I've been so busy with work and some long ... days that I haven't been able to keep up with my reading. Man you miss a day or two here and it's next to impossible to catch up - things move so fast. But this thread has quieted down a bit. I guess everyone is just loving there Squape's. I know I am. I'm also loving my spaced Kanthal builds too....a lot actually. Good call whom ever recommend them to me.
Junny you definitely have a hot spot if your coil and wick are darker on the one side. I've had that happen before. When it happens I usually just rebuild and start over. Saves time and frustration.
Everyone is leading you in the right direction. Try to make sure your wraps are evenly spaced. After looking at your picture I thought the wraps on the left were touching too. Photos can be misleading though. And I wouldn't recommend dry firing nickel. Makes it all funky'd up.
I spend some time after wrapping my coil to make sure the spacing looks good and nothings touching. Rarely do I get hot spots any more. But it does the time and practice.
Thanks! ill try and recoil and see if it makes any difference. I am trying it on a dripper, think i should change it to another atty and try.
I do find the W deck similar to the KF4 and GT2.. That the wicking part take a bit of careful placement, or it may not wick enough(I chain vape) .. For the B deck, once I figured out the coiling legs to go around the screws from the inside, and ample cotton, I had no issues whatsoever.. No leaks or dry hits at all. I left mine sitting on the table for days and no leaks too!just make sure there is enough cotton to cover the 4 holes and it functions much like an auto rda..
My coil is exactly the same as yours. coil on the inside around the screw clockwise. Still didnt make a difference. I put ample cotton inside and still lots of gurgling which leads to excessive leaking.
I've been using my R (s), dubbed the "SQump", with my B deck exclusively since I got it and it is fantastic. Vaping with this set up using kanthal has been an absolute joy, a denser and juicier vape that's a little better on flavor, and my coils can go a few extra days before rewicking is needed, which was an unexpected surprise.
I never got leaking or gurgling out of my W deck using the SQR but I would occasionally get dry hits when chain vaping, the B deck solved all of that - and still no leaking. I agree with chia, the B deck works like an auto-dripper. Though that added juice flow combined with the reduced tank capacity means my SQump can't get me through an entire day and night, but its a trade off I'm happy to make for the superior vape and sleeker profile.
Once my DNA40 gets back from RMA I'll start using the SQR to experiment with TC which has been kicking my .....
Please post some photos as i want to see where im going wrong!
