Hey everybody. I've got this going ok right now, but just ok. The vapor is cool (4 wraps), not getting volumes of vapour, and find getting the coil BETWEEN the washers an incredibly difficult task. My liquid also turns dark fast. I'm hoping you can tell me what gauge kanthal you think is best, should I change the number of wraps, and finally, is there an easier way to get between the damn washers!!!

Lock a washer in some vice grips. Take some needle nose pliers and bend the washer up or down just a hair. When they stack together you will have a ramp to get the wire started. Just a small bend. Nothing crazy.

@K-man, what liquid are you using? I find Boba's and GJ tend to get darker. Also, If you are oxidizing & quenching the wick plus burning juice on it, it tends to wash off with the liquid in the tank initially. I don't burn any for the wick king in the tank anymore because vaping some BB/GJ it tends to darken up, however if I am vaping caramel tobac (BMV) it doesn't... As far as kanthal, I use 32gauge (.20mm) it is thick enough to handle dry burns, and thin enough to work with. The kanthal provided with the Orion is thinner I believe. Some are using 30gauge... There are many tricks to doing the wick & coil, you just have to experiment till you get what works for. It just takes a little patience. All work with varying results. I had a wick and coil that where absolutely perfect... I have yet to get that perfection but a few times, close but not like that one...

Hmm... Got my v2.1 in today! K-man - you're tryin to put yours between the two washers? I just put mine above both, and it seems to work well (this is what Scott did in his video). So far so good - got a 3/4 wrap on a 325 wick and some 100% vg juice and it's a relatively cool vape, but the flavor and vapor is pretty good so far. Love the finish on this version. Maybe one day he'll do a full satin finish similar to a precise. That would make my day.

Dilemma:

I'm on the list for a ZAP (Zenesis Provari atty) and also for Orion, but I got to thinking; the ZAP will also fit seamless on the Mini Provari. The Mini is cheaper than the Orion so I could have two sizes of VV regulated voltage and just swap out the ZAP between the two.

I'm self employed so my income is a roller coaster. I have had an upswing lately but am in the middle of a downswing. Maybe getting the ZAP only and withdrawing from the Orion list is best... as much as I hate to. The thing I love about the Orion is the two sizes and side button, but as stated above, I could get that w/ the two Provari/ZAP combo. Hmm...

Turbo have you tried either first. That might help make the decision.

I just got a zenesis this week and I'm on the fence about it. Trying to give it a fair shot but it's no Orion! I'm a flavor junkie, not into TH as I'm prone to sore throats easy, and don't need ridiculous clouds as at times I have to stealth vape. I really like my Orion's. This zenesis is SUPER airy. Produces ridiculous vapor, more TH than Iike, but the flavor is really meh. I've tried 3 different wicks, different coils, modded the cap to restrict air and the flavor comes no where close to the Orion. That's my experience. My Orion, which are the original w/ ectrodes, hit so much harder. All have been cleaned and deoxit applied.

We are all different. If you can try before you commit, I'd recommend doing so.

Good points. I should be able to try the ZAP before long; I think the notices go out sometime this weekend for those on the list. One difference is I'll be using it on the Provari where you got the whole APV; not sure if that will factor in or not. I also know he makes a stiff draw cap, but it seems you already tried restricting the airflow..

I wish I could try out an Orion. Any Orion uses close to NC?! I guess I'll mull it over before doing anything drastic (like going off the Orion list). That's why I came here first ;)

You can stay on the list. Nothing will happen till you get notified and then have 24 hours to pay before he offers to the next on the list.

Based on my modding, a stiff draw cap is not going to be my answer. There is just so much air capacity, too much IMO, in the cap. If your into billowy vapor & TH, you will probably love it. Me, I want my flavor.

So I got my orion this morning and am absolutely loving it!

I was wondering if anyone knows if the board is regulated?

and does it cut the battery off at a safe level?

aside from my first ego, I have only used the provari and am a bit spoiled with its options,

but its kinda bitter sweet getting the orion cause now after using it all day I realized my provari is now going to be my backup PV! lol but certainly glad It finally got here!

It is regulated, but exactly how I do not remember. It's buried deep in the orion thread on UKV. The designer is Pailpoe. Maybe you could search his posts?

Congrats!!!

Have you tried rotating the cap so the air hole is on the opposite side of the wick? The further it gets from the wick the more flavor I seem to get out of it. Also cuts down on the vapor production.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to vape it. It has taken a toll on my throat. Maybe in a day or two. It's not the vapor but the TH that is the issue. Well and cruddy flavor. Moving off the wick makes TH stronger.

My Orions are taking good care of me in the mean time. :)

Just got my Orion V2.1 and it is rockin' !!!

I got it all setup in about 10 minutes, broke in within 1/2 tankful. Very good vapor and excellent flavor. I think the draw is a little tight so I may open it up just a touch to get more vapor.

The vapor is quite warm and I can hear the juice cooking up loudly at 4 wraps.

Instead of wrapping the wire on the top post between the washers, I put the wire between the top nut and top washer. Slipped right in, but the connection is solid.

The Pailpoe switch works very nicely. It feels like it's regulated at about 4v.

After the break in, it has been extremely consistent as well and never a bad hit.

Lesdid an amazing job n the Orion. A larger tank would have been nice, but the consistency and ease of use make up for it.

Great report 'lord'. Glad to hear about the warm vapor too.

It does work well. TH is a bit high, but not overly harsh. Flavor is up at 10+ vapor is around 7-8 but warm. I think increasing the airflow will cut the TH a bit and increase production, but I'm going to give it a few days before I drill it just to see if the coil needs a little more time to settle in.
