Yep, that explains pretty well why people are having to set the v8 at such a low voltage. Since most clearos are designed to work on a normal eGo, such a drastic jump, without some poly filler to keep the coil nice and saturated at all times, will make it pop. IMHO. I think the v8 is an amazing machine for the price, it cannot be beat, but it looks to be a little overkill if all you use is CEs. There might be an exception on certain clearos that are 2.8ohm and above. Currently, all my clearos are between 2.0 and 2.6.

I am still considering purchasing the V8, however, as I do still have my tanks that I didn't like so much on my e-power. I need to bust them out this week and give them a go at different voltages. Maybe I will like them again? Also, to have more than 900mah in battery power would be very nice;)

Question to all: Does anyone vape a CE2/3/4 past 4.2 volts? Actually, 4 volts is already over my limit. I find it very harsh and unbearable.

The V8 at a 3V setting is still pretty low. I run my E1 Revive V2 (my fav carto right now) at 3.3V -3.4V on it. I run it at 4.0V or 4.2V on my eGo C Twist. I can also run the CE5+ on the V8 around the same settings, after it breaks in. It has a nice open draw on these items, and still gets them kickin'! I do like the V8. If you can swing it, give it a shot. The price is awesome!

It just dawned on me that I could save battery life tremendously, while at work, by purchasing a VV PT.

USB Variable Voltage Passthrough

The one above does not have a battery, correct? Is it a eGo connection? Looks to be... How long is the cable?

If it is anything like the eGo style PT I have, it doesn't have a battery. My cord is 3 feet, which I think is pretty standard. But, it could be different. :(

Oh, one more thing. Don't let the 900mah fool you. These are paired batteries, only using about 40% current, in my 4V example. So, you are using less battery than your Provari, which is using a boost circuit and pulling more current from the battery. The Provari needs higher mah, in order to have good battery life. The V8 does better with less.

Yep the V8 holds a charge for a long time. I haven't used one exclusively to check how long they last me with steady vaping but they seem to last longer than my 18650 on my LT.

Constant Voltage: 4V squared = 16. Divided by 2 ohms = 8Watts
PWM: 7.2V squared = 51.84. Divided by 2 ohms = 25.92Watts. 25.92Watts divided by 40% = 10.37Watts!

Roughly, the PWM device is 25% more powerful than the constant voltage device, in this example, at the same setting. Now, these examples came from the V8. :) But, keep in mind that I haven't had my morning coffee, so my calculations may be off a little. Plus, the V8 does peak higher at times, so the duty would be larger at times.

Thanks LD. You have confirmed what I was expecting to find when scope gets here. Ordered a week ago from Seeed Studio and still has not shipped. I need to bug them. I've already downloaded the firmware you recommend, and I'm ready to install it when it arrives. It will be interesting to look at the LavaTubes also.

I'm a techie by trade, and that aspect of the electronic cigarettes has helped me stay off analogs for over two years after 50+ years of smoking (I'm 70).

Again, thanks.

I agree, the technology aspect of the e-cig was my largest reason for trying them out and is now the reason I stick with it:)

Any kind of gadget is really up my alley

I'm a techie as well. Make sure to hit me up on Skype. You are more than welcome to help me start my test team. :)

V8 all the way man!! The Twist can only go up to 4.8 while the V8 can go up to 6. Honestly though, I like it around 3.3, which doesnt feel weak at all!! I have an eGo style PV and I craved that fresh off the charge hit that I got from it, I was having to charge it twice a day. I now get that same type of hit at 3.3!! Also since you use less voltage on the V8 because of Pulse Width Modulation, the battery life is awesome. I have 2 700mah AW IMRs in mine and its been going strong since 1pm yesterday when I received it and charged up the batteries!! Another great feature it has is the 5 click on/off switch. I had it off for a couple hours last night while I was in a meeting and then I had it off while I was sleeping (from Midnight last night til about 8 this morning and I havent seen a change in vapor production!!! Hope this helps!!

So now the question I have is the ego-c twist or the ovale V8? I am still a newby. I have 2 kgo kits but I love it when it comes right off the charger so I am thinking VV. Which one would be suggested for me?

They are two different animals but I would choose the V8 over the Twist. I have both of them and do like them both. The Twist would be more like your Kgo only a little longer and the V8 is a box mod. The V8 will hold a charge much longer probably more than twice as long. The V8 has large led to see your voltage and it is very easy to change voltages. The Twist has very hard to see numbers and no led but if you just leave it at say 4 V and not change it it works good.

I haven't tried the V8,...yet... But I got my Twist yesterday. The nicest part about the Twist is that it stays the same, on the vapor and TH, from the first hit to the last. It is also smaller (maybe not in the total length) than the V8. The major drawback, compared to the V8, for me is the battery life. I can definitely see where the V8 will win hands down, because of the bigger battery capacity and also the PWM. I haven't found myseld needing higher than 4volts, so the extra 2 volts to reach 6 is not a selling factor.

My recommendation is, if you can afford it, buy both;)

You already have a charger and a cone for the Twist (I think the charger you have for the KGO works from what I have read here. Someone might chime in and say different), so your only investment is $24:)

Oooh, yeah.... I am glad, in a way, that my wife is a non-vaper and definitely glad that she is not a smoker either. She does sneak a few vapes off my PV every now and then;) It would be nice to have a partner in crime, with vaping, but a ton cheaper this way. I think you need to just weigh the options. smaller with no display and goes to 4.8 volts, or larger with a display and goes to 6v... Choices, choices..

Great idea but the wife always wants what I get so 2 of both is alittle much at one time.:p
