I can build a pretty darn good coil but to save my life I can't get them to touch. They are very close but not touching. I heat the coil to red before wrapping. Wrap it tight and every few wraps I squeeze them together. This is making a micro coil with 29g kanthal. What's the secret to touching coils? I can wrap Em tight but not quite touching.

Bro, that is a great coil! Any closer and it would be solid wire :)

To get then tighter you would need to use at least 4" of wire (so you have a good grip) and wind em touching. It's not easy to get it every time. If you get a wrap that isn't as close as you like, back it off and try again.

I will say that your coil looks excellent and I wouldn't worry about it - great job bro :)

How's it vape?

Vapes fine but if your like me it could always be better. When positioning the coil do you make it lower towards the bottom of the rba or angle it towards the fill hole? I basically set a 16 Guage needle on the end of the rba a tighten it up. Was wondering how the vape would change by lowering it or angling it a bit.

Probably not change much, but I adjust the side opposite the hole down slightly so the juice comes out of the hole and slides down the coil. Totally not necessary, since your setup looks beast, but it is an easy adjustment to experiment with! Keep it up and I'm gonna need lessons from you bro :). Nice build. With this Nextel, I haven't messed with my builds in a week +. They vape exactly the same as they did 6 hits after I built em. I might need to take up a new hobby :)

I guess I should buy some nextel. what size do you use? Im always down to try something new. The cotton has been working really well up to this point. This coil has lasted a good week or so. when it tastes off I just yank out the cotton, burn it, run it under water, put new cotton in and im set.

Bro, cotton is awesome! I just recently started using Nextel xc116 1/32" because my man pdib sent me some. Otherwise I probably never would have even tried it, as good as cotton is.

I picked up the 1/32" from big tex vapors. The 1/32 is the diameter of the hollow inside part.

Here's how I coil em:

Don't mean to derail but am wondering what Ohms your pictured coil came to be, xBodkinx?

My first coil last week was 2.3 Ohm but it was on 32ga K with a 6/5 and cotton wick. It's still working good just came out higher than I wanted. A bit cooler than I want. Hopefully getting some 30ga and 28ga tomorrow in mail.

Thanks, to you both xBodkin and S_x_D.

That coil was 1.4ohms. I think 9 wraps with 29G kanthal. I dont think ill ever go back to 32g I love the 29g.

Wow, thank you. Gives me an idea where the ball park limits are, I'm really new at this. Think I'll try it with the 30ga and 7 to 8 wraps and hope to be about there. We will see.

Thanks again

16 guage is 1.2mm also. Should be good to go once you get the new wire. I prefer 1-1.4ohm wraps. Its my sweet spot.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to shoot for that Ohm range, my first 2.3 is too cool temp-wise, but for a first try at least it works.

Thanks.

Gotta stack some Zzzzzs.
