Cut it out Rod! You are perfectly capable of doing this. Don't think you're the first one with issues. Far, far, far from it!! Yes, who knows why the resistance differences. BTW, thicker wire = lower resistance. Lower the gauge number = thicker the wire. Therefore, lower the gauge = lower the resistance per inch of wire.I'm not sure why at 2mm, a 10 wrap coil with 28 gauge Kanthal comes out higher than 1.55 ohm for me, but somehow it does, on the ohm meter and on my P3. Maybe the new Kanthal I bought is slightly thicker, but one would think they've got it down to nano-differences when they make the coil? This coil building business is somewhat of a mystery to me. I'd stave to death if I had to do it for a living. That's for sure!
You're doing just fine! You got one coil to work. There are many who don't get any to work for a long time.
