After a long journey from Greece to the USA to India, they are finally here! I have my Penelopes! I got 2 for me and one for a friend, and am happy to say that they have all reached safely along with my Odysseus and a rebuildable part to complete my Drip mode Ody for my 'Reody' project! Wow! I have never gotten so many toys at once! Its been a day since they arrived and while I am not experienced enough yet to do a review, I'd like to post about my first impressions.
So I had to choose which atty to start with first, and I chose the Penelope over the Ody as I have been much more excited about its development. Also, since I purchased a Provari for the penelope to sweeten the wait for the Proteus, I prefer the look of the penelope on the Provari Mini than that of the Ody. So the Penelope is my first attempt at a non genesis style rebuildable atty. I have been using an Orion and a Zenesis but have not been too happy with the pains of wick / coil making and the leakage issues. So have been keeping my fingers crossed and patiently waiting for Imeo's creation. All this waiting and my existing experience of the wonderful UFS raised my expectations from the Penelope unlike any other mod. As of now, I am happy to say that the Penelope has even exceeded my expectations! It is as awesome as it is beautiful!
I made the first wick out of the pre-made wire. Since I have seen Imeos, Scotts and Pbusardos Ody videos an infinite number of times, I knew how to go about making the coil pretty well. So Apart from having a difficulty in unscrewing the atty out of the base the first time, I had absolutely no issues in making my wick. After a long bath in my ultra sonic cleaner, my friend and I both made our first coil and put it onto our new Provari's that were waiting to be used. My coil turned out to be 1.7 ohms. Thats really cool cuz I am an Avidvaper 1.8 ohm cisco spec atty user (for my UFS and Reos) and 1.8 at 4.x seems to be my sweetspot. I filled it up with my favorite Vaporstation Tennessee 50%VG/PG and instantly, I was in vapor heaven!!! This little thing can produce consistant, delicious clouds! Here are some Pros and cons of the Penelope in my opinion:
Pros:
* It doesn't leak. AT ALL!
* Its extremely easy to build and maintain
* Vapor production is out of this world
* Its beautiful! - Probably the best looking atty in the world
* Its easy to refill - No needles required
* Great design - IMO its the most well thought out and well designed atty / tank system I have ever seen.
*
juice flow control is awesome - Its more forgiving than the UFS juice control. And compared to other system out there, Juice control is what sets the penelope at a level that is beyond any mod / APV without juice flow control.
* Did I mention it doesn't leak ?
Cons (Really? well yeah I have some):
* Its a 510 connection - It just needs a mod with a native integrated base. I hate the fact that a tiny 510 thread is holding my mod together
* It needs Airflow control - Yes yes I know this and the above point is obviously solved with the Proteus, this is just a way of telling Imeo that I really want the Proteus
* It needs a juice window. I think I am going to get one of Kir Francis's tubes for the penelope, but I would have rather preferred a small window ring like in the UFS or in the medium mode Odys that some of you have. This is probably the only real con I can come up with. I wish Imeo makes something like the UFS window for the Penelope as its the only window on a tank (besides the ody) that does not show the threads or the o-rings.
* Finally, a petty issue - of the 3 that I have, one mouthpiece / juice control part looks brownish and a little dull and doesn't quite match up with the finish of the top cap. Perhaps some kind of polishing will fix this?
To conclude, in the last 24 hours, the Penelope has obsoleted all my other setups! So much so that I instantly pre ordered 2 more! I guess my Orion v2.1, Zenesis Ti and one of my UFS will have to go on sale now to fund my Penelope binge
A big shout out to Bruce and Justin for making this happen. They are one of the nicest shops to deal with. And most of all Thank you Imeo for producing such an awesome device. The Penelope is much simpler than your previous designs but I think the thought that has gone into the design of this atty exceeds any other, including your previous work!
The Penelope once again proves that GGs are the best there is
