Wow, I just nearly killed my Ovale V8.

Short story is, I accidentally glorped instead of dripped when the drip top of my bottle came off...

The juice got all over the connector. By the time I got the atty wiped off and removed, there was considerable juice in there...and I knew that there is no sealed juice well. Yeah, just don't spill juice...I know. But, stuff happens.
So,
immediately out came the batteries, then I quickly took it apart:
A frenzied disassemble job

Yes, that is juice on the circuit board. (the stuff on the left half of the case is epoxy/glue/stuff)

I'm very lucky. It only took seconds to have the leak go directly down to the battery connectors on the PCB via gravity.
Two major design flaws I see here:
1. no sealed or at least water-tight connector seal...really, an O-ring is too hard to do?
2. when standing up as usual, any leak will drip down the circuit board directly to the battery connector wires...ouch.
I have no idea why it didn't short out, but it didn't. I got it cleaned up with some paper napkin folded to points and a Q-Tip. Ya gotta be super careful as those wires are very thin and could easily snap off the at the solder joints if you let the case halves separate too far.
I must say that for $30 it's otherwise pretty well made actually. Only those 5 screws hold it together but they do a good job. I like being able to take things apart like that without an ordeal. Plus, that rubberized coating cleans up perfectly.
Now,
none of this is Eric's or DV's fault...it's mine for spilling.
I just wish it had a decent connector seal. Methinks I'm gonna find some way to shim in a grommet or o-ring somehow.
