Is it still possible to get an orion 1?I would love to have the original mechanical one (I would be able to use a kick in the v1 right?)
Only through the classifieds. The last of them sold out early this year. Only 200 were made.V1 is a 16340 mod so kick won't work.

tierrataz, thanks for the info! I have been REALLY blasting the wicks before use. I mean I torch and quench it four to six times, then put juice and burn maybe 4-5 times. It's NOT gunky or anything when I pop it into the orion, but it is black. Maybe the juice I am using is not so good. I just ordered sample pack from Alice in Vapeland. Cerver7, while I am brand new to genesis hybrids, I can certainly tell you that the draw is perfect for me on the stock Orion. I do "mouth inhales," where I pull the amount of vapor into my mouth, release the button on device when I've got the desired amount, then pull the vapor into my lungs. I don't know if you vape a different way, but I don't see how any modification aside from the aforementioned wick variations could make this device any "better." Congrats on scoring one of these, I have had mine only a few weeks, but it has taken a lot of patience to learn how to properly set it up. I think that even if you have watched ALL of the Genesis setup videos in the world, it still requires trial and error to get it sorted. I have not yet perfected the wick part of the deal, but I'm working on it. I have experimented with several different setups just for fun, and I did one earlier that was worth mentioning. I had a wick installed with a 3-4 wrap, then I loosened the bottom screw, snugged a new piece of the same gauge wire under it, tightened the screw, wrapped a SECOND set of coils (3-4 wrap again) going up the same wick, then attached the top of the wire to the spring post/washer/nut. It vaped really well, but it had just a bit too much throat hit for me.

I really would like to get a wick/coil setup that produces a solid amount of vapor, good flavor, but really low throat hit. I could care less about TH, I'd rather not have any throat hit if it were possible. I just rolled a really skinny wick, oxidized it, and dropped it right into the top opening of my current wick. I don't know if it is wicking "better," but I heard someone mention this and I am trying it. That is one of the fun (sometimes...) things about the Orion; that you have so many options to experiment with wicks and coils. I tried using some silica wick but it seemed as though it could not wick juice up to the coils fast enough to chain vape or take long pulls without quickly scorching the wick.

Ratio is 70% vg 30% pg and I have to say that FINALLY I've executed a wonderfully stout wick and am getting a GREAT vape. Flavor is not yet very rich but I know that will take a few days. I twisted two pieces of the thinner gauge kanthan together and left the loop at one end. I then hooked the loop around the bottom screw for the connection, not thinking it would work well, but wow! I did a 4-5 wrap and spaced all of my coils really nicely. This thing really cranks! No stinging burning in my throat, which I think was the hot spots I've been getting.
