It's stressful at first. I had MANY problems. I thought I had a bunk starter kit. Swore up and down I had a bad battery or my attys were bad. It was just me. Smoking is easy...

Light, drag, flick every few seconds, ashtray, DONE!

You gotta give vaping a little bit of time. Hell my first 30 or so post were all me confused not knowing what the heck I was doing. At least you want to learn and aren't giving up. tanks might not be for you at the moment. Try something a little simpler. Dripping for starting off (after I messed up for about 2 weeks with things to complex ATM) was GOLDEN for me. Everyones different though.

So many cool people on here to help you out! Hang in there and keep askin those questions:)

Search the threads, PM people who have been members for a while and you'll get an answer;)

I think getting whole new starter kit seems like the 80 bucks was just a waste. His batteries and charger are still fine, and I'm pretty sure both his attys are still fine for dripping (they haven't popped or anything). I suggest just picking up a 6 pack of boge cartomizers for another 6-8 bucks, and salvaging the unit he's got. The 510-t batteries with a carto on it, actually is pretty great at mimicking the shape and size of an analog (they're shorter then regular 510 batts), and it also seems like a good fit for him since he's not looking for extreme battery life. Having used the 510-t starter kit, I think theres enough of a benefit of the battery size to be what you're looking for.

I don't think it makes sense for someone who probably couldn't even be termed a casual to smoker to deal with the hassle of attys. He can still presumably return the kit and get his money back and spend it on something much better suited to his needs and which requires a lot less effort and maintenance and constant rebuying of parts.

Chillyb7, See if this video clip offers any help to you: Top 10 atomizer tips - part 1 of 2 - YouTube

I agree with the other posters that you'll probably find cartomizers more efficient that atomizers, however, for flavor tasting you'll still need to use attys and it just helps to understand your product and how each piece works and why.

Best wishes and keep at it . . . :vapor:

I've tried to put myself in your shoes and think about what ecig would be great for you considering how you use it and how often and such and I believe that the 510 was a great choice.

It is unfortunate that you have had a bad experience so far, and the other users that have suggested cartomizers have pointed you in the right direction for sure. Go right ahead and buy yourself a whole bunch of cartomizers and you can find guides on how to refill them all over youtube. Stick with it.

first if your in DFW order from DFWvapor.com, they are awsome. so spend just a little more and get 5 pack 510 cartomizers - $10 and if you want to try atties and cartridges you can get a regular 510 atomizer (no T or tank just 510) and a pack of blank 510 cartridges for $8-10. You can use the batteries and chargers you already have.
FYI - DFW has a storefront in Lewisville. It's small but he has all the hardware out on display and a huge selection of juices to sample. If you go, make sure to bring an atty and tip so that you test everything out. The prices are a little higher in the store but he gave me the web discount because I was repeat online customer. James and staff are good people and they seemed to honestly appreciate their customers.

Thank you both for the recommendation. Headed over to the store today, and they were great. They spent alot of time with me, and they agreed that the 510 system was the right choice for me going forward.

They also confirmed that the 2nd atomizer I got with my kit was indeed DOA and so I bought a new one. They were able to help me resurrect the 1st on that was had the burnt taste. They also stated that I really should get at least a few months out of each atomizer, assuming I don't let them go dry. I brought a sample of my liquid and they were unsure why the 1st one had the dry burn taste, as the liquid didn't appear that it was to thick.

1 big point of note was that they pointed out that the "genuine" joytech batteries that I got with my kit are actually knockoffs. Very disappointed by this news since the entire reason I bought local was to make sure I was not getting substandard knockoffs.

Going forward I will deal with these guys exclusively and send any of my local friends their instead. Thanks for all the advice and support.

Just to reiterate for those who are new to this, make sure you do your research. I thought I had done a good job with mine, but it turns out I should have done some more.

I'm really glad they were able to help you out. They're not an ecf supplier so they don't get much press here but they are definitely a top notch company to deal with. Did you try any of their juices ? I've found a couple that I liked but overall had mixed feelings. I can't say that any were bad, just not quite what I was looking for.

Well if he can't return his starter kit, buying cartomizers would convert his 3 piece into a two piece set-up, making it less of a hassle...no more attys or tanks...

Taking the OP's requirements into consideration the 510 with a cartomizer is a great and very simple mini e cig for a casual smoker, as is a KR808D-1 like a bloog or a volt which are already cartomizer models and are also very simple.

I mean, what other decent options are out there that are a better fit? I certainly can't think of anything.

I went the two-piece (KR808D-1 style) route, and I've not experienced any equipment malfunctions. It seems a very simple direct replacement for analogs, and I have no regrets with the platform. A certain company I found has disgusting cartos, but I've since remedied that. I was very lucky to find an entry-level system that "just worked" to make the switch.

Maybe my story will give you some hope?

I also think that two piece carto PV's are the best choice for a new vaper. The Tank system requires some fiddling, and vape "know how", which is very frustrating for a newbie.

Try a KR808D-1, it's a solid PV to start with, and you can get your feet wet while you learn more about vaping and the various PV styles that are available...... please don't give up, you just need a good PV, with minimal hassle.

We all use empty cartos and fill them ourselves. Suggesting a number for the drops is futile because different cartos hold different amounts. You can definitely fill through the battery end, but most people drip the juice into the mouthpiece end with the mouthpiece removed and add a few drops to the battery end to make sure the coil is saturated before vaping.

Order some 510 cartos in 2.5 ohm resistance for your 510 and use this method to fill your cartos and you can be sure they are filled. Leave them in the condom for a few minutes just to make sure.

I love my KR808D-1's from V4L but the OP already has Ego batteries so it makes more sense for him to just ditch the tank and buy some cartomizers. There's nothing wrong with his batteries.

I got my "510" from a mall kiosk and, its perfect. I was a PAD smoker, sometimes more. My little 510 batteries and my 510 cartomizers have lasted me 6 days now. (and they were from a MALL KIOSK) So, I feel bad for people that spend all this money on expensive tripple coil, low-res, high definition, volcano lava tank, rare brazilian monkey wood, police battalion style, 7.2283voltage stacked battery mods. (WITH the drip tip!) Because, honestly, I'm getting more vapor from my little stainless steel 510 batteries and run of the mill stainless steel cartomizers than the people on youtube with they're $80 mods. I'm not even sure if what I have are genuine batteries or "knock-offs," they just work well. lol. And I think thats all you need. 2 batteries, 3 cartomizers, and a bottle of 10ml juice. Thats ALL you need man, seriously.

I joined this forum and got pumped to buy a variable voltage mod. Then, I realized I was fine with what I've got. Since you don't smoke much, I think you'll be happy with a 510 carto set-up. DON'T be intimidated by all the mods you see, and DON'T get jelous or buy the hype. We're just starting out, and all we need is our 510s/cartos/juice. Done.

To be fair, the reason I am interested in getting a vv mod in the future, is because I know I'm not going to quit vaping. Smoking was a huge part of me. I smoked every 20-30min. You will get FAR with a 510/carto combo. You really don't need high voltage or long lasting batts. Just my humble opinion. lol

Glad my recommendation to DFWvapor.com worked out for you. I'm not even from TX im in NJ! The only reason i know about these guys is their Coffin Nail tobacco eliquid which is an awsome very close to burning cig taste vape, and Slurm a salty lemon lime flavor. Also that Buddah does customer support for them almost 24 hours a day on the Outcast Vaping Stickam channel and know that he is a helpful guy.

I hope this is a reccomendation, based on his only smoking every 1-2 days, and not a recommendation for new people starting out... I'm also wondering how much you paid for everything at the mall kiosk?

Because I find for many newcomers, there are no actual stores that we can go to to buy quality vaping supplies. If something fails on us, or we don't like what we're using, it takes 3-7 days for us to rectify the problem.

3 cartos and 10ml of juice just seems ultra conservative to me...
