I bought a Riva eGo Kit a little over 2 years ago, based on all the excellant advice I received at ECF. Unfortunatley, I was not able to pursue vaping shortly thereafter.

It was just a regular starter kit with lots of extras & 3 batterries.

Now I am attempting to re-start vaping. I have all these lovely, barely used equipment, but from my reading here - everything has changed! With 'tanks' and clearomizers(sp?), it seems that it all has gotten much easier, and less complicated.

Can I use a tank or clearo on my old Riva eGo batteries?
What kinds/brands would fit them?
Do I need other new stuff to make the tanks/clearos work?

- - - - - - OR - - - - - -

Do I have to buy a whole new kit?
If so, which one?

I want easy, a glass case (don't want to worry about what juice I use), a small liquid capacity to start with (2ml?), and option to get larger capacity over time. I don't want to modify, dismantle, rebuild, alter, etc.
I am 60 years old with mild COPD - I need to get serious about getting off the cigarettes!
I am capable of cleaning and maintaining (ocassional dismantling, cleaning, re-assembling, etc) the equipment, but I just don't want to dedicate my life to a new 'hobby'!
I would also like something that is not too "high profile" - in other words - something that can be used in public, and not look like something in a Head Shop from my mis-spent youth!

****************************

I have attempted to read through the forums, but my eGo is not a 'T' or a 'C' or whatever! So info is hard to come by, or outdated.
I have read about the tanks and clearos, and can pretty much determine what I would want - I just don't know if they will work with my old eGo. I would want a pyrex one. That's about all I know so far.

I would very much appreciate any guidance that the veterans (who remember the old eGo!) might provide.

If a new kit is my only option, I would really appreciate someone providing 3 choices, and 2 or 3 reputable vendors. My original kit came from either Liberty Flights or Freedom USA. Now there a a TON of vendors, and I am terminally bewildered.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Best Regards to all,
Betrock

The eGo's use a standard 510 thread, and any juice delivery device should work if it has that 510 thread.

I have written some articles that you likely will find useful. The first one is a picture dictionary of the more modern and common juice delivery devices, with descriptions, pictures, and videos on how to use them.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...k-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

I also recommend a pyrex tank. I did a comprehensive review of the above IBTanked pyrex tanks here:

I also have a comprehensive cartotank setup guide here:

Phiniac is another manufacturer of pyrex tanks, and recently came out with the Skinny Phinny's that are the same diameter as an eGo battery, but they will be more expensive than the IBTanks. The Skinny Phinny - Phiniac Glass

Betrock, I have no idea weather what you have will work with anything else, but if you are in So Florida, go look up Vapor Shark. they are on the net and have two locations down in lauderdale area. you can take your stuff in there and find out if anything matches without spending a DIME...oh and they let you try their smoke for FREE...A latte is on the house too...
Don't work for these people in case anyone wondered...was down there working and found them by accident...from research since then, they are priced ok...and use a Vision Vivi Nova tank...they call it something else but that is what it is...Works great for me and now I'm ordering juice from other suppliers..oh it's like Christmas all over again

Hi crstone and welcome back. The Riva is a solid PV and I own the Kgo which is the same just a diff name.
Your choices are:

Pryex tank with a cartomizer. Pic just gives an idea of how the carto tank works:

Vision brand Mini Vivi Nova- they come with a plastic tank so you'd have to buy a metal tank sleeve. With maintenance heads are cheaply ($2.00) and easily (10 secs) replaced. Mine are lasting 10+ weeks. Pic is not with metal tank:

Kanger ProTank- much like the Vivi Nova but is a glass tank- were some leaking issues but the manufacturer admitted to the fault and replaced the items and repaired the defect. I don't own it as I'm waiting for a price drop/ sale. Heads are also replaceable and cost $6.25 for 5 heads.

I really like the Smoktech Ultimate Dual Coil Tanks. I've bought mine from Vaporkings. I am now using the ego 650mah bats with the small tank and thread covers, and the 1.5 ohm dual coil punched cardo. It has become my favorite way to vape. I actually have quite a bit of equipment, but I always end up back with that setup. I am going to post a pic comparing the Large UDCT, Small UDCT, and I'll through my vamo in there for size comparison. In the picture from left to right, ego style 1100mah battery with the Large UDCT, Vamo with 18650 bats, 3xego 650mah bats with Smoktech Small Ultimate Dual Coil Tank with 1.5 ohm cardos. Vaping Pinkspots Pinkspot, and Pinkspots Banana Cream.

It may not be the cheapest way to vape, but I get great consistency, and I usually have 2 or 3 set up at a time to keep the taste buds on their toes, and for daytime longevity. The dual coil cardos are bit on the pricey side, and I've actually heard people argue the single coil work just as well. I'll probably give that a shot.

myfreedomsmokes is having a sale on ego bats right now and I just picked up a couple more, so I have 3 charging at all times, and 3 in use.

Edit: I re-read your post, and I forgot to add, they are not glass tanks, so that might be a deal breaker for you.

Baditude, what is the Functional difference between the Vision Vivi Nova type wicks and the ones with the tube down the middle with the small hole in it? the one I'm using, Novice here, works really well, with 18 mg juice and 900 battery with fixed at 3.7

I'm assuming that you are asking the difference between cartotanks and clearotanks (clearomizers/vivi nova).

Main difference is in the way the device brings e-liquid to the heating coil. A clearomizer or vivi nova type of device uses silica strings to wick juice to the heating coil. That's not much surface area to absorb and carry juice. The strings need to stay wet with juice or you will get burnt hits, so you need to tip the device horizontal frequently to allow them to stay wet as the juice level drops while vaping.

A cartotank has a much larger wick in the form of filler material, looking very much like a cigarette filter. Ten times the surface area compared to a clearo device. This keeps the heating coil in constant contact with juice. In addition, each time you vape additional juice is pulled from the tank through holes in the carto, continuously replenishing the filler material. Since positioning is not important in a cartotank, there is no need to frequently tip your device to continue vaping.

Many vapors will say that a cartotank provides the best flavor, of which I am one of them. However, there is a learning curve in using a cartotank as it requires proper filling techniques (found in my blog) to be successful. It also requires a gentle vaping technique to avoid flooding of the cartomizer.
