I have done single flavor tests on a few of them. These are my notes. I tested them at 7% but don't think 7% is necessary in a recipe. I am looking to use these are ingredients in recipes, not as one shot flavors.
DISCLAIMER: Taste is subjective - these are just my impressions.
· Blue Raspberry
The flavor is the same that is in OSDIY Blue Raspberry Slush, but this one is missing the sweetness and tartness. If you want a Blue Raspberry Slush, you will have to add another strong raspberry, some sweetener, and probably a few other things. It doesn’t have an artificial flavor, so that is a plus. As an addition to candy recipes, this has a place.
· Custard
This is classic vanilla custard. It is just milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla – European style custard. There doesn’t seem to be any citrus as there is in FA’s Custard. This is thick and smooth and creamy. In my opinion, this is one of One Drop Flavors few winners. It can easily be subbed for FA Custard in a mix. It is somewhat weaker, so probably double the amount of FA called for. More vanilla that FA, so take that into account if the recipe calls for FA Custard and other vanillas. It is also sweeter than FA to my taste. There is maybe a buttery note, which could be the extra vanilla. Frankly, to my taste, it is as good or better than FA Custard (not the Premium which is another story.) Everything you can do with FA Custard, you can do with One Drop Flavors Custard. The flavor was a happy surprise to me. (I am not really a custard aficionado - 1 or 2% goes into some recipes to add a little creaminess and body.)
· Orange
This tastes like orange, but it is very weak. It isn’t sweet, tart, pithy or bitter. The entire flavor is right up front, nothing lingers. I am not really sure where this could be used in a mix as there are better choices for what it brings – just an orange hint with no complex flavors, no body, no zest, no real brightness. (I actually poured this one down the drain
)
· Raspberry
This is not identical to TFA Raspberry Sweet, but it is close enough that it can easily be subbed in a recipe that calls for TFA Raspberry Sweet. Very weak but fresh. It should work well at 3% in a recipe where you want a hint of sweet raspberry.
· Watermelon
I didn't get much at all from the Watermelon. It doesn't come close to other Watermelons but I have to admit that Watermelon really isn't my thing in a vape juice. It is watermelon, at least a distinct watermelon flavor, weak but definitely watermelon...also more rind. (This one might be poured out too - haven't decided yet.)
I haven't tested the others yet but am told that the Strawberry is similar to TFA's Strawberry Ripe. I will be testing that along with my other strawberries in the next few days and will report back.
