It's So Cold That Iguanas Are Falling From Trees In Florida (and can you guess the cause?) | John Hawkins' Right Wing News
OK, I know it's happened to everybody, prolly about dozen times to me. You just finish clearing your driveway and a big old plow comes by, and then (sigh) you start again. No big thing, right? It happens.
This was different. After spending about 3 hours shovelling, chopping up large chunks of ice, shovelling again, in about 14 degree temp with 30 - 40 mph winds, I finally finished. Put out our trash and recycle at the end of drive. Everything (I mean EVERYTHING) on me hurt. Came in, napped in chair about 45 minutes, got up and re-heated pizza
dinner. Looked out my upstairs window and.....some plow came by and dumped about 4 feet high of rock hard snow about 4 feet deep into the driveway. Halfway buried both toters. Thing is my neighbors drives were fine. Go figure?????
Went out tonight and cleared a few feet just to put the trash. Had to come in after about 15 mins cause fingers were frozen. So now I guess I'll get to enjoy it tomorrow again.
I said a few choice words.....

Well... I've had a pretty good start on the year...
The spreadsheet job I got at the end of last year, ended up being a 45hr billable job. The client is thrilled with the result and I'm ecstatic over the payday it brought in. I've caught up the bills and even paid my estimated personal income tax off. I also treated myself ( and work ) to several things I've needed but just didn't have to have yet...
Got a 27" LCD Monitor for the house... which my aging eye's will thank me for later. I've been running out of room on my work and home computer's main hard drives, so I bought each a SSD drive to replace them with which should decrease my boot times and program load times by 10x ( or more ). I do as much if not more work on my home computer, so I count that in the work area upgrades. I got a new microwave ( 1100w ) for work that can reheat my coffee cup faster than I can fresh brew two cups now.
For the house ... Finally ordered a new electric can opener before the old one ( 20+ yr old maybe ) completely gave out. I also ordered a new media MiniPC for the house and just finished selling the 2 year old one to a friend that is in bad need of a new computer herself, so I'll only have spent about $50 on that upgrade once it's all done with. If my mechanic will call me back, I'll setup a time to have my brake system flushed and bleed, so won't have a soft brake pedal any longer. While I was at it... picked up a new slim wallet and a ball cap to boot.
Knockin' on wood that the streak continues....![]()
