errr.... i over-charged my aw imr 14500 battery maybe 2 hrs? is it safe to use still? i dont have a multimeter..think ill be buying one tomorrow at home depot or something
thanks everyone
batteries are one thing i havent studied much of..and if i understand correctly, these are unprotected but have safe chemistry?
Correct.
so in general were not supposed to overcharge these....what are the dangers if i do? like left them in there over night or something? it just wouldnt fire my.mod and thats it?
Overcharging above 4.25V may shorten life/cycles. Above 4.50V may even pop them or making them leak.
and if i had a multimeter..and i checked the volts ...what would i even be looking at exactly?
My AW IMR 14500's are usually around 4.15 to 4.19 volts coming off my Pila charger. I've actually discharged them below 3.5 volts a few times (not on purpose), so I might have damaged their optimum capacity.

Doesnt that mean its done charging?Probably left it on the charger after the light turned green. It's fine dude. In fact, you may enjoy a few hits at 4.22 - then you'll want a Grand with 5v batts![]()

I dont get this...how do you over charge the battery when the charger shuts off when its reached full charge?
Because sometimes the charger doesn't work correctly.
When you take it out of the charger, set your MM to 20v (DC) and touch the RED lead to the positive (nipple.....what would i even be looking at exactly?
Understandably, but the OP said he over charged by 2 hours. How would one know if he over charged if no volt meter was on hand?

Once the light turns green on most chargers, there is still a trickle charge being applied.Understandably, but the OP said he over charged by 2 hours. How would one know if he over charged if no volt meter was on hand?
Exactly this^As far as I know, a meter is the only way to tell.
