I got my "510" from a mall kiosk and, its perfect. I was a PAD smoker, sometimes more. My little 510 batteries and my 510 cartomizers have lasted me 6 days now. (and they were from a MALL KIOSK) So, I feel bad for people that spend all this money on expensive tripple coil, low-res, high definition, volcano lava tank, rare brazilian monkey wood, police battalion style, 7.2283voltage stacked battery mods. (WITH the drip tip!) Because, honestly, I'm getting more vapor from my little stainless steel 510 batteries and run of the mill stainless steel cartomizers than the people on youtube with they're $80 mods. I'm not even sure if what I have are genuine batteries or "knock-offs," they just work well. lol. And I think thats all you need. 2 batteries, 3 cartomizers, and a bottle of 10ml juice. Thats ALL you need man, seriously.

I joined this forum and got pumped to buy a variable voltage mod. Then, I realized I was fine with what I've got. Since you don't smoke much, I think you'll be happy with a 510 carto set-up. DON'T be intimidated by all the mods you see, and DON'T get jelous or buy the hype. We're just starting out, and all we need is our 510s/cartos/juice. Done.

To be fair, the reason I am interested in getting a vv mod in the future, is because I know I'm not going to quit vaping. Smoking was a huge part of me. I smoked every 20-30min. You will get FAR with a 510/carto combo. You really don't need high voltage or long lasting batts. Just my humble opinion. lol

LMAO! This is comedy gold.
In all my time lurking here I've seen people get badgered into buying fat batt models or expensive v.v. pipebombs when all they really wanted was something simple like a 510 or an 808 to replace their analog habit without looking like a douche.

I understand that people get enthusiastic about the improved performance(whatever that means to them) they're getting from their upgrade models, and i know that a lot of the time it is the seasoned user trying to turn the new user onto to something great right away and possibly save them money (which is commendable), but also a lot of the time it's just validation seeking or perhaps just an ego thing, pun intended, where people push others into getting what they themselves have, not what the new user actually wants (which is deplorable)

There's another thread going on in the newbie forum where a guy has been vaping for not even 3 days and has already bought 2 different starter kits, both for too much money and is already concerned about how much he has spent.
The guy clearly hasn't done his research as he has bought a 510-T starter kit, hated that there was no taste, and then bought a smoke 51 duo starter kit thinking that he was upgrading.
Notwithstanding that his tastebuds haven't recovered from smoking analogues yet, only a handful of people have suggested spending less than 10 bucks for cartos on the 510-T for a stronger flavour, the rest have all chimed in recommending eGo's and Riva's as the minimum that he should be looking at, and he's buying them!!! Yeah, the eGo and Riva give better flavour than the 510-T but the poor guy clearly wants a small ecig. He's gonna be broke by the end of the week and he still won't know any more than he does currently about vaping.
It's an issue that will never go away, but I'm so glad you brought it up. People giving hardware recommendations need to be considerate of the persons needs.

This is coming from a 808 user that started on 808's 12 months ago and has tried more hardware than most here have even seen, was duped into a provari and an eGo and still went back to the 808's, not because I think that they're the best ecigs out there, but because for many reasons, they're the best for ME.

Thanks for giving me an opportunity to rant. Ahhhh I feel much better now.

Enjoy the 510 with the cartos OP. :)

Seems to me that you have grown to associate the act of smoking with stress relief. Two a day can not be much of an addiction or a hazard to your health, IMHO.

Didn't anyone else have a problem with the above statement/opinion? I sure do.

Look certainly 2 or 3 a day isn't as hazardous or as risky (for emphysema, heart disease, cancers, etc) as say a pack or more a day, for sure. BUT lifetime risk of the above diseases are a cumulative or dose-dependent risk, 2 to 3 cigarettes per day is about 720 to 1000, give or take, per year! The more and longer you smoke, the higher the danger.

I work in oncology clinical research, after attending med school for 3 years. I see nearly every day the risk of smoking ANY amount of cigarettes, especially the cumulative risk after time. All it takes is a predisposition to cancer, family history or a de novo (newly acquired at conception or during a person's lifetime) genetic anomaly/defect then sometimes just one more insult to your genome, say from smoking (which has carcinogens as we all know that can and do specifically cause mutations in genes through what is called benzo-a pyrene adducts in DNA... too much info, I realize  ), to start an out of control cascade of genetic instability and cellular signaling cascades that can and DO often lead to cancer.

So please, don't say that even one cigarette is harmless, much less believe that.

I hope this is a reccomendation, based on his only smoking every 1-2 days, and not a recommendation for new people starting out... I'm also wondering how much you paid for everything at the mall kiosk?

Because I find for many newcomers, there are no actual stores that we can go to to buy quality vaping supplies. If something fails on us, or we don't like what we're using, it takes 3-7 days for us to rectify the problem.

3 cartos and 10ml of juice just seems ultra conservative to me...

I paid $50.00 for two 510 batteries, three regular sized filled cartomizers, one XL filled cartomizer, a PCC, and a USB charger. Then if I would like more cartomizers, they are $19.99 for five prefilled cartos. The new cartos are expensive, but the kits weren't too shabby. (plus there is no shipping charge) Then I got 25ml of different juices from VaporBomb.com. I'm good. Boiling your cartomizers when they die is also a great cost saver. Your definitely right, a new e-cig user should get a good kit, maybe 3 batteries, 2 minimum, 5 to 10 cartomizers, 5 minimum, and a minimum of a 4 to 6 flavor 5ml variety pack with a 30ml bottle of something they know they'll most likely enjoy. (a favorite fruit flavor, etc.) But, the kits don't come with the best of the best, at the cheapest prices, every shop has they're snare traps laid out across the internet and the new-comers will go with whichever trap out of the first 4-5 they come across has the better deal, and so in the end we all have to experiment with what we've got. I just got "lucky" with a "kit" that I enjoy. (Although Idk how long these batteries will last in the long run, or how long the cartos will last, etc) So, we all have our roads to travel. If theres one thing I wish every n00b would do, it is come to the ecf first. Here, everything is laid out for you, everything is searchable, you can literally find what you are looking for by posting a thread, asking for specific needs to be met.

The OP is in a different ballpark because he really never smoked a lot. However, he may find himself vaping a lot more than he ever smoked.

A friend of mine had the same experience as well as I with the Blu, you just need to find a reliable kit....

AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits | The Yeti, Joye eGo, eGo Dual Coil Cartomizer, Silver Bullet, BB, Omega, Alpha

I am a huge fan of these people, they start from the bottom of the ladder and go all the way up to mods. I recommend them because of their online chat, the hours they spent in their store with me to find the right product, in my eyes they can't be beat. I spent 500 or more looking for the right kit, these guys will save you the trouble and not break the bank, as well as take care of any problems you may incur. I haven't found any other company with this kind of customer service. Good luck!

I'm sorry about your bad experiences my friend. I'm a new vapor myself and have also had a few bad kits as well. The two things that have helped me the most besides ECF is research and trial and error. There are a lot, and I mean a lot of different manufactuers as well as kits out there so you really have to research them online before you invest. A lot of people on this forum seem to push people into buying larger kits/mods that end up being over kill simply because they like them. I've honestly had nothing but bad experiences using the tank/tankomizer kits, so for now I'm dripping on an Ego and using a mini 510 with cartos. Dripping seems to provide some of the best flavor, but once again its not cigarette smoking. If you want to replicate the cigarette smoking experience, buy some cartos fro your 510, unless you're returning the kit of course. I would go with a KR 808 or a 510 if you want to keep it simple, cheap and a similar cigarette smoking experience. Just my two cents. Good luck.

As a relatively new vaper, I cant offer much advice besides give the prefilled cartos and an auto battery a try. I have been able to successfully replace the habit, and it was relatively simple

I have years of quitting experience and spent allot of time with NRT like mints and the inhalor. One thing that I learned is that not smoking is expensive. But if you are not willing to quit the nic all together it is a small price to pay considering the eventual health issues that will happen.

after 10 months into vaping..just loving it..started on a "e-health" e-cig to now my adorable eGo variable voltages but for simplicity sake use cartomizers from 1.5 ohms to under 3 ohms..the variable voltages batteries will perform(LR is best for warm, throat hit and cloud of vapor) as the VV has 3 settings 3.2V,3.7V & 4.2V..so for frustrated users of electronic cigarette..this is one simple device i highly recommend to newbies, who cannot follow instructions to properly install carto/tank system,cartridge/atomizer or dont drip correctly for satisfying vape and not knowing if their batteries can use low resistence atomizer or carto ..the VV eGo will take all the guess work for U..just be able to fill/refill cartomizer,correctly..to fill/refill cartomizer follow this step

1) take a new carto, removed the condom not the threaded end but the mouthpiece's end

2)drop by drop(20 drops=1 ml..if yr carto takes 1 ml) of yr e-liquid into yr carto at 30-45 degree angle at different spots around yr carto

3)when filled, take a look at the carto from the mouthpiece after removing the condom at the threaded end against a skylight or lighted bulb..can U see yr centre hole?..if U cannot see because U overfilled ..the e-liquid is blocking the centre hole..poor vapor or hard to vape if blocked

4)if the centre hole is blocked..single sharp blow from yr mouthpiece with a tissue at the threaded end to catch the spray..than take another look at yr carto against the skylight or light source..is yr centre hole cleared and unblocked..if it is blow again until the centre hole is unblocked

if all done and wipe clean of residual of e-liquid from the threaded end, stick a drip tip or the small plastic piece that comes with yr carto

5)attached yr fully charged battery(VV eGo all 5 bars lits up is fully charged..i like this function, very practical when U need to take a fully charged battery with U)

6) enjoying yr vaping experience & happy vaping..regards mafig ps have more than 2 units on the go..i got 4 on different strength mg and flavors in mine..i got my VV eGo starter kit from Healthcabin Promotion Sale-- i like it so much i bought 11 units of 650mAh V.V. Dual Coil (1.5ohm) Promotion Kit
to share with relatives and friends who once smoked..ideal for beginners & even for novice on vaping & usage

Sounds like you've definitely come across some hard times with your ecig. As many others have said, you just need to some trial and error type experimentation and you'll eventually find a kit that's right for you. I had to buy 3 different started kits before I finally found a system that I could use on the regular, with minimal problems for me.

Hang in there, you'll save money in the long run and it's way better for your health!

Well its not a PCC, it doesn't charge itself. Its a cigarette pack styled charger. But it holds 4 cartomizers, an atomizer, 2 cartridges, and a spare charged battery. So, not a PCC but more of a carrying case/wall charger.

Bottom line on "all the advice" given. It's way better to get a lot of advice that the OP can sort through then none. Of course people are going to recommend what worked for them, and that usually does not include look-a-like ecigs, cuz there are far too many out there that do not work. Maybe two brands that do.

ECF is a passionate group of Vapers that want to help others get off the analogs, not just help them find something they think they want.

Like all advice, you have to weigh it against your own personal needs and wants. But, sometimes people don't even know what to ask, let alone what they need.

Hang in there chillyb7 - you'll make this work. : )

I chose to start out with a 2 piece system from greensmoke.com and I love them, never had a problem and have switched many of my friends from smoking to greensmoke. I have since switched again to using the liquid on a 510 but I still do regularly use my greensmoke....great option for a beginner who wants great results everyone they vape....just my 2 cents for what it's worth...good luck!
