Try a Kayfun Mini V3. I just got a clone from fasttech last week. I really suck at rebuilding (bad eyesight) and I got it on the first try. It vapes really nice too! There is a huge thread regarding which clones to get, which was TLDR. I guess I lucked out?

My Heatvape Kayfun v3.1, I spent 6 hours trying to get a coil mounted. I gave up and went back to my RDAs and RTAs. I think that ruined me off of Kayfuns.

Edited to add: You can buy pre-made coils too, very cheap. Makes the process even easier.

That seems to be the consensus. I just didn't want to pay so much. I looked at fast tech and they were out. I'll have to look around. Thank you.

Trying to prepare as best I can. I have never rebuilt or wicked anything. I am an old school iclear16 lover, but since I am probably going to have to catch up with you all. Which RDA, RBA or RTA should I get that is easy to rebuild. I have like 45 iclears stashed but I feel like I should also stash some kind of rebuildable for when they all bite the dust. So any recommendations?

I learned on a dripper exactly like this $5.24 IGO-W Styled Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping doing just single coils. After that I went straight to Taifuns which I LOVE. The Kayfun is a good choice because it is popular. If you like the iclear16's you do not need a lot of airflow so one of older ones is probably good for you.

No I do not want a lot of air flow. The nautis I have are too airy even on the smallest hole. I'll try those also. I am free to spend right now because my hubby does not want me to smoke so he is being super cool.

I top fill my old school Kayfun lites all the time. Never leaks or gurgles. I've been using the same 3 tanks for over 2 years and the only things I've had to replace is a couple o-rings here and there. I'm a total minimalist. 28 gauge, 8 wraps, 1.5+/-ohms, and cotton wick. I did order some mini v3's on the slow boat. They'll be here on Tuesday. I'm going to grab some v3+ that have 3ml capacity. If you are a mouth to lung/low power vaper, it's hard to go wrong with them. I know there are other great tanks out there. I'm just in the groove and don't feel like learning anything new. lol

Winding a coil and mounting it is a hassle the first few times.

The trick for me is to wind the coil so that the wire ends point away from each other. That way, when you hold the coil with leads down between the contact posts (while the coil is still on the mandrel), each screw has a wire running past it. All you have to do is wrap a lead around the screw and tighten it. Leave enough wire on the legs to grab and wrap. Short legs require tweezers. Wire is cheap. Your sanity isn't.

It's a pain if you try to mount the coil with the ends over the screwdown posts instead of between them. You'll eventually be able to wind the coil and mount it on the deck in just a few minutes if you mount it at right angles to the posts. That also makes your wick fall directly down in front of the juice ports instead of laying horizontally.

I pretty much started with the newer stuff and went to the older stuff to see what all of the fuss is all about. And I am shocked how much BS people put up with the older stuff. The new stuff just a couple of minutes and your done. The old stuff it takes me like 90 minutes to do the same.

That one looks nice and roomy. I misread your post and thought you went back to factory coils. My bad.

I'm sure newer stuff is probably easier. But I've been at it awhile. I can rebuild in less than 10 minutes. I don't even think about it anymore. From a flavor standpoint, I've never found a better single coil rta. I might try a few different ones this summer to try and find something better. At the worst I already have rta's that will keep me happy forever.

Yea, I use high powered reading glasses. Lol

One simple trick is to wrap the lead around the screw and then up and around the jig or bit or whatever your using to hold the coil in place. You can use the jig to keep it tight against the screw when trapping it.

I only replace coils every couple months so it's not very time consuming in the big picture.

I use Subtank Minis and build on the RBA. Very easy!
