Thank you for the vote of confidence! I can already tell flavor is going to be a thing. He gave me a juice he made with French vanilla flavoring, and it was so good, until I tried to vape all day. The flavor over and over is a bit much, like eating the same thing 30 times in one day
I ordered a sample flavor pack from MFS, so maybe that will be a good start.
Congrats on starting your journey.
And welcome.

I can't do one flavor all day. I usually carry 2 mods, one with a tobacco-cola, and the other with a nice WhiteTicTac. I mix both myself.

But the point is try 2 different flavors. And with 2 mods, you have the safety if one runs out. I had one stronger than the other. Then I hit the weaker one when I'm just vaping for grins. But I have the stronger one for those moments. Always have a backup.

The best of luck to you. I did it, some 5 years ago.

between here and there
Right now it’s at 26.9W
0.0V
0.5 ohms

And the coil is made with 26g ss wire wrapped 6 times, not five (apparently this was important lol) and organic cotton. And yes you can see the cotton from the little holes on the sides.

It leaks around the slider vent thing on the bottom too, not sure if that’s important. Do you think I overfilled it?
No I don't think overfilled is the problem. Either the cotton needs changing or there is not enough of it to prevent leaking. If you can, go to you tube and search for a how to build a subtank rba. I am not asking you to rebuild one, but you will benefit from watching how re wicking is done. It may be time to redo the cotton and it is so much easier to watch how it is done than to try and explain it here. If you have trouble finding a clip, let me know and I will go look.

WhiteTicTac sounds delicious!!! I’ll be buying equipment and asking questions within the next week or so. Thanks for the advice!

I didn’t even know this was a sub tank, so thank you! I will research and post back with questions.

I’m very sorry to hear that, Axiom. All of us know the risks but it sure does hit hard when it’s your own family. ❤️

yeah thanks :) She died within just 3 short months of being diagnosed :( Small-cell lung cancer is the worst and pathologists know that it is always caused from smoking… Asbestos and other related lung cancers have different cell structures. Pathologists in this day and age can pretty well determine what caused a specific type of lung cancer.

Three months! So very fast. They gave my mom 3-6 months on October 2cd and thankfully she is doing well. No treatments, no issues so far other than she had to stop working. Hospice comes once a week and reminds me that there will be a decline, so I’m just taking it day by day. Time is so precious when there’s less of it to spare. ❤️

I think you have a Kangertech Toptank mini. It's a very good tank for the beginners and experienced vapers alike.

Does your coil look like this?

    KRST-ERBA-3.jpg

If so, this is an RBA (rebuildable) coil. Stainless steel wire? Are you using it in temperature control mode? It's not really a coil for the beginners, though. It needs to be rebuilt at some point, rewicked, etc. How old is that coil? The wick? Do you have any rebuilding supplies? Wire? Cotton? Experience with coil building?

If not, I strongly suggest that you buy a blister pack (or 2) of premade coils for Kanger mini subtank--there are many good ones, you'll have to do some research. I haven't bought premade coils for my Kanger mini in a while, so I don't know what's the best and the latest ATM. But Kanger makes good coils, generally. You need to have a backup--this coil won't last very long without maintenance.

ETA: The person to ask about the latest Kanger drop-in coils is our friend @zoiDman. :)

I used the older, horizontal OCC ~1Ω coils and liked them, I tried the Claptons but they were too much for me. But my favorite coil for Subtank Mini is Aspire BVC 1.6 ohm coil. Yup, they fit and work very nicely (thanks @ENAUD :)).

That said, check those coils on Fasttech (best price)--can't go wrong with 1.2 or 1.5Ω coils for happy mouth-to-lung vaping at 8-15 W (or so). Always start at the lowest end of the recommended wattages and increase your wattage only if necessary.

Hi and welcome. I don't know much about your setup but as you can see ECF is just a collective font of information. I hope you find information that helps you quit, I certainly did! And I am wishing you the best and your mother.

Just keep asking questions as you transition from cigarettes and I am sure you can be successful. :)

It’s a Kanger Box mini, I think it’s older because he switched to a sqonker type and had these as extras. He gave me 2, a white and black one, but he broke the atomizer on one of them.

What you have on top of your Kanger Box Mini is a Kanger TopTank Mini. A Fantastic Tank/RTA.

I use a TopTank Mini a lot when I'm Out-n-About. Or working in the Yard or in the Garage.

The TopTank Mini replaced the Kanger SubTank Mini when Kanger redesigned it so it could be filled from the top. Aside from that, the SubTank and the TopTank are basically the same.

You can use a TopTank in Two Different ways.

One way is to use it with a drop in "Coil Head"...

    4506801-2.jpg

Very Easy to use. Just screw in a Coil Head, prime the Coil Head with a Few Drops of e-Liquid, put the Tank back on and Fill it up, and away you go.

And when the Coil Head wears out, or you want to change Flavors, you just unscrew the Old One, rinse out the Tank if you are Changing flavors, and then screw in a New One.

The Coil Heads come in a range of Coil Wire types and Resistances. So you can Experiment and see what you like best for Your style of vaping. I would suggest trying either the 1.2 Ohm SSOCC or the 1.5 Ohm SSOCC or the 0.5 Ohm SSOCC Coils Heads. They give a Good Balance of Flavor and Vapor.

Kanger SSOCC Replacement Coils | Vape Coils

I would NOT suggest getting the Ni200 Coil Heads. They should Only be used with Temperature Control (TC). And Temperature Control can sometimes be Finicky and Frustrating even for a seasoned Vaper.

    ---

The Other Way you can use a TopTank Mini is with the RBA (Rebuildable Atomizer) section...

    KRST-ERBA-3.jpg

This is where you Make/Insert your own Coil and Wick it with Cotton yourself.

It's a little bit More work. And you will need some Basic Tools to do it. But the Hit is generally Better. And after you get the Initial Supplies needed to make you Own Coils, the Cost is Drastically Less than having to buy Coil Heads constantly. You also are no longer dependent on Retailers having Coil Heads in stock.

    ---

The TopTank is such a Great Tank/RTA because it gives you a Very Good Hit. But what makes it so Cool for someone New is you can Learn how to make you Own Coils with it, but if things go south for any reason, you can Always fall back to using it with a Coil Head.

    ---

One last thing. Fasttech is a Fantastic Place to get All Kinds of e-Cigarette stuff. I have done Hundreds of Orders from them over the Years. And have Saved a Ton of Mony buying things from them. But just be aware that they are Located in China. So Shipping can take 2 ~ 4 Weeks to get to your Door. So if you Need/Want something Quickly, It is Better to pay a little More and get it Stateside.

And if you do decide to get something from Fasttech, ALWAYS spend the Extra 50 Cents of so to Upgrade the Shipping to USPS ePacket. The default "Free Shipping" is Dead Slow.

thank you so much for that. I’m enjoying the days I have left with her because from what I’ve read it’s going to get pretty awful in the end. So together we are trying to be as prepared as possible. ❤️

Is it still a toptank if you fill it from the bottom? Like you have to flip it over to fill it. That might be a stupid question.

My father in law taught my husband how to build the coils, and yes that’s what they look like. The first time he did it we burned up 3 because he didn’t have it seated properly or something, but hopefully he has it down now.

Thank you for the good info!

The tank is called a tanktop but filling from the bottom is ok. When doing a build make sure the coil fits and does not hit the sides or top of the casing after being put back together. If it does it will short the wire out.

Here is a good website here in US that offers 30% off with the code turkey and has free shipping on orders over $14.
Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

Also here are the coils that kanger makes for the rebuildables. They are the same ones that are originally installed when you buy a new tank. After the 30% discount that come out to around $4.55 for 20 of them.

Kanger Subtank RBA DIY OCC Coils 20PCS - $6.50 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

They also have the kanger tanks, etc. If you want, take a look around their website. They offer a lot of the 'older' stuff that we all still use.

    :)
