with the double wick, and am finally in Ody bliss. No problems what so ever. So much bliss I'm ordering some juice at a lower nic level since I can see myself chain vaping this.

Now I just need more of em for different flavors ;).

That makes sense Z! So, I should use double wick all the way down, not just where the coil is?
Sorta. When I was trying to assemble, one of the 4 wicks (2 each side), got caught in the threads, and tore up. Most of it got sliced in the threads, and pulled away.

So in this case I'm double wicked on one side, to about the bottom o-ring, and on the other, double wicked to the bottom of the locking nut, and then single wick from there down.

No problems with the build, so the key is no gap in the channel at the locking ring.

Are you talking about the negative or posative wire?

Negative...

But rereading Imoes post, what he considers positive, I see as negative. And I probably mis-stated.

Two connections.. one to the center pin, which connects to the center post via the lower locking nut. The the other to the outer locking nut. The technique is on the later in my experience. I assume Imeo refers to it as positive as he describes it via the flow of electricity (correctly) and not in reference to the actual point of connection.

about the positive wire fright. Dont catch the positive wire between Ody base and big nut, just put it inside the base like you do with the wick. If you want to be totally sure that wire will touch the inside of the Ody base, double it at its end

This I understand.

This technique still isolates each wire from one another, thus no grounding out is encountered.

So, I'm here. Had one of my Ody on my stealth in short body (secondary flavor) and a few days ago got my expansion kit and GGTS base so I set my other Ody up on my main one in full mode. Got the leaking problem, but vapes great (with the dual coil as posted elsewhere). If I'm understanding correctly... just use two wicks throughout (so 2 at coil and go all the way down) and this should solve the problem?

After several tests this method is FAIL!!!

I found a way to STOP LEAKAGE... simply put 4pcs. (A012 O-ring dimensions are 3/8'x1/2'x1/16') or (Metric F0106 8mm x 2mm) inside the base of the ody before you screw in your coil housing... this will prevent any seepage down the channels and out the base.... If your leak still persists than try stepping up to the (P9 8.8mm x 1.9mm metric size 0-ring) with this size I recommend only 4 of them as they are quite a bit fatter... I was playing with my spare parts and it came to me... my ODY is 100% water tight now which means VG or PG will be no issue at all... please make sure to lube these o-rings with vasoline or it makes the coil housing hard to unscrew later... hope this helps all you leakers out there...

Also note with this method wick does not need to be all the way down the channels... the o-ring will cut off anywhere for the liquid to go other than up the channels to your wick and coil... This also means you will be able to use less wick material and will only need to make sure the top slots of your ceramic that pinch the wick are full to impede juice overflow into your coil...

After several tests this method is FAIL!!!

Yeah, that method should work. I have a dual coil setup going on now with double wick. Only one wick is going down the channels, though both of them are squeezed into the very top of the channels (one wick was protruding into tank, but I sheared them off with the mouthpiece by accident). If I really try I can get it a little gurgly, but have refilled several times and have yet to actually flood it.
I think just having that extra buffer at the tops of the channels is enough to keep it from flooding due to overflow into the ceramic cup. If the leaking is coming from the under the ceramic holder, double wick in the channels or Krinkle's method both seem sound
