My orion 2.1 just got delivered today. Bought it of of the classifieds. I love this thing! Joining the rank of genesis owners.

suppose to be a tiny O-ring under the plastic ring that is below the main bolt of the ground, I have heard people putting two o-rings in there to deter the liquid from getting down there, is it possible the bolt wasn't properly tightened down? but if the switch is not firing from leaky juice put some isopropyl alcohol in the main tube and shake it around and empty the alcohol out and allow everything to dry and hopefully it should fire again... but it is pretty easy to take everything apart, basically just unscrew the mail bolt and everything will come out from there.
good luck
What 'ross' said. I wonder too if the bolt not being tight is what's causing it, now that you mention it. Might be as some are having this issue while other's are not.
On another forum a guy did add another o-ring on top and said it solved the leaking (attached his photo). Notice his has the extra o-ring and some teflon wrap as was done in the latest batch of v2.1's...
Either that or shoot some silicone underneath the white insulator perhaps.
@Viper, a little earlier in the thread I answered the same question, with links to a video, and how to and an explanation of what is happening. Simply put, the o-ring is not sealing properly, probably because of the threading. I addressed it by adding a second one and a dab of silicon.
Crypto, check the solder on the edge of the PCB that grounds to the body when you insert the switch. Check the 5 solder joints under a magnifying glass and light, look for bad soldering or cracks there. Verify no shorts between positive pole and body also, just to be sure... But chances are, it is not making contact to the body like it needs. Also, do NOT over tighten the retaining nut when putting it back together.
I ordered a new switch from Pailpoe and got a hold of him at Vapor Wall, because mine had completely failed. He sold me a new switch, but it was very reasonable, and honestly think I only paid for shipping???
I noticed the ground "ring" on the new switch PCB was built up with a nice "raised" solder line on the PCB that grounds to the body, opposite from the side with micro switch. I also noticed the same thing on the new 2.1 that my friend received a couple weeks ago, because we took it apart to add another o-ring, stop the button rattle, and that is when we found the epoxy sealer cracked on the switchBut his is working well.
Where is everyone adding the second o-ring to stop/prevent leaking into the switch? I'm not sure if my V2.1 is from the batch with the extra o-ring/heat shrink. Not wanting to take it apart to find out eitherBut am prepared to if I need to add an o-ring to stop leaking issues (assuming I have the issue, which I'm obviously hoping I don't)
I hate to hear that man.... when cleaning doesn't work, there are some solder points that may be able to be fixed. I can't remember where I saw it; on this thread or the old UK site. I'll try to find it after supper sometime.
The guy who makes the switches, 'pailpoe', is out on vacation for a couple weeks or so, as is Les who makes the Orion. I'm afraid that doesn't bode well for your situation. Maybe someone who ordered some extra switches will come to the rescue.
It must be a working vacation for Pailpoe, then. No one's seemed to have had a problem buying switches in the last few weeks and he's still active on the Wall--just answered a couple of questions about his VW switch for the Orion last night. I'd heard something about a vacation as well and he seems to have slowed down a bit in his forum activity, but everyone I've heard of PMing about a replacement switch (or two) has gotten an immediate response and been able to get switches with no delays.
Les, on the other hand, seems to only be responding to contact attempts with "I'm on holiday."
Could be. I emailed him and he got back right away saying to contact him in a few weeks. Could be because I wanted extra and don't have a problem that he told me that. It's worth a shot for those in a bind to PM him I reckon.
I have a new switch heading this way soon from Pailpoe. It seems he already knew of an issue that were affecting some with the last batch of switches he sent out, something having to do with the glue. He has since resolved that possible issue and is sending me one at only the cost for shipping. When I get back from vacation, I should be up and running again.![]()
Glad to hear you're getting one! I wonder what he meant by glue issue? I'll have to get some extras in case, guess he's giving priority to people w/ problems, which is the way it should be. Let us know how things turn out once you get back and have the switch on for a while.
I asked for an extra and he said that he could send one and if I still wanted a spare to contact him toward the end of August. I have no problem with that, none whatsoever.![]()
@Greenbox, welcome to the Orion fold. Orion is still the best of the best IMO. I have compared it to many different genisis and other RBA setups, and it is tops for vapor & flavor IMO. I enjoy a few others, but every time I get something new, I go back to the Orion mostly because of this, PLUS I can run in 18350 for stealth, and switch to 18650 mode whenever I want to. Enjoy it!
Thanks for the warm welcome Jolly!!! I totally agree with you. Flavor and Vapor delivery on the Orion is one of the best out there IMO. And the versatility of this Hybrid is.....AWWWESOME!!! 18350 mode is ridiculously small and stealthy!!! And even in 18650 mode...it is still smaller than most 18650 Hybrids. So glad that I made this my first rebuildable!!!
Another big advantage is reg Siam tanks fit, just need to cut them down
