Well put....

welcome as well cosmic  great job on switching !!!

Yes this thread is long...but feel free to skip all the posts and just asks questions...no worries if they are something already answered we are happy to help :)

As far as long drags... that is just vaping for ya

vaping still cannot exactly replicate a cigarette in experience ...yet....in terms of quickness - taking a strong short pull that has lots of vapor and throat hit.

The VOLT comes very close with its size/throat hit/and vapor....but not length of time needed on the draw...

that being said .... as you continue on your vaping journey you do get used to it fairly quickly...within a month it will begin to feel natural....and you will have mastered the art of the vape ;) smooth long slow drags... letting it build up in your mouth or throat then inhaling all at once...seems to be the trick.

This is not something that is individual to you....if you look at all the review videos in post #2 of this thread you will see all the expert vapors take very long hits to the point of cutoff on the battery.... this is just vaping

As you are still very new... let me put this bluntly you are in withdrawl from cigarettes...period. You are not on withdrawl from nicotine, but you are on withdrawl from the other 4000 chemicals in cigarettes.... it is these chemicals that create the woozy relaxed feeling when you smoke...so an ecig will never really give you that same effect...you sort of have to accept that and move on and know that you won't be a crazy person during the transition because you are still getting that nicotine.

Some people move to mods with higher voltages... this really just produces more vapor (and can give you very long battery life).... but it moves away from the feeling/action of smoking and holding it between your fingers ....etc... some people do find more satisfaction with more vapor (however drags will still take a long time)... (if I was to recommend one mod vendor it would be altsmoke.com great company)

In the end I think it is more mental then anything... vaping is not smoking ...it will never feel exactly the same nor taste exactly the same...and without all the chemicals you will never have the same physical satisfaction.

But once you accept and embrace that.... I think you will find you like vaping better...

The further you get from tobacco cigs.... the easier it is to let go of them and embrace vaping...

good luck :)

also a few tips:

when in doubt chain vape vape vape till cravings pass
try a pass through.... like the first hit off a freshly charged batt every time
drop 1-3 drops of menthol or lime/citris e-liquid on the center of the carto ups the throat hit a lot!
and as starsong said as some vg for more vapor (but this can cut down the flavor/throat hit)

Good advice but Volt stays at a constant voltage, right? Vapes the same from beginning to almost the end for me. :) So like a freshly charged batt nearly all the time.

When you say in the center do you mean in the little tube? I thought you were not suppose to get any juice in there. Been vaping for 5 months and I'm STILL a dummy.

it does stay pretty constant... but anything plugged directly into a power source will always hit a tad harder (just like a battery will charge faster in a wall adapter then any place else).

No issues dripping down the center really...if it is a few drops... you just don't want to flood it with a lot of juice... AND NEVER while on an auto... but as long as it is not leaking you are good to go :)

And then BAM! The nicotine hits you like a Mack truck! That's how you work out your timing. I had to just accept that this delivery system is much slower, and that I'd have to be a little more patient, hang in there, and weather through the withdrawal symptoms at first. But it doesn't take long before you get the hang of it, and are exactly where you need to be to satisfy your needs.
I don't even remember what smoking was like anymore. I just started school again, and until they can figure out what to do with me (the only vaper on campus), I've been having to hang out with smokers. PHE-EW! The smell!!! Now, THAT'S something I don't miss! :)

The friend I got to order the Volt told her neighbor about it and she ordered one even before my friend got hers!! :thumb: They both have them now and are loving them. :D My friends' daughter likes her mom's Volt too.

Went to a baby shower on Sunday and believe a couple of more will be ordering. :2cool: So if you get more orders from southwest MO in the next week or so you will know why. I'm STILL surprised at how many people don't know about the E-Cig!
Wow. Maybe we should be throwing Volt parties (like they do for Tupperware)!

Just keep putting out the cool, awesome, pretty, fun, funky, fabulous colors and I'll be happy!

hint-hint
Lime green, lime green, lime green..... :)

I'm procrastinating on studying for a big test tomorrow, can you tell?

Hi Cosmic and welcome. If you look around the forum I think you'll find a lot of "chit chat" threads among suppliers and their users/fans. One juice vendor has about two pages of "Good morning" a day lol. They're the closest thing to social gathering among friends on the forum since there aren't specific chat rooms, but quick to try to help and provide info as well.
As far as throat/lung hit and vapor go. Pg + nic = throat hit. Vg = more vapor + slightly sweet with a little less throat/lung hit. Smokeless Image is mostly Pg. I'm not sure what Madvapes is since I've never tried it. 24 mg Desert Joe seems to give me the most throat and lung hit with the SI system.
Another factor is the draw. When you activate the switch, either by drawing on an auto or pressing the button on a manual, you are heating a damp coil to vaporize a liquid. A very light draw won't cool the coil and result in a shorter draw with more and warmer vapor. Pulling on it harder like a cigarette will cool the coil somewhat before it has a chance to produce and you'll be drawing longer to get your fix which won't be as warm either. This is especially true on the auto batteries. If you have manual you can press the button for a second or two to preheat the coil but you can still cool it somewhat by drawing too hard. It's a learned technique but easy to master in a short time. I have to cut my draw short sometimes as the vapor comming through the mouthpiece gets hot enough to be uncomfortable on my lips. As far as other cartos, attys, etc. go I haven't tried any on my Volt batteries. I use the whole SI system. I would caution you on not trying any LR on these batteries as they aren't designed for that and you'll probably fry them. For me, all that stuff is the reason my other devices are on the shelf. I got tired of tinkering, cleaning and adjusting to try to get a decent hit only to face more of the same next night. I do occasionally use a couple of fat bats with an adaptor to drip some of this warehouse full of old juices until they're gone but that's about it. If you do like to tinker with such I'm sure you'll find modding soon. It can be quite the hobby and a lot of people enjoy it in search of the perfect vape. Some here have sold their mods in favor of this simple effective method of staying away from cigarettes. Hope this helps and best of luck on your new vaping journey

I am having a couple of annoying issues. Mainly, each "drag" seems to take longer than I would like it to before I get enough vapor to satisfy me.......and still even at that....I don't really feel the nicotine hit like I used to even from smoking Light cigs (which is what I smoked). I bought some of the blank cartomizers at the same time I ordered my kit, and have been refilling those the past two weekends (which is the only time I smoke/vape), with some juice I got from MadVapes. Started out the weekend before last using 16mg strength, then bought some in 24mg the next week.....couldn't tell much difference. Love those flavors I found though, I just wish I could get this experience completely dialed in to my liking.

Anybody got any recommendations on different cartomizers, attys, etc. that might work better for me with the Volt?
I did try a Smok Tech 901 Black Atomizer 2.5ohm with a drip tip I also bought there, but from my experience with it last weekend, I kinda felt like the blank carts from SI might actually work as good.....or better than that atty did.

Cheers,
Cosmic

This is some of the best advice I've ever read. It would have made it SO much easier for me when I was new.

Don't forget that one of the chemicals in cigarettes is anti-depressant. It can make staying off them difficult if you need it. I didn't know that either, at the time.

Welcome, Cosmic

I don't mean that to sound preachy... it is more what I had to tell my self to commit to switching on my 3rd attempt with ecigs :)

Not preachy - just the facts! Wish someone said the same thing - as plain & simple - to me, especially when I started out.

EDIT: Don't worry ;) - the person responsible for all the "Guy" Fluff  will be back - when no longer stuck w/smartphone.

I didn't realize that. That explains why I went into a depression every time I tried to use the other quitting methods (Cold Turkey, the Patch, etc.) I never experienced that when I switched to e-cigs.

They're called MAOI
Now, in cigarettes they are VERY low dose, but they're there.

MAOIs - What are MAOIs

Note the withdrawl symptoms:

Symptoms that may occur during discontinuation of MAOI therapy include:

•nausea
•headache
•muscle aches
•Dizziness
•electric shock-like sensations in the neck and head

I read a lot. It's interesting.
