I like your break down of it really, and whole heartedly agree with you on your points.
Trust me when I say that I've encountered way more of what you speak of lately then I'd like to deal with, usually I just grit my teeth and wander on shaking my head the whole time. Keep up the good fight and help those you can, I appreciate you doing this as it would seem that to a lot help is provisional meaning " If you don't believe in xyz way or own xyz device then your not worth helping" which would negate the reason for having choices of devices and attys in the first place.

I know about the other forums, and I do see that the vaping community as a whole is not attempting to become that however in the void of a leader someone will step up to fill that gap as they have done so already. We can hope that whoever does is fair and just however it seemingly has not gone that way. Ideals for what is right and wrong are thrown around frequently, one comes to mind is ProVari but that's a topic on to itself.

I am frequently reminded by a statement said to me long ago "Think before you speak, look before you leap" which seemingly does not apply to a select few who hold their ideals in high regard.

What set me off is bantering, is visiting a local B&M shop and being questioned for running "Inferior equipment" because it wasn't Original. Taking ideas that were around ages ago and slapping an ownership title to them without rights to do so. Its visiting a few other forums and seeing them bash ECF and anyone else they freely choose to without any thought of damage to the community structure. Its like this, actions are droplets in a pond, though may not directly affect anyone the ripples will eventually reach the shore, something so few realize I think.

I took your post to mean you had a problem with the "other" site that is acting as if they are in competition with this one. We all should be working together but in the real world today I doubt that will ever happen in any setting. The gloating was the thing that bothered me when I saw it elsewhere, but the numbers of participants in each site speaks volumes.

And as to Internet celebrities, will someone PLEASE explain Pewdiepie to me?

I can't. My kids think he's funny and I've come to the conclusion that they'd have about as much success explaining Pewdiepie to us as we would trying to explain to our parents why Wu Tang clan is still awesome and Bobby Brown is not and has never been. If you want to be internet famous have an easy to remember and repeat name, do something other people can do better than you but in a way that appeals to short attention spans, and then do it persistently and publicly.

All the awards and Special mentions do is separate a community in to a cast system, who is higher on the rung and who is lower.

By my username, I guess you can probably tell I am a horse racing fan.

Do you know, you can go anywhere in the world, at virtually any time in history (even in middle east admidst a war zone) and people who have horses.....whether they be quarterhorses, thoroughbreds, warmbloods, etc. .......will get together in a group and RACE THEM?

That is just normal human behavior. "Let's see who can go faster", "my horsie can beat your horsie." I mean, this is what sports is all about.

It's not a caste system. It's just how human beings tend to congregate around "shared interests"; they like to be in the game. Its something to do. :)

A bunch of people own turtles .....they get together.......what do they do? Invariably, they will race them. Turtle racing is really fun. :) Ditto, pigs, camels, hamsters, etc.

Not directed at you, Wendy.

I don't think it's funny at all....it seems very violent. What is funny about blowing up animals?

Thank goodness some kids are building stuff for their science fairs, or learning a language.....not sure what skills are involved in blowing up pastures of live piglets (even if virtual) but I personally place them in the "loser" category, because I don't see how this can be *funny*?

If I saw my kids engaging in a lot of this, I would take them to a psychiatrist pretty quickly.

BlkWolf,

I also was very confused by your post, although re-reading it and many of the comments I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm still not sure.

I think you are talking about the vaping community as a whole, including you-tube, vape shop personnel, and some other vaping site, rather than ECF specifically? Do you see this kind of stuff happening here on ECF (well, of course it does occasionally, but I haven't seen it to any alarming degree, and I only do it myself a little bit ;-) )?

ECF is basically my only vaping community, although I'll watch a youtube video when someone recommends it (and occasionally a couple more that pop up after the first one). The only B+M near me is total crap (actually another one opened up even closer that I've heard good things about, and will have to check it out). This is why I was totally scratching my head at your OP.

I know you're trying to be nice and not point fingers specifically, but it's left some of the rest of us confused, so if you could clear this up I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

ETA: By the way, I think your avatar STILL looks like pbusardo, except a whole lot skinnier! ;-)

Racehorse,
Competition only breeds competition, vaping shouldn't be a race to the finish line where we are pushing this and that. Cloud chasing is a competition and how many mods will it take to detonate before its determined that its a bad idea to push that hard, that fast. I got in to vaping to get off Cig's first and foremost, then discovered a wonderful community of people all looking for a spot in the world to call their own. This has gotten lost it would seem now a days, when everyone has a thoroughbred horse why compete if all are equally matched. We need to focus on community and looking in to the issues of what's going on.
I was reminded of a statement " United we stand, divided we fall" by a friend, where will the vaping community be in say 5 years. I hope for still standing.

I do like equines as well myself, I've been around a few in my life and never owned one. Last one bit me because I came around too fast, this was my fault so no harm done (Still hurt like hades though).

twgbonehead,

There is a reason I'm not pointing fingers, I really can't point fingers because one of the individuals that I'm referencing was rather banned from ECF and the use of the screen name was also banned as well (about the best I can do, you can piece together the rest). Yah I blew a gasket as the awards and youtube channels, shows on networks and such all take jabs at this and that when they should be promoting community (yah that doesn't happen). I am sorry that I can't provide more but you've just about it right with your understanding of it all.

MrStik,

This would depend on a lot of factors, though I do admit it would be interesting to see if you could pop a popcorn kernel in your mod. Thermal expansion wouldn't be your friend though so safety glasses are a must when the cap pop's off the atty.
I suspect the first thing is to figure out at what temp. is required for the kernel to reach temperature when expansion happens, I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to maintain that if you dropped a vw/vv mod down in wattage and wrapped a high gauge wire or even a twisted 32/36 maybe 9 or 10 times duel coil. have to also have a way to suspend the kernel above the coil so it wouldn't touch them...
You pose an interesting science project, will have to think on it more. but how cool would it be to have a mini popcorn attachment for your mod. Just saying.

Robino1,
Thank you for your kind words, I try to treat everyone like family no matter near or far. Were all in this together for one common goal, stay off the cigs. How you choose to do that should not matter any more then what color car you chose to drive in truth. I'm proud to be cig free and proud to have wonderful friends in the vaping community.

From my own experience this group amazes me with their willingness to go the extra mile to help all vapers, new and experienced, in any way they can. Keep in mind that even the groups that may appear elitist are in no way trying to be so, they simply often speak a different lingo that pertains to their gear and you need to learn their language before you will feel like you fit in. I have yet to come across a group that doesn't welcome all with open arms enthusiastically.

Hang in there and see the good in the board while and let the comments that annoy you slip to the side.

Gotta second this. This has been my experience around here also. I know just from daily living that there seems to be those few, on open forums, on the job, at restaurants, at parties, and ANYWHERE you may go, that don't play well with others. You will bump into these types everywhere, without warning.

I was going to vape some popcorn in this thread but I am having some problems.

I cannot seem to get the popcorn to stay in my juice well and close the top cap over it. Does it need to be an unpopped kernel, and if so, what coil works best to pop that kernel?

If you're using a standard metric popcorn kernel, I find that a 7/8 wrap of 24ga Kanthal works well. Wrap it starting from the large end of the kernel, and fire it at 35 watts.

The bits of embedded wire (I call it "Spring Surprise") give an interesting characteristic to the texture of the popcorn; you will find it a memorable dining experience from beginning to end! (Particularly the end, if you get my drift....)
