I must say I am really loving this zmax 3.
I got one of those, too, for $9.99, and I like it. They actually still have them at vaporrange but only in blue, which is what I had to get a few months ago. If you get the Provari, be sure to check the Specials section. That's where the great deals are for the 2.5, and the extension caps are only $6 right now. I have two minis that I didn't bother to buy extension caps. I didn't see much advantage of moving from a 18350 to a 18490 battery. However, I have also bought three full-sized 2.5s and grabbed the extension for those to work with the 18650 batteries. I love the Provari. It just hits my sweet spot for vaping. Have five now and still keep an eye on the blems that come available in the Specials section from time to time. By the way, don't be thrown by the "blem" designation. I've never been able to find a blemish on any of mine.

ETA: Oh, and please pay particular attention to @choochoogranny's post above. The Provari 2.5 requires a button-top battery. They're not more expensive or hard to find, but you do need to be sure that's what you buy for them.

Bring on the flashlights!

While flashlights will be just fine, any adapter that converts it into a mod will be covered under the deeming regulations and have to have approval. Yes, the deeming regulation is that broad.

Unfortunately I have never found a non-ecig use for the 510 thread-size. Trust me, I have looked, I think I saw maybe one once for nitro injection on race cars, and it was something made of titanium and prohibitively expensive.

If the 510 thread size could be demonstrated to have some other use, then a 510 to 1/4"-20 thread adapter could be sold separately under a non-vape label. Fastenal stores sell lots of different thread adapters.

What we need is a line of LED bulbs that are threaded to 510 specs. Something to legitimize the 510 thread-size.
The problem is that the FDA declared itself sole arbiter of what constitutes "reasonable intent". I think most people haven't wrapped their heads around the dangers of that.

There are flashlight heads and USB chargers made with the 510 connection. But, they're not carried by any non-ecig places. If one of the flashlight companies would start carrying a 510 flashlight head, . . . .

And, it's actually a pretty good idea. A flashlight head that can be replaced if broken! What company should we harass to carry this?

Thanks, I'll keep my eyes open for blems then. I much prefer 18650 batteries. I got the blue one zmax too. I think I'll pick up another one.

Exactly. It doesn't matter if companies try to get around the deeming regulations by advertising a 510 connected device as something other than what we all know it will be used for. 510 connections have been primarily used in e-cigarettes and the FDA just needs to wave their magic finger to include them as verbotten.

Issue is the Assembly, the individual parts DO have many other uses.

The Problem is in the Regulation, not the Product.:glare:

You know, it would be a lot simpler to build an Atty that screws into a commonly available flashlight tube ;)

The 510 thread is actually "7mm x .5 thread pitch".
"510" is just Joyetechs nickname that caught on everywhere.

Cant find any other common use for that thread size/pitch, and I have looked for years.

"In December 2008, Joyetech R&D Department, led by chief engineer Shiping Yao, launched a new type of electronic cigarette supporting both automatic and manual models, and named it as 510. The name of the 510 has no relative meaning other than a lucky number."
