Hey Guys,

I just got my orion V2.1 and have popped 4 coils already. Any tips to avoid this, as I am ready to vape the hell out of it. lol... I am wrapping just like any other Genesis atty 3/4 wrap and it pops as soon as I hit the button on the top at the possitive screw. I have no problems with any of my ZEN's, ihybrid, Did ect.

Thanks,

Chris

Using a weak battery usually does the trick until things bed in and what not.

Oxidation is also key for the wick and where it goes down into the wick hole. Also, make sure there are no machining burrs at the base of the wick hole that may be digging into your wick. I had one like this and had to de-burr it. Keeping the wick straight in the wick hole can help also.

And then there is cheating (but if you are not cheating, you aren't trying)... Take a little cotton to the wick where it just goes through the hole to act as an insulator. Not much at all. Can use a 100% cotton ball, and just where it goes into the wick hole use the wick to grab & wrap a little cotton around it. It works to help isolate the wick from the body, but isn't necessary for a properly oxidized wick. I have done this if doing a new wick and in a hurry for whatever reason. I don't care for it under the coil though, as it tends to over wet the coil, and you also have to worry about burning it if it gets dry.

What a day I had w/ my beloved Orion....

I had been getting shorts out of the blue on my 2+month old coil, so I figured it'd be a good time to change it and sand one of my extra tanks down to get rid of the o-ring I've been using to align the wick hole. What a time! I even lubed the orings when I first put them on but had one HELL of a time getting the tank off.

In the process I chewed one of the tank orings pretty good. The extras I have are too big so...

I'll be needing some like 'crypto' above. Anyone have any to spare? I don't think they can be purchased in the USA being metric... In the meantime, my Orion is out of duty :(

I threw caution to the wind and put the chewed up o-ring back on... It's still in tact but I still need replacements to be safe. I'll keep a close eye on it for leaks. I also sanded down the tank so the air hole lines up. It's nice not needing other o-ring for that. I should've done that from the get go but the other o-ring was working.

What a day for me and my poor Orion. It's good to have her back for the moment! I'm lost w/o it.

You can get extra glass tanks on UKV by a member named Terry

Here's the link: http://ukvapers.org/Thread-Glass-ta...katana-list?highlight=orion+replacement+tanks

Anychance a US supplier has the tanks (or something I can jimmy rig to work)? I need to limit my forums I visit or I won't have a life.

Super convoluted way of saying I don't have a UKV account.

Hmm, wonder if I can find a member with an account to help me out.

Edit: Just ordered from 310 vapers! Orion within 2 weeks!

Turbo, I can send you some of the proper o-rings. They can be purchased at certain hardware stores, but they are usually separate from the regular o-rings, located in a separate "metric" labelled box. Let me know if you need a couple still. It was me who mentioned the kir fanis tanks, but I would have to send my Orion to Greece for him to make them, so until I have a backup device, I will not be doing that.

Thanks man, I may have some coming from overseas but until I get them (2) would be nice in case. So far everything is holding up well.

What size did you find and what hardware store? Lowes didn't seem to have them. I'm guessing Ace may.

Thanks Turbo.
@emonty, or Turbo: How about the VV on the Orion's? I'm far down the list & want to know around when he will have them? Wishing it would be around my batch.

Well the list is not valid, or at least Pailpoe never asked that it be started. He said sometime in the fall but I'm sure he's swamped w/ the Orion switches now.
