I have been watching my vaping lately and realize I am getting too many dry burns for optimal atty life. The reason is that best vapes are with just the right amount of juice near the coil; too much is a lousy vape and it's so easy to have too little after a few good full vapor drags. I drip on tube mods 90% of the time.
I think I'll have to load my bottom feeders with 357's since it's a little easier to keep them wet.

I never put another drip tip on the Universal. I like the wide open mouth as is, no splashing and more like a Cannon. Adding another drip tip would be ridiculously long wonky. See
I found 2.0s weren't hot enough for my 3.7 Reos except for maybe the first few hits off a fresh battery at 4.2. I am saving mine for the day I get a VV Grand. My guess is they would be 4.2-4.5.
If you have magnifying glass/loupe or really good eye sight, check to see if the coil is covered with a crust of carbon juice. If yes, you need to get that off for the vapor to return to regular excellence. I've shared my needle method in this thread already, but just ask and I'll find the post or repeat it here. I have to clean mine about every 3 weeks at least to keep them in top form. I have two 1.5s going on 3-4 months of use now--still vape like 80-90% new.

I don't really like the huge opening of the universal for vaping, but its great for dripping, so I deal with it(does look too crazy with a DT on the universal). My coil looks good, and I'm approaching maybe like 2 weeks usage, so I'll clean in the next couple days, I use everclear to soak, then blow and air dry.I never put another drip tip on the Universal. I have noticed though, that I don't think the flavor is where it should be. I would think that its 'broken in' by now, but I'm still not getting the flavor- like if you take a dry pull and exhale through your nose, you taste it. I've tried raising and lowering voltage, not much change. Maybe I should try cleaning it, nothing to lose. Thanks for all your input juicejunky!
It wasn't even that it was spitting, it was more like sucking up juice with the drip tip as a straw!
I have been doing dry burns on mine since about 4 months of getting it. Essentially this is my schedule.
There is no time limit with me.
Once I notice flavor start to wane, get the sink water running REALLY hot, hold the atty with a small set of pliers so my fingers do not burn. Hold it under the faucet and then shake the water out, repeat a couple time.
Shake out all the water and take a paper towel and roll it up and VERY lightly dab it inside so it just barely touches the coil to make sure it pulls any excess water out.
Put it back on my provari and set the voltage about 1 full volt lower than normal and hold the button until it starts to glow.
Let it cool down, repeat. If you smell a bad smell, stick it under the faucet again and repeat earlier stages. Dry burn it again. If there is something stuck on the coil, I VERY lightly will scrape with a toothpick. Dry burn it again until the glow is almost immediate. Re-juice back up and it is now back to normal. I do not even really have any downtime per se.
Takes about 20-30 mins tops.
Granted, this is an advanced cleaning and not for something new to this kind of stuff.

I am debating what to do with mine, the flavor doesn't seem to be there- might try to clean it- I just soak in everclear and then blow it out and let it dry.

I might qualify my warning of "dry burn" by saying it "might" not be good if it's not in the context of cleaning.

BTW, I am using mostly 901's but I like having a LB 510 for a different change-up. My LR LB 510 V2 is a stiffer draw but tons of vapor and different taste. It's a rich or thicker flavor than the 901. I have a stubbie 510 in back up to try as well but I think it's going to be more airy that this stiffer one.
I am having trouble finding an adapter for bottom feeding my hh357 901's.... so far none of the open end stealth adapters from Avidvaper work. I've sent 3 back. The threads on the 901 are different from a standard 901 atty.
I will have to try another brand of stealth open end adapter, or a standard sized OE adapter.
I'm thinking if i try using a bottom feeder more with my 357's I might be able to keep them a little wetter in general. The XL Vmod will feed just by tilting it.

I get a distinct taste from my HHs on the last good puff, then the next one is 'dry', not like bone dry, but dry where you def need to drip. I drip 3 drops at a time, not a single speck of juice has leaked from both of mine, no dry hits, pretty much perfect every time.
As far as the 2ohm short barrel I was talking about above, with the flavor not being so good.... I emailed Hanna, exchanged a few emails, and I am sending it to him to rebuild/tweak/check it out, he thinks it may be 'defective'. He was awesome about answering questions and everything. I sent first email last evening, got an answer this morning. I replied when I got home from work at 6, and he replied immediately to each email until we had everything setup. Thanks Hanna!
So anyway, I decided to break out the long barrel 1.5ohm I got a couple days ago, that I planned on saving for a while. I wanted to see if the flavor was really lacking in the shorty HH, or if that is just how they taste. I have been using it since about 6, the first couple hours it was the same as the short barrel. Now, its f'in great! kljad ajdyykene ajdoia oh sorry, I couldn't see my screen from the vapor clouds, and taste is wayy better already. I'm sure when Hanna sends my other HH back to me, it will be as great as this one. And I think I'll be getting long barrels from now on- not really crazy about the wonky universal tip on the short barrel, but it is necessary unless I want juice dripping off the bottom of my drip tip every time I take it off to drip(also asked Hanna about this, and it will be addressed).

I'd suggest a tallish pyrex d/t so you don't have to take it off... if you want to go all out the Trippy Tip is boss, but Theecig.com pryex has a V2 that is awesome too.
There are so many choices though and different diameter size of mouth piece so there is some experimenting. I like TT flat mouth's. I have quite a few Theecig. ones too.
I don't like a wide mouth tip though; like the 801 atomizer; could never like the feel.
I've been using Pyrex since they first came out and still love them. The glass just lets the juice slide down fast and won't slide up much. So I never have to take it off to drip.
As far a custom, it seems the only variable would be juice pg/vg ratios.i.e. if you want like 80 to 100% of either.

I would try a pyrex tip, but generally don't like how they look. I like a nice streamlined look. Like right now I have a blue aluminum whistle tip, I don't really mind taking it off to drip. I also don't like the huge wide mouth tips, they feel too airy. I want to get some t tips from super t manuf, they look like super quality, with a supposedly huge drip hole. The whistle tip drip version looks sweet. Although I generally prefer acrylic or Deleon tops, the long barrel and metal tips works for me.
