Its been a while! The last few months I have not vaped using any other atty but my trusty Penelopes and Oddys. A few thousand dollars worth of vaping equipment have been collecting dust while I just never seem to run out of praise for Imeo's awesome design. Even my Reos and UFSes seem to do nothing but wait for the Achilles. I use Kanthal and vape fairly clear juices most of the time so my coils last me anywhere between 20 days to a month! So my recurring hardware costs have nearly dropped to zero. So thanks again Imeo for making my vaping life awesome!
There was just one bad incident that happened with one of my Penelopes. On the second week of use, I dropped the Penelope connected to my Provari mini on concrete accidentally while getting off my car. It must have fallen from a height of about 3 feet. After the expressions of horror, disbelief and shock passed, I realized that the Penelope had bent a good 5+ degrees towards a side at the 510 connector! I unscrewed the atty from the mod to examine it, and even though it was not a well lit place I figured the 510 connector thread area had bent at the part where it meets the base. I tried to screw it back into the mod and attempted to straighten it by applying very controlled pressure in the opposite direction, it straightened out a bit but was still visibly inclined. Since it was still vaping perfectly, and it was the only mod I was carrying that evening, I continued to use it as it was and decided to look at it closely the next morning. But within a couple of hours of use in the evening, the Penelope simply snapped out and fell off, leaving the 510 threads in the mod
. This was indeed a sad day. Fortunately I had ordered 3 Penelopes and had saved one up to stay brand new for the Proteus. And since the Proteus would require a different base anyways, I used up the base from my 3rd Penelope. Since then I have been using both my Penelopes on my Provari almost exclusively and have never dropped them ever again. But even with careful use, one of my 2 Penelopes is showing a slight incline, and when I screw it fully into the Provari without the center pin attached, only one side of the base gets flushed to the provari while a slight gap remains on the other side. To sum it up, I hate the 510 connection and dont think it deserves to be the thing holding the 2 main parts of a vape together. Especially for mods as heavy as the Provari and the Penelope. So Imeo, when can we get our Proteuses???
