How does it hold up in terms of resilience in comparison to standard organic? Like how many tanks can you go through in a kayfun before performance starts to degrade and you've gotta re-wick?

That really depends on a few things what type of juice your using cause some juice especially custards really can turn your coil and wick black after 2-3 tanks how hot your building your coils and the diameter of your coil because the smaller the wick the easier it will collapse. Personally I never tried to do any test because wicking material even kgd is really cheap IMO so there really isn't any reason to not rewick but honestly if I'm vaping a high vg juice that has been heavily sweetened then it will gunk your coil up in like 2-3 tanks from there I pull my wicks out and I give my coils a dry burn and rewick it so I would say 2-3 tanks is when I feel it isn't performing great you could probably keep going on that same wick and coil for a while 1-2 weeks easy but like I said above there's no reason not to rewick.

So I just picked up an orchid clone at my local b&m and I love it. First build is dual 26 gauge at .5 ohm. I wicked it with rayon, ran the wick down in the channels a bit no leaking and no dry hits so far. The only complaint I have is the flavor from my Kayfun 3.1 clone seems to be a bit better. Could I have too much wick? Coils are centered over the airflow holes and aren't too close or too high, too of the could is about even with the top of the posts. Bottom is maybe 2mm off the deck. Not sure if I may have too much wick in the channels?

My Kayfun is built to .8 ohm 26 gauge wicked with rayon as well not sure if the lower ohm affects the flavor?

I just put nearly the same build on my Orchid clone and my friend's Fogger v4. Dual 26g at .4 ohms. I was getting better flavor on the Fogger. The Orchid needs some minor modifications in my opinion, and it should be better. Bigger channels for one. The Fogger has deeper channels and maybe is why I think it has better flavor. I'd also like a glass tank option. The Orchid was much easier to put coils on however, and I like the look and overall size more. I've never built a kayfun, but I used one once and I wasn't impressed enough to get one. In my experience, both the Fogger and Orchid blow the Kayfun away.
I hope Aether Tech makes some modifications that I am looking for. If so, I'd probably buy an authentic.

I have used a fogger and I don't like them. I am happy with the orchid. Also the flavor has gotten better I think the rayon needed to saturate a bit more I just built and filled it for the first time half an hour before that post.

Also Aethertech is releasing a v2 of the orchid that is supposed to have adjustable airflow, bigger juice channels and a 2 piece chimney. I will probably buy an authentic eventually once they have had a few revisions but I am happy with this as it is over my kayfun.

Ive been using the orchid for about 2 weeks now and have to say, while i do like it, it seems to fall short.
I have it wrapped at 1.2ohm on a dna30 set at 26.5w.
It produces seriously large amounts of dense vapor; however, the flavor seems muted. Especially compared to my taifun. The taifun is modified for more airflow but it still produces less vapor than i'd like, but the flavor out if it is insanely good.
My other gripe on the orchid is the filling. It may be nit picky but hell, i can full the taifun and ruzgar at a stop light. The kayfun i can fill in heavy traffic, tried it with the orchid and i ended up wearing juice for the rest of the day.
I know it'll take a topfill kfl cap(on order). But, it still seems like a glaring design flaw to me.
Imho, i'll stick with KFLs unless im going high power. And for high power I'll stick with my magma.

Lol I thought it was really clear and therefore went without saying that I was being sarcastic. I'm not really trying to setup a program where vapers provide counsel to recovering drug addicts. (You see, this is just another perfect example backing up my theory that the world is in dire need of a sarcastic font to denote when sarcasm is being employed or at least a punctuation mark to enclose the sarcastic text within. We could call it The Sarc-Mark © lmao
Oh geez.....I misread your post...my brain deleted "addicted to vape gear."lol.. I think that was a post made, somehow awake, sitting on my bathroom floor with the hot water going..lol.

I'm not afraid to show my colors... even if I'm ignorant of showing them...so I guess I couldn't be "afraid to show my true colors," or something like that. Circle-circle-circle:).

An update on my orchid. I started to get dry hits constantly and still muted flavor. I was waiting to finish the one flavor I had before rewicking. I rewicked yesterday with less wick in the channels and it is much better now, no dry hits and amazing flavor. I am living this thing. I did notice however that one of my coils was very sluggish compared to the other when dry burning them but after a few dry burns they were both fine.

Uneven dry burns are usually caused by a slightly loosened post screw, uneven wind or slightly longer leads than its brother. I would suggest snugging the post screws each time you re wick and tweeze/plier your coils a little right after dry burn.

Yeah, can get it vaping fine, but frak me, this is the first Authentic product that made me feel used and dirty:lol: Don't mind top fill, just the crap tank, could of easily be 2 mm taller and with an SS tank section, an would of been sweet if it came with a Allen wrench, heck the Big Dripper came with 2 allen wrenches, and a full set of back up screws, O-rings, and such. And didn't come in a tp cardboard roll, though Fae and Bea enjoyed chewing on that, so not all was a loss:D

Heck, you put out this kind of money, one expects a certain amount of Vaper Courtesy. Had to wait a week to build it just to track down a difficult size hex wrench. Yeah, Bad Form Peter, Bad Form.

At least the clones come with Allen wrenches.

Thanks dice... I'm buying a 510 estia..

yeah, wish I had read my post before buying this, Guess I should of vaped on my TARGIS box mod first so I could do the time warp boggie and avoid it altogether. Oh well, sure something will come along that I can use parts for, and make this a killer rba, but, I shouldn't have to. That's my main issue with this manufacturer. Frak them, and the horse they rode in on too, heck, the horse tail may make good wick though, always look for the silver lining, or something like that.

Where did you get the 510 Estia?? looks sweet.!!

Correct... there are also 23mm ones available now. Check out qorax's estia and Lord threads if you wanna see the different tanks..

Here's my slim kiss, polished HD/hybrid version.

...waiting on a brass and platinum accent ring for it...also a switch screw that I broke the day before I got the estia. I've been able to try it out, but the sampling made me want to get a 510 version for my IPV..

140€(I like to keep it in that currency...it doesn't sound as bad:)), but it works out of the box...single, dual, or tri-coil.. with screws to block off each air outlet. It may be easy to find a glass tube to cut the airholes out of also..the tank and top cap is held on great, without threading..
