Another tip. Be sure your drops per ml is correct for whatever applicator you are using. If you're making small test batches, they may call for drops. If you are using these (they come free with Wizard Labs orders)

They are approximately 40 drops per ml. Most recipe apps have the drop/ml set at 20. Make sure you set it accordingly.

I ordered my PG from Wizard labs last week which is should get tomorrow, that would be nice if they send me one of these with it. Lol! I ordered the rest of my stuff from NicVape.

Honestly, not sure what all the vets around here do, but I liked the 3ml graduated pipettes. (I'm sure as I move to bigger batches or whatever I'll change my mind about that and I didn't use the little droppers at all) but they have lines on the side for each mL and 1/2mL, which made doing 5ml batches pretty simple.

Depending on how it ends up being marked you might not need to do drops at all. :D

Let us know how it goes!
When does your mail come in?

You can find pipettes in most pharmacies. And sometimes in the baking supply aisle at Megalo-mart. Meat injector syringes work too. Nice wide tip for thicker components.

So depending on where I get my pipette from, will it indicate how many drops = 1mL or I am going to be playing a guessing game on that?

Oh absolutely, I'm always willing to laugh at myself so if I mess this up royally well at least I probably had fun nerding with it. I should get my PG tomorrow from Wizard labs, and if I'm lucky they sent me some measuring device for free. Lol. I just got my shipping notification from NicVape just a few minutes ago so I bet I get all the rest by Friday.

I measure small batches of nic with a 1ml syringe, with a slip fit nose (*not* a luer lock because that traps nic, adding more than you want). I don't use a blunt tip needle for that because then I don't have to worry about estimating what is in the needle.

For 3mg in a 10ml batch, that works out to approximately 0.3ml which is slightly less than 1/3 the full contents and easy to measure accurately. The 1 ml syringes also work well for the flavoring, a 10% flavor being a full 1ml draw for the syringe. For some reason I always use a 22g blunt tip needle for my flavors. Just cuz I always have :)

When you figure out what you want for a 50ml batch, then larger 3,5 or 10ml syringes come in handy. And a couple 30ml syringes for the PG/VG.

Somewhere out there
Did you order them, or they came with your liquid? Well I guess I will find out tomorrow and go from there. Lol! If they are marked like that, that would work well for me.

Wizard sent them along for free with some of my orders, I think it was the orders that included flavorings, but I don't recall for certain.

If you don't get any, try asking at a pharmacy for a 1ml oral (or slip-tip) syringe
looks like this Amazon.com : 1 ML TB slip-tip disposable syringe MVI 100/bx (without needle) : Beauty

Ah! Ok my calculations didn't get that for 3mg of nic. Ha ha. Uh oh. I'm just using what the NicVape website tutorial under the DIY section says to do for calculations and um, my numbers are way different for a 10ml bottle. I bought the 25mg/mL nic. I'm getting 1.2mL of that. Did I screw that up bad?

No, I screwed up and assumed 100mg for some reason. You are fine :)

Don't be nervous about this. Worst case....

LOL! Really, if you are using 25mg concentrate you could vape it straight. Might be a little harsh, might be really harsh :) But you won't need the guys in the suits or the paramedics :)

Clo, you'll just use more nic base and less PG than somebody who was using 100mg or 60mg base.

I got the 60mg because my goal is 6mg nic base, and this was the easiest math. 1ml nic base per 10ml juice desired.

A lot of people use 100mg for the same reason.

**EDIT**
With higher nicotine content comes higher danger. Make sure you're wearing gloves when handling ANY nicotine. Be safe!

Seriously, you could vape it straight (25mg). I vape 50mg every now and then, but for short periods. Had some this morning. And I usually vape 1-3mg now, but started at 24mg. There is nothing wrong with being cautious but a lot of people seem to overdo it, which is why DIY seems scarier than it is (it isn't).

When I started DIY I bought a bottle of 24mg nic, and a bottle of 100mg nic. I figured when I was comfortable with working with the 24mg I would play with the 100mg. I think it took one or two mixes :). So it's good to start with 24mg because you can't hurt yourself unless you drink the bottle :). People vape 24mg all the time, and some even 36mg.

The main thing is learning to be neat (avoiding spills just because it's easier to be neat). And learning to measure accurately although accurate measures in your case are not *critical*, it's just nice to know you really have your 3mg and not 2 or 4 or 5. And that is a matter of learning what measuring tools you want to use. Syringes are my weapon of choice unless I mix a batch larger than about 50ml, where I might use a graduated cylinder.

The biggest mistake I've made is when I need to do multiple measures of something. For example, I need 4ml of something and only have a 1ml syringe handy. So I have to be able to count to 4. Which can be a challenge :). So I try to avoid multiple measures, and try never to do more than 2 for an ingredient. That is why I have 1/3/10/30ml syringes and a 100ml grad cylinder. I can measure anything up to 200ml with only one or two pours.

Now you know why I don't like to count drops :). I only do that when I do a 100 drop test kind of experiment. And even then I'll only do drops with the flavors. I'll measure the base and nic with a syringe, figuring the drops to ml conversion as best I can.

If you can mix a Gin & Tonic, you can do DIY :)
