I don't understand why some of you say not to use a insulator why not make life alot easier on your self and use one. While you are torching the hell out of your wick and torching again ill already be vapping :D

Agreed, And the cigarette paper is by far the best "trick" for beginners and experienced users alike. To each their own :toast:

Ok peeps. Let's play nice. We were all noobs at one time or another. orion is the hardest to set up by many opinion. If some need a trick here or there to either learn to tame the beast, or just to enjoy, where is the harm?

I do agree FOR MYSELF, Jack Frost, no quench (except for top tanks), no juice burns, no isolators of any kind. I hope each get to that point of Orion taming sooner or later. If not, it's OK. :)

Update on the 4 ply cabled .10 kanthal coil. Now it has broken in, the flavor is quite good. Vapor production is great with my 1-2 second draw. Not sure I'll oft be arsed to cable a wire but it's not a bust. If anyone wants to try some, I'd be happy to post for a couple $. I think I got 10 meters and it's from Romania.

.15 twisted kanthal, 6/5 wrap, 1.4 ohm. Flavor & vapor is better straight away. Just 10 minutes in so it will just get better. Downside is the number of wraps. On certain devices, this could be a problem.

I think 'griz' from the other forum was getting 1.7ohms w/ a 4/3 wrap of twisted .15mm. That's a lot more wraps on your end. Maybe the wire posts contribute to the difference, or how it was twisted, or both?

I think Griz runs a fatter wick. I twisted pretty tightly as he did. Obviously the terminal wires use a bit more wire than screw posts. I also do not know if kanthal has a standard ohm for each ga. Time to pay more attention. ;-)

Flavor is off the charts good! Vapor is not as much as straight or twisted .20. Not a biggie for me as I'm not what I call an exhibition vaper. I like being able to stealth. :D

I've got other experiments I want to try with wire. Very well pleased so far. For such small investment in different wire, I'll be kept busy a long while and maybe shiny-itis will go away.

Yeah, I think it comes down to the wire posts for the difference. Thanks for the updates, I may get some .15mm wire and try it, although my single .20mm is doing great. I wouldn't mind to take a shorter draw, and it seems that a twisted coil will give that.
