The only thing I can think of, is you're changing the contact point between the battery and spring...or the battery and chip contact.
Kinda like when you rough up the terminals of a car battery, to get a better contact...

OK, So what is the proper fix?

Well, if the lower IQ reading persists, the fix is a new battery.
If it maintains a higher IQ after a "one turn" of the bottom cap, the fix would be preventative maintenance i.e. making sure battery ends are clean, spring face is clean, chip contact is clean, threads are clean, etc...
If the discrepancy continues after that, I'd say contact Provape...
As great as it is, the P3 is a new device...and we are all putting it through the paces Provape thought of and DIDN'T think of...
Im sure they'd love to hear any quirky-quirks like this, especially if it's happening to more than one person...

OK I need the IQ Master HB. I tried to stop looking at the IQ but just had to check it just a minute ago. It read 53 poor, so I turned the end cap one thread open and then tight again and IQ read 90 Great. Why?

It was telling you that screwing the cap on all the way was intelligent?

Mine does that all the time. Low IQ, I just unscrew a half turn, rescrew and it's in the 90's.

Mine never reads below 86, but if I want to make my P3 smarter, I can do the same thing, a simple one rotation turn and wham, my P3 is smarter and back up to 91. Nothing has really changed, the battery is the same battery. The threads weren't cleaned. The spring is the same. So why does IQ go up?

Huh HB, Master of all things IQ? Why?

Ps: I think Sir Rod, Master of Lube is an easier appointment, if you ask me. Yes it is!

EDIT PPs: No Lube was slaughtered either. And IQ remains high for several hours after the turn of the screw........

360 always says to yank on your spring. Personally, I like unscrewing and rescrewing.

I hear Classy coming. :)

Here ya go...have at it :)

Read back a couple of posts...I already supplied my royal knowledge on the subject...hahahaha

I read it. It still doesn't compute. There's really no reason for increasing IQ after a simple (un)screw! And even less reason for said IQ to remain higher for hours afterwards.

Hey guys, just had a buddy of mine who makes gun holsters make me a custom holster/case for my new Provari. It's made from kydex and slides in and locks In place. Check it out. It clips right to my belt and makes my Provari always within hands reach while I work. It also fits my old Provari's too. Loving it. Here's some pics with it on 18350 mode.

I hate you now.
I don't even know you, and hate is a strong word...
But envy is even stronger...

Well, it's like I said...when trying to get a better contact on a car battery, there is a little tool us mechanics use, to rough up the surface of the battery post, so that cleaner metal is exposed to make that better connection...
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1418101534.506686.jpg
The inside is lined with little wires (like a wire brush).

You put it down over the battery post and spin it.
Once you've done this, there is "raw" metal exposed...which makes a better electrical connection.
SO...*takes deep breath* this is what I was referencing when I said turning the cap on your P3 can POSSIBLY make a better connection, providing a better IQ reading.
In an electrical circuit, like the one created between your battery, the chip's contact, and the spring...let's just say that carbon builds up on a very small level, at all those points...as evidenced by the little black marks you can sometimes find on the ends of your battery. When you clean those off, you create a better contact surface...
What I'm proposing, is that the IQ feature is sensitive enough to notice the microscopic build up of carbon, during the single use of a battery...and if you turn the cap, you're turning the spring against the battery, and the battery against the contact on the chip, "scratching away" that carbon build up.
My thoughts only. Not fact.
PURELY SPECULATION.
But speculation based on a series of factual experience(s)...
