Z is fully mechanical, and didn't have a spring in it that also adds resistance. The switch and the spring make it less efficient. Its a noticeable difference. With a 3OHM Boge carto on a Provari its like voltage from 3.3 on the Orion to a full 3.7 on the Z. As we all know that can make all the difference. I have a feeling thats why the Orion is coming out VV. I'm looking forward to it.

Somewhere in the Orion thread on UKV, there is info about pailpoes' pcb. As I recall there is some power regulation going on. And no I don't mean the vw pcb he is working on.

Having an original(mechanical) and a V2, I didn't notice as much difference as you describe. What I did miss was the hot hit off the top of the charge. Did you use any conductive grease on the connections? Really makes a difference. :)

Does any one know if you can use a kick in the orion v 2.1 ? I know every one say you don't need one on geni mod but I'm just curios.
Don't know the orientation needed as I have no desire. If it helps, the battery goes in positive end down. The body is positive w/ the pcb.

With those mods you have to inhale slowly. It's a very airy draw and its easy to inhale faster than the wick can produce vapor. It's like my zen mini open draw. Took me a few hours to dial it in.

If its not your wick n coil, and your airhole is aligned. Then I would het that your drawing on this like a conventional atty or carto.

Trust me....mac just left.my house. Im certified by the master now..lol now just gotta kick it with lorderos33 for my coast to coast certification.

Stew

If I'm ever in Seattle or you're ever in North East Florida, we'll get together for sure. :)

No, i would strongly suggest people NOT use the Kick in their Orion. The Orion switch by Pailpoe is already regulated so the kick would not work properly in the best case. Worst case it could damage the IC chip in the switch.

I could be wrong, but it's just my :2c:

The V2 is regulated? This is news to me (good news), and I would like to know if it is PWM and to what Voltage... I don't consider that a bad thing. One of the problems I have with running on non regulated gens is it will be to hot on a fresh battery, and then it will be OK, or it will be great on a fresh battery, and then it will be to weak.

I like the idea of consistent voltage to my genisis coil. Guess I need to go find this info... Thought I had read everything I could find already.

Chiming in to say that I have finally received my Orion 2.1!! Received it in perfect condition. Its beautiful!!! Boy, I love the finish, size and the feel of the device. Like the switch, totally love the draw! Well I like a whole lot of stuff about the Orion already but this ain't a review post... need to get to know the device a little more before I can really opine I need some help from the Orion veterans here about a couple of things:

1. While putting on the tank, I accidentally scratched the inside of the tank with the top cap threads, quite badly. Fortunately Les provided spares! THe second tank, I was careful but still managed to scratch its insides a bit. Any tips on avoiding this?

2. I received 2 lengths of Kanthal wire but no mesh Must have been a shipping mixup I guess. Currently I am using one of my few remaining Zenesis wicks, but am out of SS mesh. Could someone point out the best place to buy mesh? Is there any perticular brand / quality I need to look out for?

3. This is a common genesis problem (that I faced with the Zenesis too, during my brief usage): It leaks out nearly the entire load from the tank if I lay it down and the airhole happens to be facing down. I even tried covering the mouthpiece with a carto cap / condom thing, hoping that if Airflow is sealed out, how much can it leak, but it still does. In a few mins of keeping the orion on my bed, 3/4ths of the tank got emptied into the mattress Any tips to avoid this?

(I just reposted this here from UKV, hope thats fine)

I believe it is regulated at 3.7v but I am not sure if it's PWM. The Orion site has all that information though. :) I'll have to go check it out.

Thanks for all the info. Mine is a champ now. The wick it came with was no good no matter how much I oxidized it. So I changed the wick and its working good now. I still notice a slight lack of power over the Z but I will follow your advice and see what it does. :toast:

1. Lube o rings & inside tank with juice. Lucky you. The first batch of V2 did not come with spare tank.

2. Les does not send ss, only fb wick. The mesh co out of UK is the most reasonable Plus send free super fine. 400 x 400 for high pg, 325 x 325 for high vg juices. I bought only 400 knowing they would send free super fine. Shipping was really fast to US.

3. Yes, common from my reading. You can make a plug of mesh that can still allow airflow and not create vaccum. I tried it but found wicking was slower, so no go. Just don't layit on its side. ;-)

Congrats!!!!

Thanks for all that info :) Thus mesh company that you mentioned, does it have an online store? If yes, could you share the link?

Also, what's superfine?
