What I do not understand is how come the bottle was not child proof and the bottle was accessible (I LOCK mine in a combination lock and so does my wife). Still, we should take this in to account - kids might drink it without vomiting and despite the burn (I have been scanning the news and I think its the first incident, usually the kid vomits and recovers in a day or two).

This happened back in May. There was never any followup in the news about the actual cause of death. I think if it had been caused by drinking e-liquid, we would still be hearing about it today - a lot. So I can only conclude that it was a knee-jerk reaction and when the real cause was found the story was dropped as uninteresting.

As response #26 points out, there has not been one word in the news since this report. Did the child actually ingest e-liquid? Or did someone jump to conclusions because it was present in the home? What was the official coroner's finding for cause of death? Not reported.

But for a "deadly" poison, nicotine doesn't cause very many deaths.

The EU's current assumption that 60 milligrams of nicotine is lethal is incorrect, they say, and dates from self-experiments reported in a pharmacology textbook published in 1856. "This is not the case, and people have ingested doses 60 times higher, which only led to nausea and vomiting," says the scientists' letter. An 2011 article in the scientific journal Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology described a review of 27 years of annual reports by American Association of Poison Control Centers. There was only one child fatality during that period from tobacco and pharmaceutical nicotine products, "however the co-ingestion of both cigarettes and diazepam complicates an assessment of a contributory role of tobacco."

Data from AAPCC reports and other sources indicate the frequency of accidental poisoning events is relatively low for tobacco products compared with other products such as drugs, dietary supplements, cleaning products, and personal care products. These findings, along with those for pharmaceutical nicotine products, are consistent with published case reports and reviews, indicating that the frequency and severity of outcomes associated with accidental ingestion of tobacco products by young children appear to be relatively low. However, adults should keep tobacco products out of the reach of children.

Hey it was strange for me as well. See the previous research I posted on the thread. Also, I know in Israel the bottles ARE childproof.
I will go on the Hebrew news version and get to the butom of this.

YNET the major Israeli news paper just reported that the bottle did have a child proof cap.
Also this happened in the ultra orthodox sector , who are tight nit so I couldn't find anything on their papers.
Prosecution might take a long time, hopefully I'll find more info.

It continually amazes me how many know every fancy piece of vaping equipment on the plant - yet, make comments such as, "THIS YEARS Presidential Election should be the defining moment in our country." The lady was SERIOUS! She also pictured 25 different 'atomizers' and 30 batteries". Sort of tells me where some people and their priorities are focused.

She is but one person. I suspect she is NOT alone.

Frankly, I've seen one male celebrity (young guy... don't recall his name) hawking a BP smoking cessation product. He was clearly a paid spokes person. I think at least some of the celebrities who could clearly afford to use better PVs are being paid to use what they are publicly. I've already seen two used on "Shahs of Sunset" by people I've never seen smoke on the show... I don't know the name of the PVs but they're different and identifiable cigar types... so I expect to see them show up in movies the same way smokes and other products like Coke used to show up there and on TV shows when the companies paid to have them shown.

It's going to take some time for mods to become acceptable and even longer to become mainstream. Don't get me wrong, I use my mod EVERYWHERE, but that's because I don't give a damn what people think.
Celebrites on the other hand do not have the same liberty, and the most they dare is a cig alike (and even that got them in hot water).
