Here, there, everywhere!
A big thank you to everyone who has replied. I do feel better hearing that I am not the only one. Truthfully, I do feel going down to 2-3 a day is a huge accomplishment for me. It's friends and family (all non smokers) get me discouraged. They ask me if I smoked and I answer honestly and they say something stupid like "oh, I knew the e-cig wouldn't work" and stuff like that to tell you the truth I then feel like lighting up and blowing the smoke right in their faces LOL. My husband is the exception, he thinks I am doing great.
I guess I need to find my flavor. Yesterday I hated cappuccino and today it's good. I loved Desert Joe and today, with a fresh cart and fresh battery if feels like I am puffing air.
I also have to read about those MAO's in cigs - never heard of that so I will keep reading.
Thanks again
(not so) Overwhelmed

You know at first my hubby complained that the office at home stunk from the juice........I think it smells like great air freshener myself, others as well think it smells great. Finally just told him I was going to give them up and go back to smoking then. He looked at me and has never complained about the ejuice aroma since:)

I do still smoke but nothing like I used to. Some days I smoke more, some days I smoke one.........I still feel like I am ahead of the game!

Truthfully, what worked the best for me was the fact that I used my cig budget to get started with vaping and was cash poor for the next two weeks. By the time I had some money Id already had two weeks under my belt and didn't want to start over.

I have had so many failed attempts in the past. Its funny because each time, I always felt like it was being "forced" on me, even though it was my idea. I felt like i couldn't fail because I would disappoint others. It only made me want to smoke more, and soon I would give in just to end the struggle.
This last time my husband was the only one who knew I was trying. It took a lot of stress out of it and he has been fantastic with support.

This may sound silly, but that first couple of weeks what got my over some of the worst cravings was reading ECF while vaping away :vapor: It helped to know I wasn't alone.

You are all 100% correct - I have to change my attitude. If I added up all the cigs I didn't smoke in the past ten days it truly would be overwhelming.

I also had a terrible nasal drip -really awful - and it is just about gone. I've had it for years and have two different meds for it and I have not been using them. Per my Dr - it won't go away til you stop smoking and I think she may be on to something:) she is also the one who encouraged me to try ecigs as many of her patients had success.

I will try to ignore my nosy friends and just keep doing what I am doing.
Thanks for the pep talks

Ohmygosh! That's exactly what I did to overwhelm any cravings. The more time that I spent on ECF the easier and "less foreign" it became, and the more it satisfied me.

That's my problem quitting cigarettes. I feel like it's being forced on me, even though it's my idea. Exactly! I don't know how to get out of this mind-set. This forum sure does help, though. Sometimes it makes me feel guilty, when I know all these people have given up cigarettes, and I haven't. But it's fun to discuss our favorite flavors and battery colors and just generally share our lives, and that really is what keeps me going with e-cigs, I think -- the camaraderie surrounding it all. I'm really grateful to you all and especially to Imagine, who allows us the freedom to stray from the topic and discuss products other than SI's. That's why this forum is so successful and popular and why we are such a tight community. I'm also grateful to Overwhelmed for bringing the topic up. I think it's helped me to admit I'm still smoking and to know no one is looking down on me because of it.

When my grampa got the volt, He smoked still the first day or so , and then once his pack was gone he said he wouldnt get another one.. i doubted it but he didnt and hasnt smoked in like 2.5 weeks,

I know a guy my age tryin to quit and hes on the patch, but still smokes ocasionally.
The patch wouldnt have worked for me though, Because my habit is alot about the acually smoking of the cigarette, not only the nicotine.

I just want to tell everyone i see that smokes, or is trying to quit.. That there is a better way!!!

I Just wanted to share one of my favorite pep talks from my husband.
I was having a really bad day and was upset with my self for still wanting to smoke. My husband pick up the calculator, did the math and found that on average that I smoked once every 15 to 20 min. He asked "what else besides breathing and blinking do you do that often in a day? Your doing great, hang in there. It takes time to relearn to breath."

Hi I'm new, or rather, about-to-be-new to vaping. I've read a good deal about vaporizors and realated areas all over the web, I found the e-cigarette forum to be the best, also I've settled on the Volt, so that's why I'm here.

I haven't purchased my Volt yet, I still have a few questions that hopefully some people in this thread can help me answer. (This thread is a bit difficult to navigate for information, smokeless image really does need its own sub forum)

anyway...

I don't know which size battery to get, 65mm or 78mm, I'll probably just get one of each (prefering the 65mm), but what is the real-world life of each:
How many 'cigarettes' will I get out of each size approximately?

Same for the cartomizers, real-world use:
How many 'cigarettes' can I expect to get out of one cartomizer?
(I'm coming from American Spirit brand light cigs, which burn slower/last longer than the typical cig, so I'll convert that myself, unless there are any ex-Amer Spirit smokers here.)

Any solid info on the 'new PCC'? I'm putting off purchasing the current slider pcc until I see/hear about the new PCC.

And, any other information, that anyone thinks I need to know or should consider, would be appriciated.

Thanks in advance, everyone here has already been a big help,
Brian

Overwhelmed, Rob (my hubby) is quitting slowly. He's down from a pack and a half to 4 or so a day. So, don't be discouraged! You're doing a great job and have your goal in sight. Think of all those nasty chemicals that you are already banning from your lungs. Those 2-3 smokes will be behind you soon!

Good morning all

I have read through many of the 1659 pages but not all of them. It seems like most people start with their pv and totally give up smoking on day 1. Is this correct?
I smoked for 45 plus years, at least a PAD it more like 25 a day and even though I am loving the Volt I still feel the need for 2-3 smokes a day. I have been using the Volt since January 13thnand still can't say "I quit smoking" and it's very frustrating. Did anyone else slowly wean off this way or am I the only oddball in the mix?
Appreciate opinions and suggestions, I am using 24mg..I have some 18mg but they are not cutting it accept for the menthol burst on occasion.
Thanks for your help

What I can tell you, Is that i tried other e-cigs and the volt has the most awsome battery life!!
So no matter what all those stats are, The volt is the best for a e-cig that acually looks like a smoke.

Also i noticed my cartos last longer than what the makers say they usually will

I can't really estimate how many cigarettes the batteries and cartos would equal, but it would be a lot before you even need to recharge the battery, and then the battery can be recharged a number of times. I think it's a good deal.

As far as the length of the batteries, yes, getting one of each is probably a good plan. I think I like the shorter ones, simply because they fit better in my slider, but I think I'll get the new PCC, which will carry more. See Imagine's post with a description of what it'll hold. Since they're new, no one has experience with them yet, but since they're going to be on sale, I think I'll get one even before hearing how everyone else likes them and then paying more.

As for the flavors, everyone has their favorites, and what other people like best may not be what you like best. Also, what you think you'll like may not be the flavor you actually like best. I got the sampler packs of the prefilled cartos, and I think this is a good way to go. Try all the flavors and decide which are your favorites. And vape all the flavors more than once, since what you like today might not be so good tomorrow, and a flavor you didn't think much of at first might become your favorite. I think one carto of each is a fair trial if you switch them around a lot and get a good sense of your likes and dislikes over time. For instance, I've always hated menthol cigarettes, but I rather like the 2 menthol flavors SI carries. So you really can't tell ahead of time what you'll like and what you won't.

Another consideration is whether to get an automatic or manual battery. I have mostly autos and one manual, just to see if I liked that. Both have their virtues and drawbacks, so you might consider getting one of each to see which you prefer.

I think, even with the new PCC, you'll need a wall wart to charge it and/or your batteries.

That should be the basic stuff you'll need to get started. Of course, once you get into it, you'll probably want batteries in all sorts of colors and drip tips, diamond caps, skins, etc. There's always all those extras to custom-design your batteries, and you'll hear a lot about that here. I have tried to stick with the simplest amount of stuff, so far. I think I'll try those rubber tips, though, when I order the new PCC. I may or may not like them, but they're cheap enough to give it a whirl.

Have fun! I think all the accoutrements make vaping more like a hobby than smoking cigarettes ever could be. Maybe it's like a pipe smoker who gets different flavors of pipe tobacco, different pipes, etc. I think that might be more like a hobby, as are e-cigs.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! I'm brand new and have only had my Volt for about 2 weeks but I absolutely love it!!!!! I don't really have much advice to give since I'm so new, but I'm sure the wonderful people here with more experience will help you! They answered all my questions and helped me make my decision to buy a Volt! I've asked sooo many questions in all sorts of forums on ECF and people were always willing to share their experience and what they know so feel free to post away!!

OK, I do have a few thoughts!! I vape about 4ml a day of juice so I'm a pretty heavy vaper and I just decided to watch how longs my cartos lasted. The first one lasted two days which is normal for a carto, the second one lasted 3 and a half days and it didn't even die!! It just seemed that the full flavor and vapor wasn't getting through as much anymore. (I vape for 6 minutes, wait 30 minutes, and then vape again all day and evening so these cartos get a workout! Once in a while I will be busy and skip a vape but that is not often!) Also, the cartos are amazing because the draw on them is delightful, a smooth easy draw that enables me to get a good hit without having to suck my cheeks in! lol I bought two automatic batteries of the longer length so I can use one while the other is charging. I love the automatic batteries and I personally don't understand the purpose of a manual battery (although I respectfully know that some people really like them!) because I can take a long drag and have never reached the cut off limit where the battery shuts off (if there is one on these). Another cool thing about the battery is that when it's time to recharge it the LED will blink several times. From what I understand, they are 2nd generation batteries which means that they are made to keep an even voltage throughout it's use rather than slowly getting less and less powerful as you vape on it. I choose the longer length since they have more power and if I'm correct, will last longer so I don't have to spend as much time charging them. Also, the batteries are warrantied for 3 months!!! Wow, I was just going to say a few things but I got carried away! I love my Volt and talking about it!

They're actually "MAOI's". Interesting that Big Tobacco chose to include them in their recipe, huh?

Ahem. In the interest of scientific accuracy, and because I am insufferably ...., I would like to clarify that the MAOIs found in tobacco smoke occur naturally from the tobacco leaf itself. :)

We now return you to your originally scheduled programming. :D
