I also posted this on reddit.

As 99.9% of you know, NRT, or Nicotine Replacement Therapy doesn't work in a majority of cases. When I smoked I often used the cliche " Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it 1000 times." About 900 of those attempts were with the aid of nicotine patches or gum, or both. Studies have shown that with traditional NRT, between 6 to 15% of people that attempt to quit actually succeed and maintain their new non-smoker status for 1 year. I believe the number is 6%, because everyone I know, including myself, failed using gum and patches every time it was tried. Patches and gum are an abysmal failure, except for the companies that produce and sell them. Just think if aspirin or your prescription medications were successful 6% of the time. The products would never come to market, let alone be used by millions of well intentioned people every year.

Enter vaping. I tried the convenience store ecigs a few times, blech! No help there. Then I stumbled on this sub-reddit on Jan 13. I bought an MVP that same afternoon at my local vape shop and haven't smoked since. Smoking replacement therapy! BAM! DONE!! No more smoking after 35 years, sometimes 2+ packs a day.
NRT is a money making scheme, SRT WORKS! I had 2 1/2 packs of Winston Light 100's on Jan 13, kept them around as a mental crutch till Feb 1 then thoroughly enjoyed trashing them. And it's not just me. I've helped 3 friends quit as well. The best way to help your friends quit is to take them to the local vape shop. Don't make a fuss or even let them know where you're going. Let them try a few juices they might like and they will quit too! SRT IS AWESOME!
So after all this, my question is this: Did NRT work for you? Did SRT work for you?

Personally I tried it all. Although I never smoked cigs as long as some people here. None of that NRT works and I never used it long because I was in love with tobacco I had it all pipes, cigs, even had a bunch of cigars. What finally got it for me was my ego t set up with this juice that tasted just like my beloved turkish royals. I cant say I miss the inhaler and advair and bronchitis I was constantly plagued with when I was smoking a pack and a half a day.

Never tried NRT. Saw it failing right and left. Just like you, picked up a MVP and quit the same day. Although at the time I didn't know I had quit! Still got 2 full cartons in the pantry. Gonna burn them at one year anniversary and dance around the fire pit! Picture it......Crazy old lady smoked for 53 yrs 2+ PAD arrested for polluting neighborhood and breaking the noise ordinance! :p

I myself was a smoker for almost 30 years. Tried blus, both the disposables and bought a starter pack. Got tired of the short battery life and bum cartos although I still like to keep a disposable around for backup and because it's really the only tobacco flavor I like. I oficially quit but I have smoked 8 cigarettes total since December 3rd. on January 21st I finally broke down and bought a Vision Spinner kit from my local B&M. I have smoked 1 cigarette since then and haven't looked back. Once I got a "real" device it has been so easy. Almost effortless to quit. So yes. I beleive SRT would be a much more fitting term.

I was a pack and a half a day smoker for 25 years, in my case I would consider it "CRT" (Cigarette Replacement Therapy). I do love all things tobacco. I dip on occasion, and I enjoy my snus. I'm still and avid pipe and cigar collector and smoker! I just had to quit the coffin nails! I was getting Bronchitis and Upper Respiratory Infections like clockwork twice a year. Since I quit back in September I've skipped my usual February bout of Bronchitis!

I've been analog free for 44 days after 1.5 PAD for 43 years! It was so easy I still feel like I'm cheating. Still feel like I had nothing to do with the accomplishment. Don't get me wrong…it is a HUGE life changing accomplishment but was just such a simple transition. I feel like I've cheated my addiction out of it's grasp on my life. Ha ha…I won!

I was a PAD+ smoker for 50 years. Tried patches, gum, logenses?,with and without welbutrin, hypnotism, groups(religous and secular)'cold-turkey and weening.Nothing worked.Tried e-cigs when stuck for three days in a non- smoking hotel room and it just worked.I liked it. Liked not having to interupt what ever I was doing to go outside for a smoke.I wasn't trying to quit it just happened. Now I like trying to find the ultimate vape and then trying to find the cheapest way to do it.

When you do let me know (I live in Chattanooga also), I will bring my half carton with me to add to the fire, and then you'll have a jail buddy!

I actually quit once using the patch. it was my first serious attempt. I did the step down etc. I totally quit and didn't miss it. It was hell though even using the patch. A year or so later I smoked a cigarette out of a panic/stressed situation, just cause.... and well here I am.

I tried many times again to quit, because it worked once for me, but I wasn't dedicated as much as I was the very first time, so failed over and over again. Found ecigs a few months ago, and it has taken a bit of mixed use, but I haven't had a cigarette in weeks now, and don't think I will have a moment where a real cig sounds appealing anymore. i get a little nic buzz from just inhaling 5 or so hits into just my mouth, and it tastes like zebra stripe gum.
