Ok so I got a "smoke everywhere" ecig today and went to the mall to get "high tobacco" cartridges. This is not working for me. So here is my background:

45yo smoker of Marlboro lights, 2 1/2 packs a day.

What the ecig is not giving me is the "throat hit" and I don't think i'm getting the nicotine I need.

I've been reading those forums for about 5 hours and i'm overwhelmed. I'm so confused as what I need to get an "equivalent" to what i'm smoking I am hoping that someone who has been smoking like me is reading and can help. I'm so confused about 510, 801, 901, dripping, dipping, mods, flavors, USB PT, suppliers, it's not even funny. I live in the US so I'd need help from other US "vaporists?"

I understand that switching to ecig takes time and that it will never be like an "analog" cig, but I'm sure I can find better than what I tried today.

So what does a US 2 1/2 pack a day Marlboro light smoker has to do to switch to ecig? I hope you can help me, I really need to stop smoking real cigarettes asap.

Thanks for your help :)

I'm sure some of the more experienced people will chime in with lots of info but I'll tell you what I've found. I bought a 901 and it isn't doing it for me (not enough throat hit or heat). Originally I was using 18mg liquid but switched to 24-26 and that's helped. The other thing I did was build a 3.7volt box mod and that's also helped. To be honest, I'm still not happy but it's closer. For me, I think the solution is 5volts. That's supposed to give you more throat hit and "heat".

To me, stock 901 feels like moist air, 3.7v feels like a "watered down" (feeling, not taste/nic) cig. Sometime this week I'll finally finish my 5v mod and we'll see. If it's a noticable difference like the 3.7 vs. stock was I think I'll be happy.

I'll leave the nic level to others to chime in on (I'm 1pk/day Amer. Spirit light smoker and don't know where you'll need to be). I do know that I tend to keep 2 different nic levels ready to go as I tend to need more first thing in the morning and a couple times during the day/evening.

Pack it up and try to return it. Go down the first page to the suppliers section. Find a supplier that carries the 510, or some other starter kit. I've done business with AltSmoke, Vapor Guys and Smoke Safe. They're all good, but if they are on this forum, chances are they are at worst, dependable to receive what you pay for. At best you will get excellent service and delivery in 2 to 4 days. Just about any of them will get you started with the basics for half to 1/3 what you paid to Smoking Everywhere. The favorite starting device around here seems to be the Joye 510. There is a bit of a learning curve on how to inhale off a pv (ecig) as it is a little different than an analog (real cig). There is quite a bit of information you can read up on tonight and still order. Some of these places will have your purchase in the mail tomorrow even though they are in a different time zone. There are only about six actual designs of pvs (cig style) and then the cigar and pipe models. I need to go find the conversion chart, but I would guess you need to start with 24mg/ml cartridges. My husband started with 18mg, but we were smoking generic ultra lights.

Ok I'm sure you now know that the reviews of the "smoking everywhere" are not great. If I were you I would go to http://www.cignot.com/and order 1 510 no box kit it will include 2 batts and 2 attys as well as a wall charger I would also pick up a pcc which will let you recharge batteries on the go. Since you smoke 2.5 packs per day you will need to recharge on the go because the batteries last about 1.5-2 hours. This will cost $60 all together and with them orders over $59 ship free.
Then I would go to StrictlyEjuice.com, Flavor Shop! and order 1 510 car charger 3 5pks of carts and 3 pks of blue foam cart filler. (The reason a lot of people drip is because the polyfill in the carts will burn and that tastes nasty if you use the blue foam instead you won't get the burnt taste) this will cost $10.90 they ship free for orders over $10
Many people on this forum buy Mods there are lots to choose from, but I would start with the 510 then you can figure out what your likes and dislikes are. Maybe at some point you will want to buy one of the many mods. I don't think I will because I am very happy with my current setup.
Finally you need to place a juice order juice flavor is a personal choice but I think that E-Liquid by Halo has the best tobacco and menthol liquids I would order high strength If I were you they offer free shipping and a free sample with every order

This is a summary of all that I have learned here and what I wish I had been told in the beginning HTH

Sufficient nicotine levels vary from person to person - it's often a matter of trial and error. That said, I don't think you'll be able to figure it out until you are using a reliable e-cig that perhaps better suits your needs.

I was a 1.5+ pack a day Newport Light 100's smoker and I'm very comfortable at 24mg. There are others who are good with lower mg - and a few who prefer higher.

Don't give up! It worked for me! I thought I was hopeless, but I was able to quit smoking the day I received my 510 starter kit.

You can do this - and there are plenty of us here to support you. I read tons before I decided on a 510. It didn't take long at all to figure it out and experiment with e-liquids, cartridge filling, etc.

You may be surprised - once you have a PV that actually delivers for you, the "flavors" you thought would work (i.e. strictly tobacco flavors, something close to your ciggie brand...) are the last flavors you choose to vape on all day. There are lots of choices.

Yeah, there is so much information here and so many differing opinions that it really can be overwhelming.

I can tell you that for me, the 510 and 24mg smoke-juice gives me plenty of throat-hit, tons of vapor and soothes any craving I may get for a real ciggie.

I also like the flexibility of the 3 piece unit. Being able to experiment with cartridge fillers, dripping, and the ease of refilling the carts really works for me.

Keep on posting and asking questions, you'll figure this out - and you aren't alone! :)

Curious, what part of San Diego do you live in? Used to live in Serra Mesa myself, up from the stadium. Do you care if your pv looks like a cigarette, or do you just want the feel of inhaling with your nicotine? The batteries on the cigarette look don't last very long so you will be constantly recharging. At 2 1/2 packs a day, you're used to having something in your mouth quite a bit of the day. You might want to buy something like the BB, Protegy, or Chuck. Uses a bigger battery that lasts a good portion of the day without recharging. There are adapters if you want to use the larger 801 cartridge instead of the 510.

I've tried a few e-ciggs/mods, my advice is the KR808D also. Try V4L (Vapor for Life) they have fast shipping (standard is usually 2-3 business days) and great customer service. They have a subforum here with loads of info no matter where you order the KR808D though, that is the model number and they are rebranded...it is now my go-to vaporizer for its simplicity and ease of use...the "cartomizers" (cartridge and atomizer in one) can be refilled many times to make them less expensive in the long run than they look initially. Sorry you started with Smoking Everywhere...very sorry. Don't give up!

OK I'm an old guy who smoked marlboro mediums for the last yr. before that Marlboro reds, camels etc. for about 50yrs. and I studied on this forum for days and was about to get a 901 and one of the members recommended a joye 510. Thats what I purchased it was my 2nd choice anyway. I couldn't wait to get it, told everybody I knew I was getting it. Some people I didn't know I told. It showed up and after all the research I did I didn't know what to do with it. I finally figured it out and I got a passthrough with it when I ordred so while the batteries charged I used the passthrough. I absolutly hated it. I was very upset, here I had to go tell everybody like an idiot so I was stuck. With some help from the members I learned how to use it right and within an hour it was great. Throat hit was almost too much. 2 days later I gave away my remaining cigarettes and haven't wanted one since. Hope this helps. It will work and you owe it to yourself. Best of luck.

mattr12, just don't give up. With the right setup (510 with 24-36mg for me), and the proper technique (long slow drag), you will get a hit that is as good as an analog.

In fact, if you get used to an even better setup based on a big batt mod, a cigarette will be too weak for you. If I compare side-by-side a cig and my vaping setup (510 on a chuck with 36mg liquid) the cig is like hitting air. I get twice the throat hit and cloud from vaping as I do from smoking. I can't feel the nic from a cig anymore either.

I'm one of those that had no intention of quitting smoking, and still don't really. But I only "need" about 1 cig a month now days, and I'm always disappointed with it when I do smoke.

I didnt intend to quit either but I did by accident - plus my 510 tastes so much nicer (not to mention smells great). Give up cut down don't give up; all your choices :)
The SE PV isnt a bad model its just got crap prices (way too much) crap carts and crap customer service, that actual unit isn't bad. Not sure if you refill its carts though.
READ READ READ here - you will get more info than you can handle but try and sort thru it to see what applies to what YOU want and what's out there.
Any questions come back and post more.
Good luck!

I smoked 2+ packs a day, Marl reds in a soft pack for 21 years, along with cigars. No matter which model you choose, there is a learning curve. Its normal to continue smoking while adjusting to your e-cig and dont be stressed over it because that will make you want to smoke more. It will takes several weeks of reading these forums before it finally "sinks" in as there is a lot of information but you have definitively come to the right place to ask for help! Congrats in taking the initiative to cut down on your cigs.

Dont go all crazy buying stuff right away. Get the basics and try them for a week or so. Then read this forum like crazy and start making your list of things you want to purchase based on your needs.

I would recommend the kr808d-1 which most people call a kr8. It has two pieces and is very simple to use. Just screw the cartomizer (the part you inhale through) on the charged battery and you are ready to go. The cartomizers are refillable so dont throw them away. You will want a minimum of 2 batteries but more would be better in the long term.

For a basic kr8 kit:
2 batteries with charger
2 packs of cartomizers with 16 mg nic
10-15 oz of 24 nic juice
10-15 oz of 36 nic juice

This will give you a nice range of nicotine mg to figure out which is best for you and will give you a little over a weeks supply to refill while spending the minimal amount of money.

I wish you the best and please let us know how your progress is going.

friends of mine that smoke come around and i let them try the silverbullet at 6 volts with 18mg juice.they cant even handle it, they always cough a lung up.usin a 510 or 801 atomizer.plus the silver bullet lasts all day long.not like the stock batteries that you always have to charge 2 times a day.i wish i cold do it all ove and just get the silver bullet with some ejuice and attys,i would have saved tonnes of money.
