I've been browsing all day on my tablet
(yes, I know I should be resting, but it hurts more when I am not "active")
anyway, I think perhaps my best option is go get a CC terminal or CC terminal software. This way I can temporarily get the Credit Card info from the order via a secure link on my website and then delete the info after it's been processed. The only problem with this is that I probably won't have an online order history beyond a few days.
My thinking is security, while I will be 100% concerned about it, if my "host" ever gets hacked at least no credit card data would be taken. I am investigating an option or two. It would still be "manual" but I'd have full control of it and no one would be able to deny me and I could probably write some code that upates the order to paid status immediately so you guys don't have to wait for me to wake up and process. I know I'll pay a lot more in fee's but you gotta do what you gotta do.
So my question is, is it a stumbling block to have people enter credit card details on my website?
Do you think someone would balk at entering cc at my website? (even if using a secure page?)
How do other vendors do it? do they do it this way? I am sure they can't use PayPal so they must right?
Also, thank you to a bunch of people already for not having an issue with the new payment method. So far it's working well.
