I also was overwhelmed when I started too (and also almost bought a GS kit). This site is very helpful but there is a lot of info. I have been at this a month and have also found smokeless image to be great, kicked analogs in a couple of days.
Anyway, to address your question about the two different kits. I think it depends on what you anticipate where you will use the product. I bought the kit with the charging case. It works great but now I hardly ever use it. I am a stay-at-home dad so I always have access to an outlet to charge my batteries (I bought a usb at the same time). You could use the $20 savings to buy another battery (my recommendation) or more cartos to test out flavors.
However if you plan on being out and about a lot, then go with the more expensive kit. Although I would also recommend buying a usb charger as well, if you buy it at the same time it is a couple of bucks cheaper. That way you can charge them at home too.
Lastly, if you are looking to quit smoking and are a bit overwhelmed, don't go with the larger systems yet. As I said, I am only a month in but have found the little batteries and cartos to be great. You can always upgrade later. Also, also don't be scared of refilling the cartos, it's actually quite easy and it'll save you money.
No matter who you go with, good luck. You will find it to be a wonderful experience.
ya i almost feel like i need a carton of real cigs in the meantime until i can get this all sorted out. im constantly buying, charging, frustated. then theres the waiting for the package to arrive. i'll probably blow $100 at a smoke shop trying out all their garbage just to avoid $20 worth of regular cigs
Well, you're trying to avoid more than $20 in regular cigs.
It is quite daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it well worth it. The start up costs are a bit high. But I think I am at the leveling off point in a month or so (I've bought a bunch recently). While I am conscious of "breaking even," the health aspects cannot be measured.

yes i ordered the standard starter kit ($44.95) and 10 add't cartomizers ($17.90) minus $10.06 coupon code and free shipping. so all in all its about $52.79 for two sticks, 15 cartridges plus the usb charger and wall adapter.

i went with the volt. i'm sure down the line i'll step it up and get all these crazy gadgets. im just hoping this works for now at least. i smoked reg cigs from 12 to 23, then i quit for 7 years, then started up again 18 months ago.
I would def say stay away from the smaller ecig, and it is def a learning curve with all the info out there.
i went with the xtra strong for all 15 carts. anyone know if they're actually strong. everything ive tried thus far has been the strong ones but not the xtra strong ones and i didnt find them strong at all.
I don't think you'll be disappointed. That is basically what I got except I also got the charger case.

Once you get your Volt product, take photo that shows your face and the volt name on the product or box and put in the FAces of Volt in the Smokless Image section of the forum and they will send you a free battery. Mine is on its way now.
Honestly, I am completely happy. Easy to use and interchangeable parts and so far I like the juices. Let us know how you are progressing and good luck from one newbie to another.
When I first started I got the 18mg ones (si calls it high I think). Had to get the stronger ones (24mg) soon after, 18 just wasn't enough. Remember tho, you will vape more than you smoked because it doesn't absorb the same way.
not sure when the arrival date is. i got the free shipping so it probably wont be super quick. im gonna have to drop another 20 at the smoke shop to feed this POS green smart living one that i currently have. that or just smoke camel crushes in the meantime.
so i paid the same amt as i wouldve to get the same kit from greensmoke but this way i got an extra 10 cartridges and presumably a much better product (volt vs greensmoke) so thanks for everyone's help. im sure down the line i'll go for the bigger more complicated ones but this should be a good intro for me. thanks again.
ya for the time being i'm gonna go with as strong as i can possibly get because i'm never quite satisfied. once i get a good setup and am completely off reg cigs then i'll consider dropping down, but even then very very slowly. to me, most of the point of ecigs is to get the nicotine in a manner thats similar to smoking so might as well go strong, right?
Look at this as a starting point. The Volts were enough to get me to drop down to 3-5 cigs a day, then 1-2 a day, 1-2 a week, and finally none. Picking up an e-cig and never smoking again happens for some people.... but for the majority of us, it's a process.
There are devices with longer lasting batteries out there.... but I still regularly hand out my Volt 78mms to smokers for them to trial for a few days and get started. If they want to move up from there, you can get an X2 for $20 that fits all the cartos you'll have with the minis.
I own a Zenesis Mini (hybrid all on one unit with replaceable battery and rebuildable atomizer).... but when I leave the house, I'm carrying my X2s with clearomizers, and sometimes even the 78mms when I want to be less conspicuous. They get the job done.
