Hmmmm, will have to keep that in mind :D. I've been vaping away at my desk for the past two years; but while I don't have a door, I don't have anyone around to see me. But if the powers-that-be decide to make a policy, then this is a good option - 'hey, there's no nicotine in this; just PG, VG and some flavoring'

Either that, or bring up all the people dipping at their desks or vehicles while on the job. That'll get them moving away from harassing you too. Then again, I quit that job. You may decide that's not the path you want to take.

I started vaping at work years ago, and no one seemed to mind at first. Then someone read the FDA propaganda report and demanded that I stop vaping in meetings. I think the problem was the visible vapor. Anyway, I did stop for a good long while, but I'm back to vaping without the visible vapor. I'm not real stealthy about it, but I don't exhale visible vapor. People see me sucking on my little stick but that's all. I do cover the light, but I don't try to hide. The guy that complained has never said a word to me about it again, and I vape in every meeting. So, you might have the same luck. They are against you vaping b/c of the visible smoke. Let it go for a while and then see if someone says anything to you when they just see you suck on a tube every once in a while, but never exhale any vapor. It might work for you too.

I'd wager it is someone in your office that complained to HR. They probably didn't just decide one day to make a new rule without prompting.

From what I gather, it was the MD who complained. The vaper (part-timer who still smokes) was a new member of staff and put into a meeting with top brass, just like all new starters in our firm. Vaped throughout, next thing I know I'm being told to stop. Dept manager has OK'd it for desk use, not sure what MD has to say about that yet, it is banned completely in our other office...!

Man I'm suddenly kinda glad I don't work at a desk. On my breaks I go out to my car. I don't really feel like being inside the insanely busy place on my break trying to relax. No one can bother me in my car.

I dunno, the thing I always liked about cig breaks was getting away from the work space for a bit. Even at home. (Outdoor smoker by choice.) so in your situation, I'd probably try to find a very low traffic corridor I could chill n vape, play on my phone, etc, etc.

Heh. So a lot of people are chiming in with opinions. And none of them looked at UK first. I'm sure.

But guess what? Absent something that says otherwise ... if you've got a job, you should mostly be lucky that you have one.

I vape outside at work. Oddly enough, I don't want clouds of even vapor coming around me at work. H

    Here's a neat trick ... we're at a job to .. do a job.

Do your job, do it well and you do well there.
